I hope you don't think I want to see lots of windmills built because I'm concerned about global whining/warming. I like windmills because they are just plain cool. Electricity from wind, how nifty. Lots of electricity infact.

One thing conservatives need to realize is that having the Republicans control the White House and the Congress does not mean the world has been made safe from liberalism. There are still plenty of liberal opportunists, even some working within the GOP, searching for opportunities to turn their ideas into official policy.

International investors want bigger profits for betraying the American worker who developed the processes they wish to export. The American taxpayer then foots the bill for "retraining," unemployment, unfunded pensions, and a war machine that guarantees delivery of those imported goods upon which this nation would then be economically dependent. The process socializes the risk to their investments.

Please don't think that such a bill is DOA. Investors who wish to see such an outcome contribute to both political parties. It's fascism.

Sure, windpower is cool, especially if you're somewhere that there's always a breeze. For the rest of us... Windmills are cool, but not practical. They don't satisfy the environmental radicals anyway - they disrupt birds and aren't natural.

Or we could expect a measure like this to be promoted by a `green' administration, particularly if either Senator John Kerry (D-MA) or Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) is elected president in 2004.

Should Kerry or Lieberman be elected, hell will have frozen over achieving cloture on the global warming debate.

Note: evidence now shows the Middle Ages were much warmer, yet few knights drove SUVs.

Let those who resurrect the ghost of Kyoto be driven from the capital with methane blasts.

Some of the biggest proponents of Kyoto have a vested interest in halting U.S. economic growth. The European Union, for instance, has placed plenty of strictures on their own countries when it comes to welfare and labor policies that brake the dynamism of their economies.

Slowing down our country's more vigorous economic growth is part of their own unstated strategy to ensure their economic competitiveness in the international marketplace. Third World countries have their eyes set on enticing industry from the United States to relocate. The emissions caps on industrial countries can help them to accomplish that goal.

Thank God we have a Republican President and Republican Congress. We'd be doing pretty badly had Gore been in power.

The extreme enviro radicals that want us to all wear tie died cloths and live in hay houses represent about a few thousand people but the vast majority of people who are the least bit energy conscience love the idea of wind power. They have about a 75-90 percent acceptance where they are installed, and that is quite a few places.

But, what about the birds?

Some of the first windmills that were installed in California turned out to be sited in the worlds premium raptor habitat. They are much more careful about where they put them now. The new windmills are much bigger and on much taller towers. The towers are tublar instead of latice towers which keeps the birds away. The bird mortality, even in dense bird populations, is about 1/4 as high with the same number of megawatts of windmills.

BTW how many birds do you suppose are killed by cars and trucks and power lines and polution. Windpower favors birds in the long run because it is clean.
