Lately I've been seeing a lot of anti-muslim posts on Free Republic. I think many of you who have posted ought to be ashamed and I think it ought to stop.

The total hatred and prejudice flowing out of you is overwhelming. You have reason to hate your attackers. You have reason to go to war with them. You have reason to seek justice. But you do not have any reason to act like biggoted Clymers toward people who have had nothing to do with those attacks. And there are many, many muslims in America that fit that billing. The president has recognized them. I support him whole-heartedly, as I do in the war effort. And those who are reasonable, do too.

What do you stand for? The people's rights or getting your own way?

It's been there for a long time. It did not
refer to the biblical Ishmael, and though I
do know the story of thatIshmael, I confess, he
did not cross my mind when I created my profile.
I was thinking merely of Melville.

I am also sorry for what innocent muslims -
particularly in America have to go through these days.

But, Ironically, my roots are jewish. My Grandfather was
fortunate enough to make it to America before the Germans
slaughtered much of his Chezchleslovakian family.

I do not agree with Islamic teaching. But American atheists
and christians have about as much right to call for the
death of muslims as I have to call for the death of germans.
I have none.

Look. I'm not trying to convince you that the Koran is a lovely book, alright?

Let me explain this to you:

A lot of you probably consider yourselves Christians.

Jesus himself said, "Love your enemies."
Well, you're not following that really well.

Just as you stray from the guidlines laid down in the bible,
many muslims stray from the guidlines laid down in the
koran.

Most muslims in America do not go about slaughtering the "infidel." In fact, most live very peacefully. And those
you have no right to slaughter.

This war has been going on for almost 1400 years. The Muslims are clearly winning in the larger historical context. They started out with a patch of desert; destroyed Christianity in the Mid-East and North Africa; almost did the same in the Balkans and Spain; exterminated all the Buddhists and Zoroastrians of Afghanistan and Central Asia and are now on a world wide offensive from New York to Bosnia to Chechnya to Kashmir to Mindanao etc. When will it stop?

As another Jew, I can agree with you that not all Muslims are going to go to war with us.(Us being the one's that have been targeted by the extremists.)

However, there is a war afoot. Taking sides will not be easy, non-muslims may split between those who belive in self defense and those who do not. Muslims will certainly be split between those who seek a world Caliphate and those who have adapted Islam into a religion with a live and let live world view.

The muslims seeking world accomodation for their religion are part of the extremists. One cannot defend what that have done and cannot defend what else they plan. And in war, some people will be hurt on both sides because they stand in the way, innocent or not.

Do not try to lecture Christians about Christ. As a christian I enjoy lectures about him.

The koran and the haddith both demand, and require, the killing of non-islamists, or of people who leave islam. The Bible does not require killing anywhere.

Try Leviticus. The bible requires killing homosexuals, adulterers and adultresses, murderers and other sinners.

In the same way that many (if not most) christians allow homosexuals to live. Many muslims allow the people they see as infidels to live. And if they're letting infidels live, and they're living peacably, no one has any right to murder them. No matter what the koran says. Makes about as much sense as executing a christian for murder because leviticus says he's supposed to kill gays.

As to loving your enemy, this does not require that we bend over and let these pigs murder us, in fact we are required to protect innocents. By killing IF required.

I never said anything about letting our people be murdered. Let me make this clear. I support the war. I support killing murderers. I support punishing the guilty. But as you say, we are required to protect the innocent. Therefore, we should protect them and not ask for their deaths.
