(NewsNation) – The Social Security Administration announced 2024’s cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) just over a month ago, confirming a 3.2% bump in benefits for retirees. Here’s what you need to know.

How does the 2024 increase compare to 2023’s? While still one of the largest increases in decades, 2024’s COLA increase of 3.2% is far below the 8.7% bump that recipients were granted in 2023.

Social security can no longer pay full benefits in 2031. COLA increases will move this date forward. 2028?

Yay, I get an increase in my $127.00 per month. This will help me keep up with the inflation rates. Might even open a savings account and invest!

3.2% will buy a cup of coffee or two. The “increase” is always a year late and thousands of dollars short.

It’s so sad...The corrupt running the country looted and everything meant for legitimate American citizens and gave trillions away in “Aid” packages to foreign governments and globalist foreign adventures.

Those SOBs in D.C. screwed everyone. But you’ll notice most of them in D.C. came out of this as millionaires.

They either make the cap 250K or decrease the checks 20 percent. Needs to make the decision soon.

Tip of the iceberg. Money given to illegals, money given to "artists" for unnecessary million-dollar projects, money to waste on high-speed trains to no where that will never be completed, money wasted on creating wetlands where none are needed, money given to enemy countries for no particular reason, money wasted on forgiving student loans and corporate loans, money for stimulus projects to create and sell items no one wants, money for pork-barrel projects to help congress-people get re-elected. Money, money, money,... so easy to print. But Social Security handouts are stingy. We'll all be sinking because of the debt iceberg.

Cut all federal spending by 2-3% indefinitely until the budget is balanced in perpetuity. Everybody gets a haircut; everybody sucks it up.

Social Security can be fixed easily by forcing every Federal Employee into the program, use all those funds for the bloated pension benefits these quislings receive to help shore up SS

U.S. citizens who work for a living have 15.3% of their income taken out for FICA (Social Security and Medicare). Yes, their employer picks up half the tab.

If the average worker put 15.3% of their income in an S&P 500 index fund over a 40 year working life, they would retire as multi-millionaires.

But the government instead spend many billions on illegal aliens, aid to foreign countries, welfare for people who don't work, and so on.

FICA, and the promise of a retirement income, is an absolute raw deal for our citizens. If they did not have their own savings to fund a retirement to supplement their meager Social Security income, they are absolutely screwed.

Or you could buy dinner for two, or fill the truck, or part of a week’s groceries, or half of your electric bill or 5% of a mortgsge, or part of a car payment. Etc.
