To quote Grampa Dave:

The Free Republic Lifeform

"... This is a wonderful description of what Free Republic really is. It is a living and evolving Life Form to battle the left wingers and those who would destroy this country!

The Free Republic Life Form enables us to discover the truth about what is happening. We can avoid the spin of the major mediots as they work 24/7 to weaken this country. We come to the Free Republic Life Form to find the truth! ...

Free Republic needs a constant infusion of cash to keep the Free Republic Life Form alive, viable and to grow. If we believe in Free Republic, we must donate each month or quarterly to keep this incredible life form alive...

Good stewardship is what this world needs, not good intentions. Good conservative stewards will insure that the Free Republic Life Form continues to grow, be viable and thrives!"

We (well, mostly I) resurrect this old thread from time to time, hoping that the new folks will be encouraged to join Grampa Dave's team and become $5/month donors.

Hey, guys and gals I consider the dollar a day club almost a free thing.

Could be that I have saved money since joining Free Republic.

The money I used to spend on medicines at Walgreen’s to quell my rage for radical liberals is now sent to you.

Professionally I would love to prescribe a big dose of FR for many different liberal maladies.

Some of these maladies are:

Deaniacs Disease – Frantically waving hands and arms while talking erratically through ones Anus.

McCaniacs Disease - A condition where a politician has two faces and a nose shaped like a Rhinoceros.

Kerry’s Form 180 Colonic Inertia - Identified by a big yellow extremely hard stool. Can be brought on by Kennedy’s Dyschezia.

Pelosie Fecal Incontinence Disorder - A condition where those listening to Nancy speak causes the loss of control over bowel movements. Can also be triggered in speech listeners by bad Deer in the lights face-lifts.

Murtha’s Madness - Known Symptoms - Diarrhea of the mouth caused by senility.

Kennedy’s Dyschezia - A condition where listening to Murdering Ted for more than a few seconds’ causes the inability to control the pelvic and anal muscles. Often identified with butt puckering.

Kennedy’s Dissociative Fugue – A disorder where a person has one or more episodes of sudden, unexpected, and purposeful travels in which he cannot remember under what bridge or stream he parked his secretary and car. Often takes on a new identity after sobering up as a liberal Senator.

Sheehan’s Paranoid Madness – The projection of ones own conflicts and hostilities onto others while wearing pink and living in a ditch.

Cynthia McKinney’s Disorder – Caused when commonly, overweight congress ladies act hysterical and conspicuously seek attention and behave dramatically. Emotions often seem exaggerated, childish, and contrived to evoke sympathy or attention from others. Can play Race Card in every situation and used same as Get Out Of Jail Free card recognized by all diviserfied liberal judges.

Hillary’s Personality Disorder – A condition where the individual’s personality is introverted, withdrawn, and solitary. The individual is emotionally cold and socially distant. Fantasizing about Vince Foster is a common coping mechanism.

Algoreism Personality – Symptoms are very complicated – Algoreism is a narcissistic personality where one has a sense of superiority and an exaggerated belief in their own value or importance. Often called grandiosity and identified in most of the current Democrat Leadership.

Proof positive that being a good steward of Free Republic saves money.

Thanks I had a little fun with some medical definition.

I will send it to my son who lives part-time in Boston and teaches at Brown.

He is a dyed in the wool liberal but does agree with me about Howard Dean and many in liberal leadership being losers.

"My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."

Okay, I'll admit I need to pitch in and send a monthly donation (instead of a one time small donation on occasion). I happen to be addicted to, love to read, and have learned more from this site than all the newspaper subscriptions I've read in my life (that's a lot).

I am just curious though, what the heck is costing $22,000 per month, $264,000 per year running this site? Is it the legal costs from MSM trying to stop it?

I don't want to be flamed. I am just curious. I have recently started updating a website for a friend/client and I know it can require some time/work. I certainly think Jim needs a salary to provide this service to us. But I am curious about the costs.

I'll bet lots of newbies here wonder the same, and so it would be a good thing for this info to be available -- might result in lots more commitment to donate.

Hardware and bandwidth isn't cheap. I know, I work for a telecomm company.
There is also a living wage for the people that keep the site running. And it ain't much but it keeps 'em living.

The Free Republic Monthly Budget has the current breakdown of most of the expenses.

Also, Jim has posted in many past FReepathons how the money was spent. There are some examples posted here and here.

I hope this helps answer some of your questions.
