I'll take this real slow... "secondhand accounts" came from someone other than the girl, get it? Like maybe a parent who was out of their mind with fear, (who mis-interpreted what the child had said) who called the dispatcher, who relayed the info to the media to get out the Rachel Alert. The girl was never in that loop.

B do you have to contend over everything? I only am annoyed at the skirting slurs that is thrown every now and than and its been going on for 20 days.

UG is more easy going yet she does not like it either. The Lord made us all different and some are direct and others are polite. Most of the people here are concern and pray for a good ending, the Smart are exercising Faith Thing hope for that is unseen and the negative slamming does not contribute towards goodwill. For now if our prayers are with them, lets try not to be a burden, and I too will try not to re-act.

Why am I confident about that? Because it is the nature of that community there. It's like America 60 yeras ago: Everyone KNOWS everyone else, knows them well, and knows them in the context of shared spiritual values.

Having spent the last three weeks in Salt Lake City, let me tell you a couple things.

The town is just getting over the trial of a high official of the Church bank. He was charged with exposing 19 year old girlfriend to drugs and and his 15 year old daughter to porn as well. A real 'party guy.' Both girls OD'd on 'ecstasy' at his home.

One day driving by the City or County bldg which occupies a complete block and is surrounded by lawn I noticed the entire area filled with people, booths, posters, etc. I figgered it was something to do with support for the Smart child. It wasn't. It was a convention for Utah homos. The inbred liberal cretin mayor apparently had donated the lawn area for the event that day.

SLC is not the idyllic Mecca for Saints as portrayed by many in their minds.

I spoke with many Mormons there re this tragedy, and every one was open to the thought that family hankypanky was a possibility.

Sorry to burst your bubble but aside from being Mormons, the residents of the town are human beings and subject to the same corruption as anyone else.

What was the name of the Bank and the name of the high offical? Utah Homo's are not LDS and not all people of Utah are LDS!

I can't remember if Zion's Bank is owned by the LDS church or not. And the Gibbons guy is scum, even if he was found not guilty for corrupting a minor. And even if the church does own the bank, they do not condone his vile behavior. Not sure of the particulars of his situation, but I'd bet money he is no longer a member of the church, and hasn't been for years.

You must have been here for Gay Pride week. Did you get to see the parade? Ugh. SLC is now more non-LDS (I think about 45% of SLC is LDS.) And I'm trying to be Christian here, but Rocky Anderson, liberal mayor of SLC is a jerk. He is known as the Al Gore of Utah. Salt Lake City is a good city, there are areas that are very nice, and pretty safe, others areas are not. I'm not ruling out family hankypanky either, but I do need a better source than the National Enquirer. I do have friends in SLC, what they've told me is that the Smarts are highly regarded in the community.

According to the affidavit, Ryan Wilson, who is currently housed in a federal prison in Seattle on drug convictions, showed Lambert where Gibbons(Zions Bancorporation Chief Financial Officer Dale Moroni Gibbons)lived and said Gibbons put on rave parties where GHB, a date-rape drug; Ecstasy, a mood-enhancer; and ketamine, an animal tranquilizer, were distributed to adults and minors.

The affidavit says Wilson's information was consistent with other claims that the drugs were used as sex enhancers, and that unreported sexual assaults on young females had occurred at the home.

That might be true, but Gibbons was found not guilty on all charges last week. He claimed that his hair had meth in it because he slept with his 19 year old girlfriend, and she was a meth user. He claimed that the porn was only in his bedroom, that he and his 15 year old daughter 'respected each other's space and lives.'
