GIANT SACRAMENTO "DUMP DAVIS" FREEP A BIG SUCCESS, with over 100 attending!
Self | 10/19/2002 | David H Dennis

Posted on 10/19/2002 5:40:53 PM PDT by daviddennis

Over 100 freepers and friends gathered in Sacramento, showing steely-eyed determination to "Dump Davis".

People filtered into the rally gradually, to the point that one moment it seemed almost empty and then we had a huge crowd to contend with. And all of them - peaking at over 100 people towards the end - showed their determination to "Dump Davis" through their signs, slogans and passion.

The formal portion of the rally started with a continuation of what was already happening, organized chanting of "Dump Davis, Dump Davis now", "Bill Simon Save Us ... From Gray Davis" and many more. Chants were led by both eGray hookers (clearly starting a fashion trend), ChickenMan, and two splendid costumed people: The Coin Operated Governor Guy, dressed as a cash register, with a costume lovingly made, and the truly over the top brilliant three-eyed fish, symbolizing the dumping of dioxin. The Davis bandit girl deserved support as not only having a great costume, but being the creator of the Coin Operated Governor Costume, which looked great.

The leftists mounted an incredibly weak response to the rally, which I suspect few noticed. About four people waved the standard boring "Experience you trust ... values we share" sign we've seen everywhere in the Davis campaign. Unfortunately, by the time I broke away from the speeches to film them, they were already gone. I think they were a little afraid of the obvious passion and drive of the crowd.

Next came the speeches, with any reference to electing Simon or dumping Davis provoking highly enthusiastic responses. Saundra Duffy wowed the crowd with her powerful anti-Davis arguments, and a woman I know only as Barbara made an amazingly powerful fire-breathing speech. This was a day of emotion, not logic, with the crowd eager to hear just about anything that inflamed their passions either for Simon or against Davis.

At the end, RonDog rallied the crowd to really stand up and be counted. He got them all near the steps of the capitol, all roaring with "Dump Davis". We then went over to the dump truck, stationed near the capitol, where there were more chants and cries. It was all very impressive, with well over 100 people in attendance, all chanting their hearts out.

After the rally, we left for the nearby Hyatt hotel to play my film, consisting of the freeper videos I have produced. This was the first time people were able to see what I'd done on the big (or at least not postage stamp sized) screen. Everyone seemed very impressed, including Jim Robinson.

This was a great freep, well worth the fare to Sacramento. I should mention that in honor of my first visit to Sacramento, I decided to obey their proposed laws and rent an electric car. It cost about the same as a Taurus, and barely got me to the Capitol and back before running out of power. (The Capitol is about 9 miles from the airport). I hope that if the legislature eventually requires 10% of all cars sold to be electric, they force themselves to drive only electric cars. That won't last long, trust me.

All in all, then, this was a magnificent freep, and I would like to thank RonDog for organizing it, Saundra and x for her kind hospitality, and the cast of hundreds that made this possible!

Just one little change in your speech if I may:

I’m a lowly conservative, with the heart of a lion, in addition to being a clerical worker.

...I am dead serious about what Rove's people are doing to conservative participation and conservative candidates in the GOP.
We had better undersand what that portends and who is the true source of that political thrust.
I appreciate your concern.
IMHO, though, the way to deal with these wimpy "diplomats" - like Karl Rove (and Colin Powell) - is to present them with a "fait accompli" - as we ALREADY DID - by handing [the national GOP's "golden boy"] RINO Riordan his head in the primaries, and like we WILL DO - by "Dumping DAVIS!" in the general election next month.
Then, on November SIXTH, we can ask Karl Rove (et. al.) the same question that Patton asked Bradley:
...On the day that Patton's Third Army had taken the German city of Trier, Bradley sent orders not to try to capture it, as Patton had only two divisions.
Bradley and his planners said that it would require at least three divisions to capture the historic city.

Once again, Patton was right.

He sent a reply to Bradley,

"Have taken city with two divisions, shall I give it back?"
He also entered in his diary, "I have certainly again proven that my military ideas are correct and I have put them over in SPITE of opposition from the Americans."
Memo to Mr Rove:
"We have taken California WITHOUT your support.
Shall we give it back?"
No more from me for a while.
The union thugs in Coachella await me. :o)

It's all about turn-out now.

What can *we* do to help?

Convince two people that wouldn't have voted to vote to Dump Davis. Offer to pick them up and bring them with you to the polls. Offer to buy lunch if necessary.

I believe the problem with the lease program is that it included maintenance. Once the batteries died in the car, it would be prohibitively expensive to replace them, compared to the lease payments.

There are plenty of EV-1 owners who would have loved to do that despite the horrorific costs, because the car was truly great, at least for people who didn't need to travel long distances (or had a charging station at their destination).

I think it's a great pity those fascinating cars are destined for the crusher after the leases expire.

Thanks!

Also, as I posted previously:

HELP!

WE need more POSITIVE comments, observations and photos posted to this post-FReep thread.

Saundra Duffy and Lager are getting some HEAT from that bozo reporter about "illegal use of a Capitol office for campaign purposes" - so we need to DIVERT the attention BACK TO THE FReep!

Please help - NOW!

Please IGNORE the contorversy about watching a documentary video in Mike's office, and return to our DUTY - which is to post observations, comments and photos of the FReep on the post-FReep thread.

A LOT of time and energy went into this FReep, and it was a HUGE success, but we need to POST a running commentary on this thread - or else no one ELSE will know.

There were a LOT of non-FReepers at this rally, and they cannot - or do not know how - to post their observations here.

But veteran FReepers DO know how, and DO know how important it is to DOCUMENT everything that happened HERE - NOW! - while the emotions are still FRESH in you minds.

What did YOU think of the crowd?
WHO was there?
What costumes did you like?
What about the DUMP TRUCK?
What about the SPEECHES?
The giant "FIRE Gray Davis" sign?

We need people to post the words to the chants.
What did people around you think about this rally?
What will YOU remember most about this?

Please POST your comments ASAP!!!

Ron

The WONDERFUL FReep video from this event will be out NEXT WEEK, but we need a good post-FReep thread NOW!!!

Thank you.

IMHO, the FReep is not over until the post-FReep report is completed!
