Four years ago today, brave Congressmen put their political carriers on the line and voted two Articles of Impeachment against Bill Clinton securing his place in history as the only elected president impeached. Clinton was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice, although we know this was only the tip of the iceberg of this corrupt administration.

Now four years later, we are suffering the consequences of his corruption. Red China stands ready to challenge the US militarily in the near future. North Korea stands prepared to fire nuclear missiles at the Homeland. Osama, who was offered to Clinton numerous times, still causes acts of terror worldwide. Israel is truly threatened with extermination for the first time since 1948.

We attempted to end this four years ago today, but Trent "Eunich" Lott, Tonya Dasshole, etc. refused to allow justice to be done.

My soon-to-be-put-out-to-pasture congressman voted no on all four articles of impeachment.

Three years later the world discovers that he too was giving special counsel to an intern - only this one ended up DEAD.

Perhaps we know why he felt this was a "personal matter" and not worthy of impeachment.

I was very upset with Sen. Lott when this happened, but I believe if he hadn't we would be saying Pres.Gore today. I don't think Pres. Bush would have beat an incumbent as Gore would have been.

I can have little or no respect for Republicans and their ardent supporters due to this willful miscarriage of justice and abrogation of duty. This was the event that caused me to change registrations because I saw that the rank and file Republican chose to continue to vote for and suppport their party hacks instead of seeking justice.

Over a year before the Lewinsky scandal broke, Bob Barr and others in the House were calling for impeachment for treason, on the basis of clinton's transfer of missle guidance and nuclear warhead technology to China in return for campaign cash.

The sex scandals wiped the more serious charges off the media map. This country will never recover from the damage done to our national security and our culture during those eight years of sleaze.

I agree, I'm glad Clinton will go down in history as one of only two impeached presidents. Nothing can change that. But Bush would not have been able to have beaten President Gore (he barely beat Vice President Gore.)

Although he was aweful, and he will be remembered poorly, all Presidents are humans with flaws.
What makes America strong is its people.

I respect the opinions of people (like Rush and many others) who hold Lott blameworthy in this regard. And he certainly does not rank high on my list of favorite Senators. However it is the liberal Senators voting not guilty on both articles who are to blame for the nullification. They condoned Clinton’s crimes on the record and thereby made themselves accessories. They are truly Clinton’s partners in crime. I seem to remember Robert Byrd saying on somebody’s talk show on the eve of the vote that Clinton was guilty in fact. Thence Byrd proceeded to vote not guilty twice. Byrd violated his Senatorial oath to uphold the Constitution and the other oath to render an impartial verdict on the evidence. I believe that no earthly power was going to make the liberals find guilt. And so I hold Lott harmless. Lott cast a vote of guilty twice that day.

I also believe that had the liberals promoted Mr. Gore that day, he would still be in the Oval Office today. Notwithstanding, the nullification was the darkest day in the Senate.

No, truthfully, it won't. Most people think that to be impeached means to be removed from office. Therefore, if you polled the American people and asked them if President Clinton was impeached, I would bet that a majority of them would say no. It will get written in the history books as an impeachment. But for the people who are living during Clinton's time, it doesn't seem like an impeachment because he wasn't removed from office.

Your support of that same Republican party makes you equally culpable.

BTW, you probably voted for Pat more than I did. I voted for HW Bush (against my instincts) and got Clinton. I then held my nose again and voted for Dole and got Cliinton. The stupid, stupid Republicans won a hose majority and then managed to blow it by daring clinton to grow balls. When he did, they lost and never recovered. When they had the goods on clinton regarding money from China, the senate couldn't do anything becasue their hands were dirty, too.

The current crop of Republicans and their supporters show that they are more interested in gaining and maintaining power than observing the Constitution. If clinton were doing was Bush HAS done, you'd be screaming bloody murder. But it's 'your guy' in office, so skirting the Constitution is Okeydokey.

If you and your type hold to form, you'll not respond and defend the actions of the R's, but will instead try to find a way to attack me or my supposed party affiliation.

I told my sister that Clinton would be impeached...2 months before he was elected. I never expected that he'd be re-elected until Dole was nominated.
