Fort Worth police announced at a news conference Monday that the officer who shot and killed a woman in her home Saturday has resigned.

Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus identified the officer as Aaron Dean, a man who has served about 18 months with the Fort Worth police. Kraus said he was going to fire the officer had he not resigned Monday morning.

Kraus said a criminal investigation is ongoing and he expects to release an update by Tuesday. The FBI also has been briefed to investigate possible civil rights violations, he said.

I have lived in major cites.

It has never been a problem.

Like I said before, if the victim had been a poor white woman living in a beat-up trailer in a run-down trailer park on the wrong side of town, would we even be having this discussion?

Would it have made the national news?

(Maybe the local news.)

This guy is going to prison, just like Amber Guyger.

I'm thinking he is going to get more than 10 years. I'm thinking this is worse than what she did.

I say put him in a cell with that PoS with “You’re F’d!” printed on the dust cover of his AR when he murdered the guy on his knees in his underwear in the hall of the hotel.

I am still furious that that bastard got away with that. What the f*** is wrong with Juries in Las Vegas? That was clearly over the top homicide.

That cop should be serving time. I might even support the death penalty in his case.

“Did not see the word ‘white’ in the article...no pic of cop...hmmmm”

Seriously does not matter what his skin color is, his skull is empty!

Yes, people do. For all the reasons you have been told, or because the door sticks in the frame and later the wind pulls it open. Or because kids run in and out and don’t shut the door.

You, Bort. Don’t ever work law enforcement or any job with a weapon. You are far too irresponsible to wield one.

Actually this was a big deal on FR at the time and it made national news. He WAS a 17 year old who answered a door with a game controller in his hand and some dumb cop shot and killed him. And he just happened to live in a trailer park, too. Where were you, race baiter?

No, the victim was playing video games with her nephew when she was murdered.
A gun was later found in the bathroom of the house.

"You are a boot licker, plain and simple."

At least he went home safely to his family that night.

/S

Perhaps he was auditioning for Beto's AR-15 confiscation team.

The person who called called a non-emergency number, not 911. They did not report there was any burglary or altercation going on. Why wouldn’t the cops go to the door and knock? Why didn’t they park their cop car out front with the lights on? Sorry, maybe it’s just this idiot, or maybe it’s the whole department, but they come across like a bunch of incompetent, trigger-happy, useless “public servants”.

Leaving your door open is not a crime, this woman was sitting in her house, and realizes someone is creeping around outside, has no idea why that might be, and gets shot for her trouble.

This is their idea of a welfare check, going to the home and killing the person they’re supposed to be checking on.

You excuse that if you see fit, but no reasonable person, of any race or political persuasion will agree with you. Because what you are saying is it’s OK for any cop to kill anyone at any time.

The victim in this case was carrying a handgun.

The victim was not carrying a handgun. Or any other kind of weapon.

I am not blaming the victim.

Yeah you are.

“...can you imagine how the neighbor feels...”

I know, I feel really bad for him. I once had a neighbor who kind of neglected her kid. She didn’t abuse him, she sent him to school, but she neglected him. He once ended up sleeping at my house and I don’t know if the mother had any idea where he was. He was about 6 years old, maybe.

I thought long and hard about calling child welfare (and my sainted father was a child welfare worker in NYC for many years) but I decided not to. The woman had family, etc. and I just couldn’t believe that involving the state wouldn’t have made things worse for the kid.

It’s a shame we have to think that way, but we do.

Your “support”/explaining/defending an obviously horrible shooting/bad cop undermines all the good police officers out there...if you “back the blue” and want to support good cops...step back, take a breath and just “lurk” the thread the next time this happens.

Bingo. Was going to post that but you beat me to it. That’s exactly what it is: being denied the right to life without due process. It’s a violation of the 14th amendment. Race has nothing to do with it. For a board who prides itself on a love of the constitution, you would think you would not have to explain it. Police officers are agents of the state they are sworn to. When they deprive someone of life without due process, they commit a violation of civil rights and a violation of the 14th amendment.
