Can You Help America?

Can You Help America?

Are you willing to give five minutes or more of your time to think about a solution to a very costly problem that exists in every State in the Union?

If you listen to Rush Limbaugh on TV or on his radio show, you will hear him discuss how dumb and ineffective Democrats can be. He has been saying that the Democrats are only good at whining about problems, not at fixing problems. Rush says the Republicans are the only party that actually fixes problems. Do you believe this? FreeRepublic.com is overflowing with Republicans isn't it? I propose that the Republican FReepers attempt to find a solution to this major problem and demonstrate to America just how effective Republicans (and FReepers) can be.

In the early 1960s, approximately 62,000 illegal aliens came across the Mexican border, and the INS considered this notable and worthy of action. Now, in the first decade of the 21st Century, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens enter the United States across the Mexican border each year and the INS declares the problem too big to tackle because nothings stems the tide. Federal immigration laws state that sneaking into America without going through the INS Border Patrol stations is illegal. Hiring an illegal alien is illegal. Sheltering an illegal alien is illegal. And keeping knowledge from law enforcement as to the whereabouts of an illegal alien is illegal. With Agenda 21, the politicians are looking at every way possible to give those who break these laws a pass by granting amnesty and American citizenship to illegal immigrants. Agenda 21 means effectively removing the borders between Mexico and the US. NAFTA just opened our roads to tractor trailers from Mexico. This situation will become much worse.

This problem has been ignored in just about every city and county in America while costing exorbitant amounts of taxpayer dollars, spent on social welfare and the education of illegal aliens. Ignoring this problem also comes with the cost of an increasing crime rate resulting in too many American citizens being victims at the hands of illegal aliens. Governments at all levels, federal, state and local are not protecting America's federal nor State sovereignty,. nor are they protecting American citizens.

Why should you and I support a federal lawbreaker in our State? So an incumbent politician can get reelected with their illegal vote? I don't think so!

Matricula consular identification cards are solid identification of an illegal allien. If you can't show a birth certificate, a Visa or a green card then you are an illegal alien who has broken our immigration laws. They must leave America and reenter within our laws. We shouldn't have to amend our laws to accommidate lawbreakers! What example does that set for those who are attempting to enter America legally? Much more important: What example does this give our children? That breaking the law can be a rewarding act? If our immigration laws carry no penalty for being broken, why should bank robbery, or molesting children be punished? Do we make our laws for them to be ignored by aliens and politicians? Is a vote more precious than our standards and ideals? Our politicians must believe so, judging from their responses.

The words "protect the people" are found in virtually every Oath of Office taken by elected and appointed officials in the US, including the police chiefs, mayors, county sheriffs, state legislators, governors, congressional representatives, and senators. Sadly, not one of these officials on the public dole is taking their Oath of Office seriously when it comes to the issue of illegal immigration.

The Supreme Court of the United States has wisely ruled that the Feds cannot force state, county or city law enforcement officers to enforce federal laws (including immigration laws), and our local and state officials use this as an excuse to turn their heads on the problem of illegal immigration while our communities slide steadily downhill. Government officials continue to demand higher taxes to keep the illegal immigration problems under "control" yet we can only sit back in wonderment as they pay lip service to the problem while actually enacting legislation and policies that encourage people to emigrate to the US illegally with promises of social welfare and education benefits.

Being an American is a primarily a state of mind for all of us - being a proud American is based on the idea of freedom and self-reliance. We are all immigrants from one country or another, and we (or our forebears) became Americans by consciously subscribing to these ideas. We came here legally, we obey the laws and we promote the idea that others obey the laws in the same way. Are we supposed to sit and wait while the political class comes up with the politically correct so-called solutions that fail to keep America strong and our families safe?

