Ted Maher -- former Special Forces; Neonatal Intensive Care nurse
American Green Beret veteran and accomplished neonatal nurse Ted Maher has now been held 537 days without trial in Monaco's prison on trumped-up and false charges -- charges of causing the deaths of billionaire banker Edmond Safra and Ted's fellow nurse, Vivian Torrente on December 3, 1999. In truth, Ted fought valiantly against two armed, masked intruders to defend Edmond and Vivian and save their lives. During the struggle, Ted suffered severe knife wounds that required one hundred staples to close.
Billionaire banker Edmond Safra was cooperating with the FBI, who was investigating the IMF/Russian loans. Needing a convenient scapegoat for the murder of Safra, Monaco police subjected Ted to three days of grueling torture designed to extort a false confession from him. (see description in "BASIC TIMELINE" in Thread 1 - http://206.112.97.70/forum/a3ad8b097272d.htm ).
Monaco continues to hold Ted incommunicado, preventing him from sending or receiving mail. In fact, they restrict his communication with his family to one telephone call a week. This call is only allowed to last a few minutes and is always monitored closely to prevent any discussion of the case. Ted is forced by his jailers to take a psychotropic medication and is regularly "interrogated" by the Monaco judge -- Patricia Richet. Reports have been received that Judge Richet is a violent person who has displayed unstable behavior in the past. She allegedly has a history of assaulting a fellow judge, putting him in the hospital for a week. She also tears up letters from Ted's children in front of Ted rather than let him read them.
Hundreds of family, friends, work associates, parents of patients, and Army veterans who served with Ted have vouched for him as being a loyal husband, loving father, and an exemplary professional of great skill and compassion. Ted has also been defended by then-chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman and Ted's congresswoman Sue Kelly, who have written Prince Rainier III of Monaco on Ted's behalf. Monaco has no evidence of any crime by Ted; they have no witnesses and no credible case against him. Even worse, Monaco has planted false evidence and suppressed vast amounts of exculpatory evidence -- even passing a special Monaco law that enables them to hold Ted four years without trial.
The Geneva prosecutor has said that Safra was killed for his cooperation with the FBI regarding the laundering through Safra's Republic National Bank of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Regardless of the reason "why," it is obvious that Ted Maher is a scapegoat for a murder by others. We are working to obtain his release and to correct the grave injustice being done to an American Green beret veteran and medical professional.
Ted Maher -- a giver of life, not a taker -- needs our help.

MONEY LAUNDERING WEB EXPOSED. A wave of recent arrests is the product of the U.S. government's continuing investigation into the 1999 money laundering scandal involving the Benex Corporation and the Bank of New York, the New York Times reports. The arrests of 50 people, half of them Russians, in raids in Italy, Monte Carlo and France were made public on June 12th. Sizeable assets have also been seized and 300 bank accounts have been frozen to date. According to the paper, the arrests appeared to confirm concerns "that large-scale laundering of money obtained illegally in Russia continues through seemingly legitimate businesses." The profits being laundered derive from prostitution, drug sales, tax evasion and protection rackets.
Note that Natasha Kagalovsky of Bank of New York was defended by Lily's attorney Stanley Cohen.

In a 47-page decision the appeals court today refused all Ted's attorneys' motions and will try him on arson with a life sentence in the balance.
It seems that Lily paid Ireneo Torrente two million of her own funds rather than let insurance handle it. The word is that Vivian died of "trauma to the throat".
There is DNA involved in both Vivian and Edmond which is not Ted's.
Lily has now paid off Sonia Casiano-Herkrath and Ireneo Torrente. And she was seen being embraced by judge d'instruction Patricia Richet at the reenactment.
With appeals the trial may still be a year away.
The only trouble with the arson charge is that Ted did not set the several points of ignition mentioned in the fire report, and even under three days of constant interrogation and threats never admitted to any of that.
Exhumation of Edmond and Vivian may be sought--of course, Lily can have buried Edmond in Geneva for no other reason than to attempt to thwart this.
Now why would she have squandered two million of her ill-gotten gains on a pay-off to the likes of Ireneo Torrente? Vivian is in New Jersey. Is Lily paying Ireneo to block exhumation of Vivian?
Lily and the Mafiya decided Edmond was inconvenient, and Ted would be their scapegoat. That is a hypothesis more likely than that Ted--who had arranged his flight back to New York, and never took drugs, and who enjoyed the respect of Edmond Safra--would have done the outre antics ascribed to him by Daniel Oily Serdet et al.
Edmond was murdered--despite Ted's defense.
Still haven't heard from the night watchman--was he killed?
And the director of Monaco Securite--he said the burglar alarm was disconnected July 1, 1999, but he didn't say by whom--it would be Edmond (not likely) or Lily (likely). Why?
And it was she who sent the security team to La Leopolda--get hold of Boaz Bismuth, Israeli journalist who told NBC's Sara James this on Dateline NBC's November 20, 2000 "Who Killed the Billionaire?" And Shmule/Samuel Cohen--how is it he returned to the penthouse WITHOUT IDENTIFICATION? That's too special forces/black ops for words. After all, Cohen was of the vaunted Mossad.
It has long been said that he was one of the two masked intruders, and did not kill Ted because he respected him.
Why did Monaco not call out its new (and expensive) antiterrorism squad that night? Why did it let three hours go by without getting to Edmond?
The fire report mentions accelerants--and there is a 20cm/8in diameter hole in the "bulletproof" category three glass of the penthouse--yet the report says three times that firemen were unable to break this glass.
The steel roller blinds were locked down by a convenient fire in Edmond's control panel--yet Lily's remained up to permit her "escape".
The extensive renovations completed July, 1999 included work to the SEPARATE airhandling systems for Edmond and Lily, as well as the construction of a TRAP DOOR to the attic airhandling machinery from the nurses' room--where the supposed fire was set. A marble floor and a sixteen-foot ceiling: this is the locale for a candle to engulf the gigantic penthouse? Not.
Those pesky emergency call tapes for the night of December 3, 1999 were unable to be found by Monaco police--but they did have the tapes for the 2d and the 4th. Too curious.
Skakel was convicted more than two decades after killing Moxley. Dunne and Griffith will never let this case rest. Surely Joseph and Moise will have the same drive for justice.
