A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 07-24-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

We know SHE is!  It's written in her name!

ru4Liberty

Can you believe this is a Driver's License Photo?  Nobody looks that good on their Driver's License!  :)  This Texan found FR in August of 1998, but her FR birthday is November 13, 1998, as she posted under a different name for a few months before changing to ru4Liberty.

"The government that can do everything for you
is the same government that can do anything to you."

This quote is prominently displayed on ru's profile page, and as might be expected with a screen name like hers, some links to threads found on her page have such titles as:

  • When Guns Are Banned
  • The Republic Died This Year
  • A Profile Worth Reading (Must Read)
  • 24 Hour Prayer for Election Monday
  • As a Public Service...The U.S. Constitution
  • Counterfeit America, An Imitation of Freedom

However, those who know ru well know she's not all seriousness;   you can also find such topics as "FReeper Humor. Good Stuff", and she is absolutely foolish over this adorable little bundle of fluff named Chelsey, who has her wrapped around her little painted pink toenails. :)

ru4Liberty and Chelsey,
Thank You For Being Today's FR's Finest!

Good morning from VA Beach!

Got all three Hs today again: hot, hazy, humid. It sucks. We need rain. Got a brief storm last night/this morning that knocked all the clocks off whack. Luckily my alarm clock stayed true to correct time so I could get everyone up and out the door this morning.

Kids are doing great. JJ starts school in September, he'll be attending his 'home school', meaning the school closest to our house. Finally. When we first moved here in Feb they didn't have any openings in the class he needed (he's autistic) so he had to be bused across town.

Hubby is out to sea on a short underway (don't mention midshipmen to him any time soon). Otherwise, all is good here.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, Severa - nice to hear from you. Hot, hazy AND humid does indeed suck - yuk! I don't much care for humid any way it's dished out though!

Hello Virginia Beach. I have a nephew stationed out there. He's out to sea, also. But, unfortunately, he'll be gone until December. Hope he'll be back home to KC for the holidays. Pray for our sailors and all our soldiers.

We need rain.

We got too much down in Florida! It's good that we need it, but it's getting old. Our road washed out a few weeks ago - only big trucks with 4x4 could make the run : )

I wish we could package up all those rain clouds and send them to our Western states to help stop those fires!

Looks like Morgan Freeman....

It's Kofi Annan, of the United Nations.
I can see the resemblance, too.

Aw hell he just left what, last month, on their 6 month? *big hugs* I watched her pull out on the local news. Know how ya feel. Hubby was on his first 6 month deployment from Oct to April. (He's a sonar tech on a fast attack sub). Hell at least your nephew is on a carrier that has access to decent snail mail and email services. My husband's sub's email server is *unmentionable insert here*

Her mother decided that 10-year-old Susie should get something practical for her birthday. "Suppose we open a savings account for you?"

Susie was delighted.

"It's your account," Susie's mother said as they entered at the bank, "so you fill out the application."

Susie was doing fine until she came to the space for "Name of your former bank." With just a slight hesitation, she put down "Piggy."

Here's hoping for a delightful day for all.

Mornin' Billie. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood - even without Mr. Rogers.

Congratulations ru4. Keep on posting your terrific stuff.

That's the one. I do email him but he says he prefers actual letters because when mail call comes he likes to be able to get an actual letter so I sent him one. I don't know how long it takes to get there. But he loves the navy. He re-enlisted last year. He joined at 18 and he'll be 31 next month. BTW, it's hot and humid here in KC, too. We need some rain also. Give my best to your hubby for a safe return.
