GIANT SACRAMENTO "DUMP DAVIS" FREEP A BIG SUCCESS, with over 100 attending!
Self | 10/19/2002 | David H Dennis

Posted on 10/19/2002 5:40:53 PM PDT by daviddennis

Over 100 freepers and friends gathered in Sacramento, showing steely-eyed determination to "Dump Davis".

People filtered into the rally gradually, to the point that one moment it seemed almost empty and then we had a huge crowd to contend with. And all of them - peaking at over 100 people towards the end - showed their determination to "Dump Davis" through their signs, slogans and passion.

The formal portion of the rally started with a continuation of what was already happening, organized chanting of "Dump Davis, Dump Davis now", "Bill Simon Save Us ... From Gray Davis" and many more. Chants were led by both eGray hookers (clearly starting a fashion trend), ChickenMan, and two splendid costumed people: The Coin Operated Governor Guy, dressed as a cash register, with a costume lovingly made, and the truly over the top brilliant three-eyed fish, symbolizing the dumping of dioxin. The Davis bandit girl deserved support as not only having a great costume, but being the creator of the Coin Operated Governor Costume, which looked great.

The leftists mounted an incredibly weak response to the rally, which I suspect few noticed. About four people waved the standard boring "Experience you trust ... values we share" sign we've seen everywhere in the Davis campaign. Unfortunately, by the time I broke away from the speeches to film them, they were already gone. I think they were a little afraid of the obvious passion and drive of the crowd.

Next came the speeches, with any reference to electing Simon or dumping Davis provoking highly enthusiastic responses. Saundra Duffy wowed the crowd with her powerful anti-Davis arguments, and a woman I know only as Barbara made an amazingly powerful fire-breathing speech. This was a day of emotion, not logic, with the crowd eager to hear just about anything that inflamed their passions either for Simon or against Davis.

At the end, RonDog rallied the crowd to really stand up and be counted. He got them all near the steps of the capitol, all roaring with "Dump Davis". We then went over to the dump truck, stationed near the capitol, where there were more chants and cries. It was all very impressive, with well over 100 people in attendance, all chanting their hearts out.

After the rally, we left for the nearby Hyatt hotel to play my film, consisting of the freeper videos I have produced. This was the first time people were able to see what I'd done on the big (or at least not postage stamp sized) screen. Everyone seemed very impressed, including Jim Robinson.

This was a great freep, well worth the fare to Sacramento. I should mention that in honor of my first visit to Sacramento, I decided to obey their proposed laws and rent an electric car. It cost about the same as a Taurus, and barely got me to the Capitol and back before running out of power. (The Capitol is about 9 miles from the airport). I hope that if the legislature eventually requires 10% of all cars sold to be electric, they force themselves to drive only electric cars. That won't last long, trust me.

All in all, then, this was a magnificent freep, and I would like to thank RonDog for organizing it, Saundra and x for her kind hospitality, and the cast of hundreds that made this possible!

That cute little green car was a FReeper rental? I understand that GM cancelled their lease program-- infuriating many satisfied electric vehicle enthusiasts. For a mere $38,000, e-vz are a little out of my price range, but rich demoRAT and envirowackos now have a place to put their money where their mouth is and do something about all this bad CA air. /sarcasm

Here's my speech given at the DUMP DAVIS! Rally today:

I want you all to know how proud I am of Bill Simon. How he has withstood Gray Davis’s campaign of terror is absolutely amazing. I stand in awe of our Nominee. How many of us could have survived such a malicious onslaught of lies, deceit – the politics of personal destruction.

Don’t get me wrong; I fully understand why Gray Davis masterminded the most twisted and evil attack in the history of this State. First of all, it comes natural to him. He can't help it; that's just the way he is. Furthermore, he has no positives of his own to run on. Gray Davis’s only hope is to destroy his opponent. So he spent upwards of $22 million dollars to try and destroy a good man. What a colossal waste of money! One thing our creepy governor will never understand is that INTEGRITY CANNOT BE BOUGHT OR SOLD OR DESTROYED – not even with $22 million dollars. As a matter of fact, Bill Simon is a better man today than he was six months ago. Adversity builds character!