How many foreign college students choose each year to stay in America rather than obey the conditions upon which they entered America? How many older vistors choose to stay at the end of their vacations? How many deported criminal aliens return using a different name? How many Muslims are in America illegally studing our open way of life, just waiting for an opportunity to repeat 9/11? I am sure we have illegal aliens from every country in this world enjoying the American lifestyle, helping to bring us down to a third world power. We aren't too far from becoming the country that these people left. The American culture can only absorb so many new residents each year without radical changes. We have passed that number. We must act now before the policical leaders offer them amnesty and permanently defeat our way of life. The time has come to stand up and fight for what we believe in. The Constitution will become wastepaper. The Bill of Rights will become a memory. Our flag will become a symbol of defeat.

If you have listened to Rush, you know the truth of his broadcasts. If you haven't listened to him, here's an opportunity for you to show how good FReeper Republicans can be at finding solutions to our nationwide illegal immigration problems.

So tell us, what should be done to fix the problems of illegal immigration in your community?

#1. Should we acquiesce and allow the illegal immigration to continue while waiting for the elected officials to address the problem in a substantive way?

#2. Should we wait for Federal legislators to compromise our security and way of life by resolving the problem in a manner that is politically correct and acceptable to every nation in the world?

#3. If we continue to send snail mail and email letters to your local and State leaders. Will the roar be ever loud enough to be heard in the highest offices? What will their response be? Submition to illegal immigrants who want to change America forever?

#4. Should we wait until you fly off the handle and lash out at an illegal alien, surely resulting in legal problems that will further harm your family and ruin your life's ambition to be a good and loyal American citizen?

#5. Should you ignore the illegal immigration problem and hope it will go away before it gets much worse?

What should YOU do?
What should WE do?

It is time to stand together to correct this problem. You are the leader in your family. Your kids look to you to protect them. If you don't help us now, will your children be able to look at you with pride or shame in five years. It's your freedom and your way of life that is up for grabs.

It's your choice, you decide what to do before it is too late.

I'm not a DemoncRAT but I'm not a Republican either.
The illegal immigration MUST be stopped using whatever means is neccessary.
If that means rounding them all up and footing the bill one time to send them back to the country of their origin - so be it.
Troops on the border with orders to use deadly force - so be it.
If it isn't stopped now someones long term plan to replace the USA with a third world country will come true.

Thanks for reminding me about the Visa waiver countries for a start, and US citizens without birth certificates for seconds.

You are CORRECT.

First, let's summarize the arguments I've already made.

Okay. There's one additional complication: It's all or nothing. If we fortify part of the border, illegals will sneak across the unfortified section. We have to do the whole thing or nothing at all. In between measures will cost us lots of money and won't reduce the flow of illegals one bit, just as France's infamous Maginot Line didn't help the French when Hitler simply bypassed it.

Fine. Let me now consider your other points.

We are a nation at war, yes.

But are we a nation at war with Mexico or Mexicans?

As far as I know, no.

As I have said in other responses here, no, I don't care where people come from, as long as they are prepared to work hard and provide services to the people of this nation, whether at a high level or a low one. I especially like Cubans; I've met a few and I'm very impressed with their pluck, determination and faith in our system. I have never met a Hatian, so I can't comment directly on them.

But perhaps this is the crux of the matter:

The issue is defending the borders of this soverign nation from those who would invade - one way or another.
Is the appearance of illegals on our shores an invasion? If you think in that way, I can surely see why the current situation would cause a panic.

But the overwhelming majority of illegals are simply here to work, to strive and to improve their economic situation. In other words, they are here to help us. They have no plans to change our government. Even when naturalized, they rarely participate in elections. And do they have weapons, with which they plan to overthrow us? Sorry, no.

Let me give you an example which I think illustrates the different points of view about illegal aliens.

To me, illegal aliens are an opportunity, because we can put them to work alongside with citizens, and overall make more stuff, and therefore more money. We can also become more competitive with factories in China, Mexico and other locations. Therefore, illegals help keep factories operating and our economy humming along.

