Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), on her Twitter page early Wednesday morning, tweeted, “‘6 weeks pregnant’ = 2 weeks late on your period.”
“‘6 weeks pregnant’ = 2 weeks late on your period,” wrote Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on her Twitter page. “Most of the men writing these bills don’t know the first thing about a woman’s body outside of the things they want from it. It’s relatively common for a woman to have a later period + not be pregnant. So this is a backdoor ban.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s comments came in reference to a CBS News tweet citing a piece on the“fetal heartbeat bill” signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp that would, according to CBS News, “prohibit abortion after a heartbeat is detected in an embryo.” CBS News notes later in the piece that “Abortion rights advocates have called the bill an effective ban on abortion in the state.”
Nancy will see to it that she's primaried out in 2020. My money is on a "Triumphant Return" by Joe Crowley.
Yep! :-)
My # 22 did mention it, I believe I may have been the first in this thread to do so.
Help me out here! It has been quite awhile since my last period. I am not pregnant, just older than dirt.
But, if my memory is functioning, fertilization occurs mid -cycle. Two weeks about after the last period, the egg is fertilized and development of the baby begins.
So, 8 weeks after the last period would be the 6 week mark. Plenty of time to figure it out, unless you are AOC or didn’t pay attention to health class in high school.
Does she not know what causes pregnancy? It can be avoided, you know.
Of course not.
On my browser the text was showing a bunch of weird symbols which come with formatting errors.
I could see the headline, and it is AOC though.
Yes. Women keep track of when their period is due, and when she’s late, she knows it by a day or two, not weeks. The exception to this would be a woman with very irregular periods, but not everybody. Mine were like clockwork, every three weeks. By the time six weeks had passed, I knew I was pregnant. All four times.
I sure hope not. Between the two of them, one is immensely more entertaining than the other.
No heartbeat can be detected by stethoscope that early 18 weeks maybe. The earliest a heart beat can be detected by ultrasound is 6-7 weeks. And thats not usually an audible heartbeat but cardiac activity seen on ultrasound. You can actually see the heart beating
Take it easy on her, she still has Garbage Disposal Stress Syndrome.
LMAO.
And now, Occasional Cortex shares her cycle with the world. Nice going, idiot voters.
“Most of the men writing these bills dont know the first thing about a womans body” says the woman who thinks that “6 Weeks Pregnant = 2 Weeks Late on Your Period.”
Women generally ovulate during the middle of their 4 week cycle, so 6 weeks pregnant would be around the time that you miss your second period.
Every time that snowflake opens her mouth (so to speak), I’m convinced that it’s the dumbest thing that can be uttered. Then she opens her mouth again and outdoes herself.

re: “Well if women are so knowledgeable about their bodies, how the heck are they winding up with unwanted pregnancies?”
It. Is. A. Mystery.
No, I hate to say that she’s actually right about this. Pregnancy is dated from the start of your last period, so although it’s un-intuitive, conception would occur at “week 2” of a pregnancy and “week 4” is usually when the first menstrual cycle is missed.
“Six weeks after conception” would be 8 weeks pregnant. Yeah, not intuitive, but it’s hoe the dating works.
Yes because you are fertile the day afte your period ends...
My Lord, the stupidity is strong in this one.
