Coming Out as a Libertarian
6/8//18 | self

Posted on 06/08/2018 8:59:15 PM PDT by ChinaGotTheGoodsOnClinton

I am really ticked off that the government spied on a presidential campaign and investigated and exonerated the other major parties nominee after giving everyone and their uncles' immunity. There is no other way to explain this other than to say that no other explanation makes sense but we have Mueller, who was in charge of the FBI during the 9-11 attacks. His FBI receives numerous tips that Saudi nationals on student visas were taking extensive airline flight training in Florida but were strangely not concerned about landings. His response to the disaster was the fiasco the FBI, SAIC, virtual casefile debacle, a case study in secure development projects going off the rails. To put it as kindly as possible “Farris” Mueller is a tool, better at kissing deep-state behinds than directing the FBI to keep Americans safe.

But equally appalling is the Republican response. Paul Ryan has said recently we don’t know yet if the FBI leadership had done anything wrong, and Tea Party darling and Permanent Intelligence Select Committee Chair Trey Gowdy saying words to the effect that if the evidence existed to start an espionage probe, citizens should be happy one was started. The idea of the federal government using its massive signals intelligence capabilities against not a threat to the US, but against a political opponent is a civil libertarian's doomsday scenario. This is what was argued would happen if the PATRIOT Act was passed, and it turns out we were right all along.

And nobody has noticed!

Ron Paul made some comments in the last couple of days but they disappeared in all search engines. Weird. Maybe some FREEPERS saw his comments which were surprisingly good.

Please clarify what this has to do with being a libertarian.

As I recall, there were many L(l)ibertarians who were against the Patriot Act. Many of us thought they were exaggerating. Turns out they were right.

Welcome to the party, but Ron Paul is a showboater and not a real libertarian.

I consider myself a libertarian-nationalist, but the Libertarian party are a bunch of fools who don’t understand you need a strong nation to have liberty. They are for open borders and almost no military. I joined for a while in the 90s and they seem to be more concerned with absolute ideological purity and collecting members’ dues than actually getting things done. Waste of time.

But hey, go ahead and send them your 35 bucks or whatever they are asking for now.

I’m a “practical Libertarian.”

That means where Libertarians are stupid, I’m not.

Poorly written laws become tools of oppression.

Once an organization feels like it’s independence cannot be interrupted ny oversight and that their secrets are only their secrets and acts accordingly, become oppressive organizations.

Right now, the DOJ and FBI are furiously scrubbing the IG report, dropping things that are embarrassing, even illegal things that they’ve done.

I hope Trump orders them to hand over the documents being requested, unredacted and immediate. If they balk, Fire Rosenstein. If they balk again, fire Sessions.

In another time, and another place, people would be hanging from trees now. The outrage, scandal and raw criminality is beyond the pale. It is obvious. In fact, it is so obvious, that the media distortions no longer work. People are now segregated into three camps;

[1] They agree with the "the swamp" and the "swamp creatures". They support them, as long as they will eventually profit from it, call them democrats or Communists. What they really are, are tyrannical psychopaths. Do not be deceived, their numbers are inflated by all sorts of tricks. They represent about 10% of the population.

[2] Regular people. They know good and bad when they see it. They elected Donald Trump and want the nation to "get back on it's feet" again. Truth be told, they have patience, but the longer their wants are ignored, the angrier they are getting. They represent about 60% of the population.

[3] The unconcerned, ignorant, manipulated or ill. They represent about 30% of the population. They tend to believe what ever is presented to them.

Make no mistake. Things will need to change or else there will be a need for a rather abrupt reset.

Well I personally do not think you are making the right decision for a host of reasons. It is better to fight to retake the Republican Party and push the RINO clowns out and replace them with men & women with real values who love this country. Who are not in politics to feather their own nests will ignoring loyal Americans.

I understand your frustration, but in reality you are just helping Democrat politicians, because your Libertarian vote would be a wasted vote in the end.

Man up and fight the fight from a vantage point that will do the most good. That is voting for a Republican. Even most RINO's are better than another Democrat, even if sometimes that doesn't seem to be the case. Work hard though to identify and replace the most egregious RINO's. Electing Trump as President has made spotting them become much easier.

On paper Libertarians are perfect. In reality they have their heads buried in the sand. They cost us several Senate seats in the north west for several years.

I don’t know what to call what I am. Both main parties are just corrupt teams. Don’t ever think otherwise. There might be decent people on both sides but because someone pretends to be conservative doesn’t mean they are.

On paper Libertarians are perfect.

Especially when frustration clouds one's critical thinking process. 8>)

I can understand his frustration as I'm sure many here have experienced many times over the last few decades of the Republican Party that says one thing to get elected and then does the exact opposite once they get elected. I know I have for sure, and have contemplated and even searched for a new political party to hang my hat on. The only real option I found was to retake the republican Party back to where it originated from.

Yep, been there done that. I even sat next to David Bergland at dinner.
I haven't given dues to, or been to a meeting of, the Libertarian Party since just after 9/11 when I saw the schism building between those in the Libertarian Party that saw attacks by Islam as initiation of force (thus requiring a principled libertarian response), and those that thought the use of force by Islam was retaliation for transgressions by the the US (Paulists, etc.). I will not support those LP pacifists ever again.
A co-worker and friend of mine observed that we were both Nationalist libertarians and I had to agree. But I have called myself a traditional Goldwater libertarian objectivist Republican.

I left because of national defense and abortion. I believe in retaliation and first strikes. Also I oppose abortion as the wrongful taking of a human life.

The libertarians have a sting stance on small government and freedom and the republicans could learn from that.