I do have one criticism of Bill Simon, however, and that is that he’s too nice and he’s not a slick, savvy politician. But now that I think about it – even that’s a good thing! We don’t need another "slick willy" politician – we need a leader, a compassionate conservative, a governor with a heart of gold – and that’s our Bill Simon!

There’s so much to dislike about Gray Davis. Where to start? So many reasons to DUMP DAVIS! Let’s see . . .We don't have all day so I'll just name a few:

One thing that really bothers me is the way Gray Davis lumps people into tidy little voting blocks so he can exploit them to the hilt. I call it "sexual and racial profiling". For example, Gray Davis sees women as this vast sea of voting female flesh. He seems to think we only care about abortion and all he has to say is, "I’m for a woman’s right to choose" and we’ll all bow down and follow him like dumb little sheep to the slaughter. Well, the women I know like to think for themselves. We are not ignorant, one-issue voters. We are citizens of California FIRST. Don’t single us out; don’t target us; and stop talking about WOMEN’S ISSUES. ALL ISSUES ARE WOMEN’S ISSUES!!!

Bill Simon is not ashamed to say he’s pro life and pro family and that’s okay by me; he treats all people with respect and dignity. Bill Simon is not the one exploiting women. He’s a fine, decent, husband, father and civic leader. Maybe if Gray Davis had had children of his own, he’d have a heart for our struggling working families.

Gray Davis also thinks he’s got minorities all figured out and in his pocket. Throw ‘em a few crumbs, render a little hollow lip service, and they’ll follow the women right down that primrose path. That is disgusting behavior for a governor. I am offended to the core of my being! For God’s sake LET US THINK FOR OURSELVES.

And don’t even get me started on unions! I’m a lowly clerical worker. I pay union dues yet my union board voted to endorse Gray Davis for Governor. They didn’t even bother to consult the rank and file. Welcome to Gray Davis’s People’s Republic of California! Davis has some kind of racket going on here. The unions have become, for the most part, nothing but a front for the democrat machine. It’s extortion, plain and simple! Union members who happen to be from the Green Party or the Republican Party are being – ARE YOU READY - DISENFRANCHISED! It’s like taxation without representation. Like I said, don’t even get me started on these corrupt unions.

In 17 short days, we have the opportunity to elect a man who could very likely be the greatest governor this state has ever known. Isn’t it ironic that Bill Simon will be replacing, very likely, the worst governor this state has ever known?!

Although he’s been out-spent SIX TO ONE, and the media has piled on, Bill Simon is finally getting his message out. A vote for Bill Simon will save our schools, save our economy, save our environment. Wait a minute! Can you believe this? A Republican needs to save the environment from an industrial polluting democrat!? California’s environmental issues have been up for sale to the highest bidder under Gray Davis’s "pay to play" shabby policies.

Now what’s up with this AB 1493, what conservatives are calling "the Kiyoto Treaty for California". Bill Simon said he would have vetoed it in a heart beat. Gray Davis actually signed a bill into law which will reek havoc on our transportation choices. He’s trying to take away our SUV’s, mini vans and trucks by taxing us to death and by rationing and controlling the number of miles we are allowed to travel. This is an absolute outrage that must be overturned before we’re all reduced to traveling in electric golf carts or packed like sardines in buses and cable cars. Hello! Gray Davis – this is America. We don’t take orders from the United Nations! We demand freedom to travel as we see fit!!!

Speaking of transportation, did you know that BART ridership is down? Know why? JOBS ARE DOWN. Under Gray Davis, unemployment rates have risen. Businesses are fleeing the state in droves. We used to be the FIFTH LARGEST ECONOMY IN THE WORLD but now we’re the sixth – surpassed by France! FRANCE! Even the inept bumbling pro terrorist French have surpassed us. This is an international humiliation!!

