To Play... or Not To Play
Natalie Maines, lead singer of The Dixie Chicks, said at a recent London concert, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."
Since that comment, the Chicks have released a statement on their official web site. In that statement, Maines said, in part:
"I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration, and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."
Do you think KILT should continue to play Dixie Chicks songs?

YES, because just like actors and actresses...I could not care less about the opinions of musicians. We all have opinions. I watch a movie because it's entertaining, I listen to music for the same reason...the artists mean nothing without their art, so why care? Their opinions mean about as much to the world as our freeper opinions do. They are on tv, we are on the internet....big deal.

My 17 year old daughter who is a ardent Dixie Chicks fan went upstairs to her room and snapped all her Dixie Chicks albums in half after listening to and reading the reports attributed to them.....
Methinks the Dixie Chicks made a HUGE mistake making public their political views....especially on foreign soil...
The Country&Western crowd is especially patriotic and this will go down badly...

"...and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view."
Very true indeed Ms. Maines. And we are all free to choose not to listen to your voice or purchase your CDs as well once you voice your opinion, if we disagree with it. Particularly, since you chose to voice it on foreign soil. That's the problem with you people that are in the lime light. You get so comfortable in your own little zone that you forget who it was that helped you get there - YOUR FANS. And your fans can take you down just as quickly.

Maines has a right to voice her opinion as a " free American".
WE have the right as free Americans to condemn, shun, and remove her product from the airwaves.

Here in Hampton Roads (Norfolk, VA Beach, Hampton, Newport News, Chesapeake, Suffolk) they have already been banned from radio by the populace. Wonder if this area being home to the largest active duty concentration in the country had anything to do with it?

I was at a Kareoke bar last night and one of the usual singers (who is actually really good) had not heard of the Ditzy Twits comment. She started to sing one of their songs and whereas she would have normally had applause, she was booed from the start and did not understand why...
It was explained to her a short time later and the crowd requested she be given another immediate chance to sing another song as long as it wasn't one from the twits. The DJ made it so and she received resounding applause for butchering Martina McBride's "Where would You Be" which she dedicated to the twits. She left the stage blessing and thanking the US Military. I personally bought her a beer..

I predict that every concert the Chicks perform in the states will still be to a packed audience. Words and action are two different things.

If they can't stand the heat, get the heck out of the kitchen. I'm tired of the Hollywierd weenies whining when the public finally smacks them upside the head for being uninformed losers.
