In some jurisdictions, the police are required to answer questions in the course of an investigation. If these guys pleaded the fifth, and asked for lawyers, they could be fired.

I’m sure the autopsy will be detailed in the injuries sustained in the back and neck area. If they are not as substantial as speculated, it might also point to another cause of death.

He later said he was. misinterpreted. Talking generically and. not about specific evidence related to this case.

Thank you for your comment. I read the so-called clarification from the DAs‘s office. This did not sound like a retraction. This district attorney looks like he’s been around for a long time. I don’t think he made a mistake when he referred to other evidence that does not support a criminal charge. I think his statement was deliberate and designed to lower expectations as to any possible charging decision. My gut is that the “other evidence that does not support the charge” he is referring to is the autopsy. But, I will admit , I could very well be wrong. We shall see.

Short memory? Don’t you remember how long it took for truth about the Gentle Giant to come out?

Sorry. I’ve seen the video many times.
Please tell us about this “evidence”.

Because prosecutors never inflate the value or relevance of evidence. Might want to ask General Flynn about that.

I guess we shall see. I do know that you cannot convict somebody of murder or manslaughter unless their specific actions caused the death. We have not seen the autopsy yet. Suppose, hypothetically, if the autopsy shows that the victim died of a drug overdose and not from being physically handled by the officers. That would be important evidence, right? Or, hypothetically, suppose that the victim was flailing wildly and endangering himself and the officers, which prompted the officers to pin him on the ground for his own safety, believing he was tripping on drugs. Again, none of us knows all of the facts. All I say is we should withhold judgment until an autopsy is released as well as video which shows why the officers got on top of Mr. Floyd in the first place. I have an open mind.

"Really? You think that “evidence” is going to make a difference?"

Exactly.

As awful as the death of this man was while in police custody, stop and think for a nanosecond what will happen in not just Minneapolis...but across the country, IF...IF the actual real evidence comes out that a murder charge for any of the police just isn't justifiable under the law.

I think what we've seen so far regarding the rioting will be very minor.

Perhaps the best thing is for the results of the full investigation to be release sometime during this winter...for several reasons.

From a YouTube link posted yesterday...

This is exactly why you don't go out screaming MURDER.

Amen, but the damage is done and EVERYBODY seemed to jump on it for emotion, agenda, opportunity and bias as a city burns compounding a devastating societal event. The media and politicians are pure vile and disgusting. I had a wait and see approach and that is considered "protecting police","racist" and "how can I not see the obvious". People see what they want to see especially in the video cesspool society. The new hip term is "digital lynch mob".I find that so ironic. Bottom line is that these 4 men are in serious trouble and contributed to a suspects death. Something restricted his breathing. There may be quite a difference if the knee on neck and or position contributed to this or some other toxic event in his body. I have a hard time watching the video.

Works great. Zero complaints after 2 months and lots of spicy quarantine fries (tossed with olive oil, cayenne and crushed pepper flakes). Still working on a garlic oil for garlic fries...

I asked you to tell me the “New Evidence”.
You provided none.
I could go thru your post line by line.
Why bother?
You have no evidence. Just “theories”.
The man was in handcuffs. With his
hands behind his back.
There was no need for a knee to his
neck. Just put him in a squad car.
It’s that simple. The officers would not
be under investigation. And the man would be alive.

The new “evidence “ is that the DA came out and said there is “other evidence that does not support a criminal charge.” I don’t know what that evidence is. As I stated 37 times, I have an open mind. Until we see the autopsy and video which shows why the officers got on top of this guy in the first place, I will withhold judgment.

Tell us what evidence the DA said he had? It’s not “evidence” until he tells
us what it is. So, there is no evidence right now.
Except a video of a policeman who had cuffs on a black man
with the black man’s hands behind his back, laying on the ground
with the policeman’s knee on the black man’s main blood artery
for about 8 min.
Once cuffed, why didn’t the officers just put him in a squad car?
You do know that you can kill someone with pressure on one
or both main arteries in the neck don’t you?

PS.
The main neck arteries carry blood and oxygen to the brain.
Cut off one or both main arteries and you can’t breathe.
Then u die.

“ I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard the DA from Hennepin County state that there is "other evidence that does not support a criminal charge“

The fact he says “a criminal” rather than “a homicide” charge is startling. That’s big because I figured the prosecutor could get around any autopsy evidence by charging the cop with felony battery as a predicate for a felony murder charge at the least. But he is saying any criminal charge. I’m wondering if there was a weapon - but wouldn’t they fall over themselves announcing that? What evidence could possibly excuse or rebut a felony murder charge based on what we saw? Given the political climate there you know the DA will file if they’ve got the slightest thing to hang their hat on - and that video is powerful. Not arguing with you, just thinking out loud.

Some guy on Limbaugh today said something about the guy actually dying from a heroin overdose.   (That knee on the carotid artery wouldn't have been very helpful though, even if something like that drug angle was involved with that situation.)
