OK. So Beck was an Ex-Con about to be brought up on charges again.
What part of this allows the BATF, ect... to act as Judge, Jury, and Executioner on site? Did one of the convictions prior to this remove his right to a fair trial?
Go ahead and cheerlead all you want, but damnit, think about what kind of a precedent this sets.

Because it represents a hazard. If someone got hurt, the someone would sue the city.

OK, so you're saying that the situation is beyond hope, and that violent revolt is the only remaining option.
Leave FR for those sites that support you--this ain't the place for this crap.

"...hot tear gas canisters...?"Shouldn't that read "burning, incendiary, pyrotechnic, CS tear gas canisters?"

If a major event like this occurs with every single report being the same, it's a sign that it was scripted in advanceWhat a silly premise but in this case its not true. We have had an officer who said it could have been friendly fire.

Do you think the amount of force used was really needed? No. The original force was WAY underdone. If they had had done a dynamic SWAT entry, two people would be alive today (except in Lubbock). Instead, they respected Beck and didn't contact him until 8:00 am. They didn't have a SWAT team. They expected Beck to peacefully cooperate but when he realized the warrant would uncover his "third strike" felony, he retreated into the house and began shooting.
The police were completely unprepared for a violent response. After the shooting started the Sheriff's department took over the negotiations and seige.

So blockading him in his house until he runs out of food/ammo/water was so out of the question?
He'd answered supeona before without the pyrotechnics, what was different this time?
To: Poohbah
They actually had no probable cause to arrest him. They were looking for evidence to support an arrest with the search warrant so they couldn't just arrest him on the street.

Because it represents a hazard. If someone got hurt, the someone would sue the city. Yellow crime scene tape has the same effect, but without disturbing the 'crime scene', so would a guard or a fence. Hmm, what then?
To: tbeatty
Yeah, you're right . . . Beck is a scumbag!
And . . . the BATF are a bunch of incompetent morons!
I don't care for either one of them.

PS I did vote for different legislators, but they never seem to get elected Well, you need to get to work persuading your fellow citizens to think as you do.

Ah, yes. Blockade an armed lunatic in his house. And, incidentally, blockade his neighbors from THEIR house. You would punish the innocent to spare the guilty. You are pond scum.

So blockading him in his house until he runs out of food/ammo/water was so out of the question? It's in a residential neighborhood. Are you going to allow someone to standoff the police for weeks why you live in a hotel?
He'd answered supeona before without the pyrotechnics, what was different this time?
This time, he knew they would find weapons in his home. For him, a "strike 3" felony that would have sent him to prison for life.

Because it represents a hazard. If someone got hurt, the someone would sue the city. Oh sure. Are all other strutures that have burned within that city bulldozed within 24 hours? I seriously doubt it. I smell preemptive cover up, because they didn't know at the time if the deppity was shot by his own side or not, and weren't taking any chances with physical evidence if he were. The only guy who could have possibly contracticted them was already dead, so just make sure nothing is left - just in case.
To: tbeatty
Point taken. But no doubt lost on the folks who think he's some sort of brave warrior hero.

Oh sure. Are all other strutures that have burned within that city bulldozed within 24 hours? Three days, not 24 hours.

First of all, I have yet to encounter ANY crisis where the first reports bore more than a passing resemblance to what actually happened.
Second, we have a "MAY" from ONE officer turned into a sure-fire, yup-that's-the-way-it-happened from the folks who think Beck is some sort of brave, noble warrior for capping off those rounds at the cops--and said "MAY" has been DISPROVED by the county coroner.