There isn't one California board for which Gray Davis has appointing authority that doesn't have at least one sitting member who is a Davis campaign cash contributor and many boards are stacked with Davis's cash cows. It's a scandal and today's San Francisco Chronicle has a story about three wealthy donors who got what they wanted from the California Coastal Commission thanks to Gray Davis's corruption. Gray Davis has put our state up for sale to the highest special-interest bidders. It's despicable, deplorable, disgusting, and I hope Gray Davis is held accountable some day - go to jail!

Finally, my last comment on why we need to DUMP DAVIS! The guy is a health nut. I don’t trust health nuts. He looks pasty, weasley, sickly and creepy. Give me a red blooded American boy scout type any day.

"Somebody save us . . . from Gray Davis!" That somebody is Bill Simon, my hero, my choice for Governor. DUMP DAVIS! GO, SIMON!!!

Mark Williams showed up (KBFK AM 1530)! What a pleasant surprise. He was recording and he gave a rousing little speech. Great guy. So we had Hugh Hewitt, Eric Hogue and Mark Williams - not to mention Matt Drudge - touting our rally. As far as I'm concerned, our event was a huge success. Boy am I pooped tonight. Better go to bed and try to get some sleep. Hope you're feeling better, Sis. We missed you today but understand how hard it is to drive all that far, especially when you're not feeling well. You take care. For victory & freedom!!!

Are you trying to say I'm not logical?! Huh! LOL! Okay, so I'm emotional. I think too much logic is dangerous. Anyway, I had a ball today. Yahoo! And you, daviddennis, are a great videographer. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the footage of your previous exploits. This was one great day. For victory & freedom!!! (I really am going to bed now.)

I just hope that all your tremendous efforts will not have been fruitless.

  • PREDICTION OR WISHFUL THINKING?

GRAY DAVIS WINS................DOG CATCHER OF L.A. after being resoundingly defeated in his race to recapture the Govenor's Chair.

Since on your profile page you chose not to identify the state in which you live, I will assume that you do NOT live in California, so that your absolutely CLUE-less remarks (posted above) can be justified by an ignorance based upon misinformation widely promoted in the mainstream media.

If so, you really need to get out more. :o)

Turn off the TV, throw away those left-wing newspapers, and start following the pro-Simon, anti-Davis FReep threads on this forum, if you REALLY want to know what is going on out here.
And, lest you think that my words are just "...the adrenaline-driven, reality-erasing overdrive that keeps even hopeless candidates frenetic as they near the November finish line...," check out this recent analysis by one of the most well-respected minds in American conservative thought:

LAST SATURDAY morning, after another pratfall in a star-crossed, accident-prone and banana-peel-strewn campaign, a nevertheless ebullient Bill Simon, Republican candidate for governor in a state (California) that has not voted for a Republican Presidential or senatorial candidate since 1988 or for a Republican gubernatorial candidate since 1994, said: “We’re close.” Noting the incredulity of his interlocutor, he added: “I swear.”

I was asking permission to repost your great speech in other forums and news groups with the appropriate link back to here.

The civil unrest, i.e. hiphoppers, Bay Area bottle chucking riot thugs downtown that spilled into my neighborhood for the past two hours didn't allow me near the p.c. to read your question.

It's so nice to have liberals running your Capitol City while bashing our cops over nonexistant racial profiling. I wonder if any of our overnight visitors heard the air unit overhead declaring the Old Sacramento and Convention Center party goers an unlawful assembly, the cars spinning doughnuts at 13th - 15th and J Streets and the shots fired? Hard to belive how ugly our city becomes at midnight every weekend given how beautiful it was this afternoon.

