I think they're going to vote yes on the tax. The National Guard with live ammo is why I think that. Last year the people in Tennessee showed up at the last moment and protested strongly against the tax. I think some things even got broken that day.
Everyone needs to keep on eye on this one.

IT WAS NOT A RIOT LAST TIME, DESPITE WHAT THE PRESS SAYS.
Yes, a window was broken, and someone was dragged out of the building. But, all in all, it was a LOUD, PEACEFUL crowd, from eyewitness reports. The legislators just got scared, and failed to pass the tax.
By the way, the legislators are pretty much well-off lawyers, or gentlemen farmers, etc. If they pass an income tax, they plan to repeal the "Hall Tax", which is a tax on investment income...
Think about it.

BTW - a TN State Trooper dragged a citizen protestor away from the legislative chamber, no legislator was dragged out of the building.

Want to do something? Go here: There is no better of an example of what can go wrong if two political parties start pushing the same agendas as in Tennessee. WHERE IS THE TENNESSEE GOP LEADERSHIP TO COUNTER OR OBJECT TO THIS???? Why are they not calling for this IDIOTS imediate resignation? Why? Because they too long ago sold out to Big Blue in Chattanooga and the rest of the Tenn Care HMO's. I will not vote for my current state senator Randy McNally-R Oak Ridge re-election. He up till last round supported it as well and will do so again if allowed to return. I don't care if a Green Martian replaces him I want him out of office. I will vote his opposition in the primary then Independent in the general I have had it with RINO's of any shape or form.

1946? Greek Civil War? I'm guessing the citizens of Athens shot a bunch of commies.

What is this a&&hole, nuts or something???

BTW writting a letter to state speaker Naifeh is a complete waste of effort unless you are from his district it will not get read. Writting a letter to Taxquist is as futile as well. He's arrogant and nothing will sway him. But look for Taxquist to be in Washington DC in an advisory position to the White House by this time next year. Mark my word on it. He was the Bush state chairman and leaves office in January 2003.

YES HE IS!

Who would riot if there was a vote for no tax? Ummmm, think about that.
Cincinnati, LA, Detroit, Seattle, Philly, Liberty City aren't that far away from Nashville. Freeloaders hate to be cut off.

In a way I think your right. Armed protection for laying taxes.

Take these with you:
If that don't work, move to Georgia as soon as Barnes is gone.

Good luck to you all, and good FReeping. These people just dont get it, and they never will. The only hope is for you to raise such a stink that people will remember what it was all about a few months from now. Look forward to a report...JFK

Is this Valentine guy legit, or a radio muckraker? Hardly the latter. (I've interviewed him as a newscaster in Knoxville.) He and his co-host sponsored a spontaneous demonstration last summer when the TN Legislature tried to sneak the same thing through. The pro-tax forces are quaking over the thought of a similar horn-honking protest happening again, and hope to head it off at the pass.
The whole damn thing's unconstitutional, but if they can pass it, it will have to be "undone." And trust me, my foes and friends, once it's entrenched, it will NEVER LEAVE.
The federal income tax (1916) was temporary...withholding (1942)was temporary...Social Security (1936) was never supposed to be more than 2%.
Once they get their hooks in, the hooks go nowhere but deeper. The really sad part is that Tennessee, one of only nine states without an income tax, is trashed by the other 31 for fighting so fiercely against one.
Maybe it's envy....

"RINO" is too mild of a term for Sundquist. When the TN Republicans won't take care of business in their primaries, the result are traitors like Sundquist. It is nearly impossible to unseat an incument in a southern Republican primary these days. An extreme liberal named Jeff Wentworth won again 51-49 in TX on March 12. He beat a very well-financed conservative opponent, the son-in-law of the businessman Red McCombs. I bet this time the TN Republicans still won't take care of business, and the senatorial nominee will be old plaid Lamar! The poor people of TN -- how will they ever pay for all this unnecessary government? It's so tragic that conservatives won't come out and clean up the Republican party in the primaries. The pay is so poor in many TN jobs that these people can't pay for all this extravagant government coming out of Nashville.

Freeloaders hate to be cut off. Has there been threatened cuts? Other than police and fire, who really gets cut when a budget needs to be balanced...not the "refuse to work" poor, that's for sure.

Well, they seem to have backed off for tonight. I will therefore limit myself to some intense, but polite, phone calls to some of these (censored).

Is there a link where I can listen to Phil on the internet? I used to be able to pick him up here in SW Kentucky but I can't anymore. Thanks.
