McDermott's Flying Monkeys
Illinois Leader.com; NewsMax.com ^ | 9.30.2002 | Kevin McCullough

In recent days it has become increasingly clear why this November 5th is more important than ever. Political consultants and pollsters are all reporting that they are expecting turn out to be down 18-25% lower than what is usual turnout. Politicians are clearly worried about it and patriots should be.

In the state of Illinois we have been wrangling with specific issues related to the candidates since the very contentious primary season fall one year ago. But after a good sweeping out of the party's old style establishment on the state central committee and the naming of a new GOP Chairman for Illinois, things are starting to look more like the GOP that the rest of the nation sees.

One of the things Republicans are blessed with in Illinois are horrible opponents. Former Clinton liberal running for Governor, scandal plagued State Senator who is running for Attorney General - but knows less about case law than most hamsters populating local pet stores, and a guy running for U.S. Senate who knows more about making vitriolic speeches in Senate Judiciary committee than the actual qualifications of those he just rubber stamps - REJECT - on for his party bosses. Horrible candidates, they are, but horrible candidates that just might get elected if people who are concerned with the good of their families don't get off their backside and turn out and vote them down.

And horrible candidates with the initial "D" behind their name seem to be in large supply. Anybody look at the polling numbers on what Americans thought about those two "winning" (oops I meant wincing) speeches made by the two grand Kahuna's of the Democratic party? Al Gore and Tom Daschle looked like two competitive junior high aged kids trying to beat each other to the front of the lunch line. If being a lunatic were in fashion this last week - then Democrats had it "going on". Not only did both Gore and Daschle make strange attempts at getting "mic time", they also picked the single subject that Americans would least likely ever turn to them for advice on. In fact I did a poll down at the "Cozy Corner" Coffee Shop - and it was unanimous everyone having breakfast in the place would rather Joe the Janitor be put in charge of our war on terrorism than either Gore or Daschle and when listed together Joe's lead jumped by a margin of 3 to 1.

But not only do the Democrats have horrible candidates in Illinois, and insane leadership in the party, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein just this last week got caught admitting that while on a recent trip to Europe she was, and I quote "just too embarrassed to wear the flag of her country on her lapel." Embarrassed? The only thing America should be embarrassed of is the fact that we have a segment of our population that has sunk to the ridiculously low level of intelligence to vote Feinstein into office.

But she wasn't the only Democrat dissing her country behind their back. No, the real poster child for the Democratic party, after a week in which so much entertainment has come from their side of the aisle, came from Washington Congressman Jim McDermott.

On Sunday McDermott, (cue announcer voice) "broadcasting live from beautiful downtown Baghdad" had this little tidbit, "It would not surprise me if they (the administration) came with some information that is not provable. I think the president (current not predecessor) would mislead the American people." He went on to add, "You don't start out putting a gun to the head saying we're gonna shoot if you blink."

Now I know in the Congressman's little pea-sized brain, he and his buddy David Bonior (D-Michigan), believe that maybe this time Saddam Hussein and his band of merry men will let the good little inspectors in. Bonior and McDermott both indicated that their hosts for this little September holiday they've taken to Baghdad have promised to let them see everything they would like. So maybe, just by chance, Bonior and McDermott got to actually see all of the facilities that are developing the nuclear, chemical, and bio-terror weapons that little "Saddy" is having fun with. Yeah - and maybe monkeys fly too.

Never mind this morning's article in the Los Angeles Times, a property of the Chicago Tribune, that did a full scale profile of how Saddam's son Qusai (pronounced "kwa-zy" - like the "wabbit") has had as his primary job that of weapons inspections misinformation. Including a team of 2000 operatives some of whom create car crashes and other traffic delays, others of whom purposefully take the inspectors to the wrong location, and thirdly the group that moves the illegal agents from the places that the inspectors finally got to see.

Of course Al Gore, Dick Durbin, Tom Daschle, & Dianne Feinstein don't see a threat in Hussein and all said so this week - so obviously this ray of golden optimism is something that must be true then.

Of course the answer to all of this is clear. McDermott has acted in a way that is equitable to treason. To be in an enemy's capital city, to say that this American President would lie in order to achieve his political aspirations is asinine. President Bush has been made fun of in many ways, he's been ridiculed unfairly by many groups. No one has ever questioned his truthfulness with the American people. It was Mr. McDermott's party leadership that had trouble remembering what the word "is" meant. McDermott was treated harshly by Senator Lott on the news channels on Sunday saying basically that the congressman should "shut up and come home." I think the sentiment of the American people is reflecting this as well. But that's not enough. McDermott should be impeached on the grounds that he is not fit to serve in office. Once he is removed from office he should be tried for treason. After he is convicted - then do whatever you want with him - lock him away for a 150 years, nothing but bread and water for him, whatever - just do it.

For those not in position to react to McDermott directly here's what you do. Call twenty of your friends ask them to go to www.operationvote.com and make sure they register to vote. A week before call all twenty of them back and volunteer to drive them to the polling place. On the way there make sure they know the issues involved in each race, and if they ask you who you would vote for don't hesitate a bit. (The union bosses that will be doing the same thing on this day will actually make threats of their members so don't be shy to speak up with your friends) Then the day of, pick them up, go vote - take them for breakfast or buy them a cup of coffee, turn it in to something fun. And at the end of the day, if Durkin ekes out a win over Durbin in Illinois, or Thune wins, or any of those other single seats in the Senate changes hands from the (D)ark Side of the force to that of the (R)epublic 'For which it stands', you will know that you did what was needed at a time when your city, state, and nation needed it most.

Of course all of this will really make people like McDermott start arguing that monkeys actually do fly...(sigh) oh but don't worry we'll fight that battle another day!

McDermott, before he went to Iraq to suckle at Saddam's knees, loaned little traitor Tommy Da$$hole his favorite book. Tommy can't put this book down.

McDermott is a point clymer for the Rats, and he has been one for years as per the tape the phoney couple got in Floriduh with Newt.

If a republican had tapes like that, he/she would have gone to jail after being tried by the left wing mediots.

Is this guy related to Hanoi Jane? Democrats talk the talk of traitors.

Remember, McDermott is the Congresscritter who accepted the illegal tape of a cell phone conversation among Newt Gingrich and some of his aides and delivered it to the New York Times. That is patently illegal.

Ah, they must be talking about ex-"Chief Psychiatrist," Long Beach Naval Station, Jim McDermott... it figures.

. . .whoa. . .I had forgotten about that worse than a weasel incident by which McDermott escaped his just reward.

Have not heard anybody reference this or 'frame' this, so to speak for the American Public. .

McDermott is a traitor, a crook and a poster boy for Rats in Congress. Amazing how long this suit has been dragged around. Again there is no controlling legal authority over the Rats in states like Washington.

Not those two. They are certified leftists. This is a Bhagdad Bonoir, Mufti McDermit moment. The only thing missing is Hanoi Jane sitting in an anti-aircraft gun firing at jets enforcing the no-fly zone.
