WASHINGTON - Democratic lawmakers and aides said yesterday there is growing interest in tapping Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as the Senate Democratic leader if Sen. Tom Daschle retires next year.

Sources said elevating Clinton - in the Senate for only 21/2 years - would be the best way to raise the party's profile in the face of a popular president and at a time when both houses of Congress are ruled by Republicans.

But the idea of Clinton - New York's junior senator and a lightning rod for criticism - rocketing to the head of the Senate has unnerved some senators, where tradition (and men) still run things.

It has nothing to do with the fact that she's an alleged woman. It has everything to do with the fact that she's part and parcel of the most corrupt excuse for a Presidency this country has ever endured.

Worst case, the GOP gains +4 in the Senate, next year..best case, +7...and then we get Nebraska's Nelson to cross the aisle.....

In all honesty, that's not a bad picture. It's not airbrushed, and it's not gauzed out.

One can only pray that we have 60 senators sworn in with GW in 2005, and the Rats make $inator Hildebea$t their leader.

Her weekly shrill attacks on GW and what the repubies would do in Congress would drive more moderates away from her.

As you noted, "Please Make My Day you Rats! Please make $hrillery $inator Hildebea$t your minority leader!"

"Ya know" and "I mean" are truly improper English. I wonder why she never learned to removed them from her speech patterns. Maybe using these phrases keeps her connected to "the little people".

Love it. ...As long as the country is constantly reminded of the equation Clintons = Democrats, the GOP is in good shape.

Can't believe the dems would put this socialist turd into a position of power.

Why not? Nancy Pelosi is one, too, and look where she is?

What I'm wondering is, what is Chuckie Schumer going to say or do?

I remember watching Bill and Hillary in a church service on television. And, they both would bob their heads in agreement, to the minister's sermon. They appeared to be doing it in tandem. It looked scripted. And it really made me wonder if these two were actually hearing the sermon, because I find it difficult to believe that they agree completely with the Word of God.

Never stand in your enemy's way when he is busy destroying himself.

Gridlock, I am afraid you just issued a statement that could be subtitled "Wishful Thinking." Some 49 percent of the American people would vote clintion, clinton, clinton, over and over, ad nauseum, I believe we say. All she needs is that extra 1 percent, but she can win with 49 percent too. Many adore her, and we will never understand the appeal.

Fine with me. Keep the 'toons the face of the Rat party. More likely, this is just a made up story to get Hillary's name in the press....

"HILLARY COULD REPLACE DASCHLE Upon reading this headline I had visions of Daschle being invited to Hitlery's Georgetown pad for an evening of candlelit wine, music and dinner. Then later being driven to Marcy Park to be discovered the next morning by park rangers: another suicide."

When I first read it, I thought, "They talked her into moving to SOUTH DAKOTA!?" Then I came to my senses. Whew. That was a scary moment.

"She couldn't even sell her socialist health care program ten years ago..."

If this is true, how come they are slowly putting it into place--Like Johnny Cash's Cadillac--one piece at a time?

Hitlary is already running the senate. She has Dashole by the short hairs. Let's hope and pray the spineless senators wake up and smell the roses.

I realize that a question like this has never stopped the Klinton machine before, but: Can JUNIOR Senators be named Minority/Majority Leaders? I thought that was a job for the Senator with the longest tenure (Kennedy? KKK Byrd?).