To you, illegal aliens are a curse, because they displace citizens from jobs. But this is not the whole story; in October of this year, unemployment was low, at about 6.4%. In contrast, employment in Europe has been around 10%, in nations where the border is far less pourous and illegal immigration relatively rare. There were plenty of illegals around when our unemployment rate was at historic lows. I can only conclude that overall employment has expanded and we have successfully absorbed the illegals into our working population. What's wrong with that, then?

In other words, do you consider people coming here to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay to be thieves? I'm sorry, I just can't buy that.

So, since they are willing to become our "underclass" and do all the "grunt" jobs that we "don't want to do" then it's OK to let them in? How much more condescending can you be? This proposal sounds little different from the liberal "we're from the Governement, we're here to "help" you" mentality. And furthermore, who are you to say what jobs people here want and don't want to do? When people enter "survival" mode, they do whatever job they have the opportunity and skill-set to manage to be able to do, all while they find a way to scrabble out of whatever hole they've ended up in.
I certainly didn't mean to be condescending to anyone. I was simply reporting a truth: That Mexicans are lined up at the border, begging to become factory or service workers for very little money. And if they are willing to do this, why not let them in?

The only tenable answer is protection of existing workers. There are two things wrong with this. The first is that, as I have mentioned above, we have a very low unemployment rate and so we have jobs for more workers than we can get. I don't need to remind you what's happened to our birth rate over the past few decades; now that's biting us. Mexicans have the opposite problem - they have too many people and too few jobs. So what's wrong with us borrowing Mexicans and putting them to work? Everyone gains. We gain, with more workers; Mexico gains from the money returned to them, and the workers gain because they get better pay.

The second thing is that, as you have mentioned yourself, we are not training our citizens adequately to take even entry-level jobs. In our telemarketing department, we hire many entry-level people; there is chronic absenteeism and I have seen the effect on the company first-hand. It may be true that some of our citizens need entry level jobs, but when offered them, they often do poorly due to factors you have explored many times in your own threads.

Illegal aliens provide our entry level workers with much needed competition that will cause them to clean up their acts. In the long run, this is good for them, and it's definitely good for society.

Perhaps best of all, entry level in our system doesn't mean entry level forever.

For those who work hard and do great work, promotion is possible. Someone who comes in as a factory hand can eventually become factory manager; today's fast food clerk is tomorrow's fast food manager, or even franchise owner. If you're an illegal, you generally come in at the bottom. But that doesn't mean you have to stay that way.

And that makes me proud to be an American.

D

PS I apologise for the length of this; I hope I have now successfully addressed all your points.

The NRA does this, if I am not mistaken.

Yep, the NRA sometimes gives Democrat candidates their support (if the GOP opposition happens to be anti-gun).

Simple, cut off welfae payments to immigrants who haven't worked a ceartin amount of quaters and paid into the tax system. Problem is, it will never happen, it makes too much sense.

No public benefits or services for illegals except immediate medical attention to save life or limb. (Then they get deported). Business who hire illegals are closed for a period of time.

I've always been conflicted on the immigration issue. My grandfather was an illegal immigrant. But he worked very hard his whole life, paid taxes, learned English, and actually made some money in the stock market. He went from being penniless to being decidedly middle class. My whole family is made up of immigrants, most legal, some not.

While I do think that the ridiculous amount of illegals flooding in from Mexico needs to be stemmed, I believe that almost all immigrants don't come here to mooch benefits. They come here because they want a better life for themselves and for their kids. Many Hispanic immigrants want their kids to learn in English even if they watch Spanish TV at home. Hispanics fight against bilingual education.

However, our immigration policies are a mess. The INS is worthless. We do need reform, and I'd be happy to support sensible reform.

I'm sorry, I can't let this one go:

===
Qoute:
We give "special exception" for "refugees" from Cuba, but let's call 'em what they are -- illegal aliens. Those Cubans have entered this country just as illegally as those from Mexico or Haiti. But because we've got a "small" philosophical problem with Fidel Castro, they get a pass? I don't think so.
===

We have far more than a "'small' philosophical problem" with Fidel Castro. I am shocked that anyone who thinks of themselves as a conservative would say this. Our problem with Castro is the same as our problem with the Soviet Union was.