Just remember this... Gray Davis feels so safe here, that he took ALL our CHP Problem Oriented Police off the street and assigned the to his Protective Detail. The rest play taxi drivers to drunk state VIPs amd department heads. Never a campaign issue however. Off limits I guess, but we live it every night. Strange how the 1%ers get away with madness while we pay the price. It's an old old story: See http://crimewatch.us/hiphop.htm

GREAT speech, Saundra Duffy!
EXTRAORDINARY FReep, Northern Callifornia FReepers!!!
I need some help here, though!
In just a few hours I will be driving 150+ miles to Coachella to watch the "Chicken Man's" back as he and Tony in Hawaii and a few others go head-to-head with large numbers of UFW union thugs on their home turf - so I will again be OFFLINE for most of today.
PLEASE add your DETAILED (positive!) comments, observations and PHOTOGRAPHS to this thread ASAP - and BUMP anyone that was there to do the same.
I was driving the DUMP TRUCK back to the rental company for a few hours immediately following the FReep, so I missed watching the daviddennis "Greatest Hits" video of our previous "Dump DAVIS!" rallies in L.A. - when he played it for you guys in Sacramento.
What did you think?
Processing, editing and posting FReep videos is very TIME-CONSUMING - so the video from yesterday's FReep will not be available until some time next week - and it will be POWERFUL and COMPELLING at that time, but we need YOUR (positive) FReep reports NOW!
What part of the FReep did you like BEST???
Who were all those college kids from Davis?

What about the weak (lame!) MINI-counter-protest of the union thugs?

Can you summarize some of the chants you heard, the COSTUMES you saw, your impressions of the DUMP TRUCK, the WONDERFUL speakers, all of the non-FReepers who were there, etc., etc., etc.
I expect to see OVER ONE HUMDRED (positive, uplifting) POSTS on this thread by the time that I get back from our "showdown in the desert" later this afternoon!
One of the MOST IMPORTANT parts of every successful FReep is the post-FReep report, to permanently document EXACTLY what happened while the events are still fresh in your memory, and to SHARE our victory with FRiends (and even ENEMIES) all across California, and the world.
What say you, fellow "Dump DAVIS!" FReepers?
Will you help me make this THREAD as wonderful as the FReep was?

We are apparently still "on probation" out here, but if we can show the "Big Guy" that our efforts are SUCCEEDING, and our momentum is BUILDING, he may give us the final PUSH that we need to go over the top on November 5th, form:

CALIFORNIA HERE I COME

While the national media continue to push the idea that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon is toast, the White House isn't so sure. According to one Bush Administration source, some tracking polls in the California -- even one apparently paid for by Gov. Gray Davis's campaign -- show Simon within five points of the Democrat.

"If those numbers can be borne out, and they hold, you'll see Bush in there at least once or twice before the election," says the White House source. "We aren't just going to give up on that. But the numbers have to be there."

Such a swing through California would probably focus on the southern part of the state, where Simon could have more swing votes. Bush would also use the left-coast trip to return by way of New Mexico, Texas and Florida, all states where critical election fights are being waged...

As I posted on another thread,
On Thursday, Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the National Republican Campaign Committee, singled out Simon's bid to unseat Democratic Gov. Gray Davis as the party's worst campaign anywhere.

"I don't think there's a worse-run race in the country than the governor's race in California for the Republicans," Davis said at the National Press Club...

O.K., now I am REALLY pissed off.

It's time for some REGIME change, and here is MY order of priority:

1 - "FIRE Gray Davis!"
2- Squash Sadam, and his "anti-war" supporters at home, and abroad - and
3 - PERMANENTLY purge all of the VILE "fifth column" back-stabbing Eleventh-Commandment-violating weak-knee-ed lily-livered RINOs like THIS bozo from the ranks of the GOP.
From Ask Yahoo!:

Dear Yahoo!

How was the term "fifth column" coined?

Matt
Columbia, Maryland

Dear Matt:

Great question! The Fifth Column. The Fourth Estate. The Third Man. All of these phrases can get confusing. According to Britannica.com, a fifth column refers to any clandestine group or faction of subversive agents who attempt to undermine a nation's solidarity.

Who came up with the phrase, and what's with the columns? Emilio Mola Vidal, a Nationalist general during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), originally coined the term. As four of his army columns moved on Madrid, the general referred to his militant supporters within the capital as his "fifth column," intent on undermining the loyalist government from within.

So the fifth column is a group of secret sympathizers or supporters of an enemy that engage in espionage or sabotage within defense lines or national borders...
