The odd thing about Bill Keller's column, is that it makes a solid case for war, through suggesting what the Presidents' advisers are likely telling him, before Keller twists his logic into a doughnut to end up supporting the house policy of Times owner Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and managing editor Howell Raines.

That sounds like the best strategy, if your aim is to get pro-war arguments published in an organ that only publishes anti-war pieces.

Can anyone tell me why the Cradle of Independence is now the Cradle of Socialism? I know that New York lost its mind when they elected that b*tch Hillary 'The Whore' to the Senate, but allowing the Noo Yawk Crimes to get away with this is really pushing it. See what getting in bed with socialist DemocRATs gets you?!

You might want to try the Wall street Journal. Reading the Editorial pages is an education in conservative thinking by the best writers of our time. It's the only paper I read anymore.

Excepting their present HQ......

Of course, liberals want to feel and see your pain, but never their own.

And they have 24-hour security, and ride in taxis, not the subways (where the muggers they are always championing can be found), to make da--ed sure they don't!

In theory, yes, but this guy is a socialist and a newbie columist. He's not going to fight 43rd Street, not even indirectly. Safire, and even Friedman can go their own way, but not Keller, assuming he'd even want to.

I'm going to have to pass on that. I have on occasion found the WT weekly edition at a newsstand, and it is good, but my wife is going nuts just from the papers I bring home (Daily News, New York Post, The Final Call, New York Sun, etc.) ... and keep. Plus, I subscribe to The American Conservative and Middle American News. But I do read an awful lot of WT articles via FR (kattracks, thank you!) and Toogood Reports.

New York, "the Cradle of Independence"? That's a new one on me. In any event, NYC lost its mind long before HILLARY! You've got to go back to Mayor John Lindsay (1966-1973), if not Mayor Robert Walker (1954-1965). Maybe even Fiorello LaGuardia (1934-1945). Under Walker, the city instituted welfare programs at a brisk pace; under Lindsay, it was a jailbreak.

Lindsay may have been the worst mayor in the city's history, but he had help.

When are the liberals in NY going to have enough of this rag and stop buying it?

Me too, and I'm a NYer who's in the industry! As much as there is to admire about the paper, I simply cannot give them money anymore. Period. Howell Raines and his loonies are hell-bent on leaving fairness behind, just like Time, NBC, CNN, even National Geographic - heck, just about any media outlet that has no dissenting voice left on board anymore. Sad, sad, sad.

Thanks for the ping!

The press has become the greatest power within the western countries,
more powerful than the legislative, the executive, and the judiciary.
One would then ask: By what law has it been elected
and to whom is it responsible?  -  Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

The only way to defeat these leftist newspapers is to stop buying them. I wouldn't even use the L.A. Times for bird cage liner.