We "give the Cubans a pass" because we choose to do it, we choose to be a harbor for those fleeing tyranny, because it is the right thing to do. Laws should serve Morals, Morals should not serve Law.

Oops, my non-Libertarian roots are showing!

Al Queda IS in this country

Does this appear as though I'm pointing my finger at just Mexico or just Mexicans?

How many foreign college students choose each year to stay in America rather than obey the conditions upon which they entered America? How many older vistors choose to stay at the end of their vacations? How many deported criminal aliens return using a different name? How many Muslims are in America illegally studing our open way of life, just waiting for an opportunity to repeat 9/11? The Constitution will become wastepaper. The Bill of Rights will become a memory. Our flag will become a symbol of defeat.

No, I am wanting all illegal aliens to be ousted and then do a criminal check on them before allowing them back in by the legal method. I don't want anyone who is a criminal in their home country coming to the US looking to avoid prosecution in their own country. How many illegal aliens fit this catagory? Unknown. How many illegals flee to Mexico after committing a crime in the US? Hundreds.

2 million Americans a year lose their jobs to immigrants who accept less pay for the same work.

You don't see anything wrong with illegal aliens who snub their nose at our federal immigration laws?I suppose you are going to say that if an illegal commits a crime he/she should not be brought to court because he/ she came here to help us and was deterred because of our legal system. We should have rewarded this criminal by giving him a job so that he could send money back to Mexico.

Then why do they have their hands out for every source of welfare available? Is this helping us or costing us. Costing us in the billions each year!

Do you have any idea how many Americans have gone beyond unemployment benefits?

Is it difficult to buy weapons in America? Sorry, no.

Have you heard of 911 and the history of these illegals living in the US, going to schools, changing addresses without hinderance? This is a large problem! Somehow we need to keep track of visitors and guest workers.

No, I don't want immigrants to become our "underclass" and do all the "grunt" jobs that we "don't want to do". I want people who understand the values , standards and ideals that we have. I want them to participate in the growth of America. I don't want them to remain the underclass. Grunt work use to be where we sent our children to learn work ethics. Not anymore because those jobs are taken by illegals.

This is the larger problem that I haven't discussed. Daily we have thousands of containers, railroad cars, and barge freight coming into the US that doesn't even get sniffed by dogs. This is where the Border Patrol needs massive re-enforcing.

We should not be rewarding criminals for sneaking into our country. Some are looking for work, others are looking to attack and kill American citizens.

Some good ideas there but I don't believe Sheriffs have any power in counties outside of unincorporated areas. In other words, if the Cook County sheriff wants to do anything in Chicago he will not do it without authorization by the Chicago P.D.

"Remember, when you travel or move to Mexico you cannot pull all the illegal BS down there that Mexico Mexicans, and all the other 4th world nations like Somalia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Russia, etc do."

On a side note. For a spanish class trip for my daughter's class, a meeting was held for the parents and their children that would be attending the class trip to Mexico. We were told (females only) that if we were pinched on the a## while in Mexico (by Mexicans) we were to leave it alone; let it be. We were reminded that we would be in another country and if taken to a Mexican prison, it would be VERY difficult to get any of us out. My first and last time visiting. :)

Now, how can I help??

I liked him he was a bit to the right of Michael Savage with the demeanor of Rush Limbaugh.

We used to have friends in Maine send us a copy until we subscribed ourselves. Then after his son died and he got ordained, he dropped the paper. But, your post reminded me of him, so I thought maybe you were him.

You make an excellent point. Fox can send all his "poor" here, leave all the niceties for the wealthy, paid for with money sent back for the last 30 yrs by the now-illegals. Fox would then have no more problems, and can tax the wealthy all he wants, sit back and enjoy his riches, and laugh at the US..
