My take - there were two meetings and only one that the leaky fiction-writing Democrats could leak about. They know nothing about what was laid out in the other.
If the Dems hadn’t been invited to either there’d be no word on what Nunes and Gowdy saw or didn’t see in either meeting until one of them came out to say so directly.
We are most certainly seeing widespread, coordinated political corruption involving many of our federal institutions, and at levels never before seen in our nation's history.
Some or many of the actors involved in the corruption may have no intention of passively accepting any of outcomes that might result from our traditional legal or political remedies.
IMO, in the near term they will go to never before seen lengths to avoid handing over anything resembling a smoking gun. They will hope, of course, that they regain the House whereupon with the continuing aid of the MSM they will launch a renewed attack on Trump if only to save their own skin.
It is quite likely Trump everyday gains a better reading of the disposition of the force he faces, particularly the extent to which the Republican leadership may be compromised. That may be the reason he appears to be slow-walking his actions, he will pick the ground for the largest battles.
Then let them claim it.

This isn’t passing the smell test. Either DOJ and FBI just went rouge or they have something else going on that even Trump is OK with the stall technique. Comey, Brennan and Clapper should be getting worried.

Its not the DOJ & Sessions that’s to blame for this endless BS, its a guy named Donald Trump, that can’t, or will not, give the orders to deliver the documents. It would take Trump a five-minute call to Rosenstein “Deliver the documents, or surrender your resignation”. So far, Trump seems content to allow this insanity to continue as long as he can whine & Twitter, to bluster and bluff. Does he appoint a ‘Special Counsel”? No, he will let a DOJ IG spend a few years mucking about to no end. I’m beginning to think its all a big showbiz production for him, where he is Paulinge on the Tracks, forever cying his fate.
Yeah I notice that the God Bless Jeff Sessions Douche Brigade is rather scarce tonight.

Ordering the DOJ to fulfill its rightful duty to be subject to Congression oversight, in no way can be considered ‘Obstruction”. And if Trump is “Afraid” of the Democrats then he might as well resign.
We probably need the FBI spy details around August so the other conspirators can be ratted out around Sept. No point in doing something premature and being accused of outing clandestine sources and methods. Of course we want to know if the sources and methods are our own security apparatus. But there are probably other sources as well, and it is best to leave those covered up for now.
Nope, see my previous post. The reason I know I am right is Trump knew all this stuff a year ago or more and chose not to declassify. Stuff willl be declassified in due time without him having to dirty his hands.
Nope, not treason. Spying on an political opponent is very bad of course, but not treason. Nor is keeping stuff classified treason. People are far too impatient about this even though the evidence is that we are winning hearts and minds.
That’s right. Trump does not need to spend his political capital on declassifying documents himself.
