I don't wish anybody ill.

Our prisons are filled with people, black, white, hispanic, who's main "crime" is simple possession of an illegal substance to which they are addicted.

Unlike Rush, most of them have no money and so many of them do steal to support their habits. So you might think they deserve to rot in hell for that.

But many of them were not caught stealing, just possessing.

Do you think Rush should go to jail?

if you don't is it because you agree with his politics and like his show? Or do you think that a rich white Republican guy is just more deserving of sympathy and mercy than a poor black or hispanic toughies from the inner cities and barrios?

I really don't have any anger toward any of these folks -- not Rush, not the inner city junkie. So I don't want to see Rush go to jail.

But I do wonder why all this sympathy for rich, white, Republican junkie, and utter indifference to the plight of all those others caught up in our insane and inane drug laws?

I understand where you're coming from. I screwed up my knee very badly in a soccer game last year, and the doctors said I could have surgery to ease the pain right away, or tough it out for a few months to let it heal on its own. With surgery, the knee would never get back to 100%. So I lived with the pain for several months, and was going through jars of ibuprofen so I wouldn't have to go on heavy narcotics. It was no fun.

To Rush: Best wishes for your complete and speedy rehabilitation. We're all pulling for you here.

Rates of recovery for alcohol and drug addiction are small, It's a daily choice - ask anyone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol.

Actually the rates for stopping smoking aren't very good either. Perhaps they are better with the patch, but I quit in 1974 and wanted a cigarette every minute of every day for a year and a half.

The interesting thing is that the Left, by "getting" Rush, might have saved hm.

I would think that someone with Rush's drive will be able to overcome this more difficult addiction.

He did a talk show while deaf. My money says he will beat this, too.

Rush takes responsibility, claims he is not a victim, asks for prayers.

"Rehab really doesn't work. He's screwed. Once a junkie, almost always a junkie."

OOOPS. You let your hate show through.

What you say is simply not true. Prescription drug dependence is difficult to snap but any STRONG personality can do it with relative ease. And we all know Rush has a strong personality.

He will re-direct his needs in other directions.

I know, it worked for me.

Did he make a deal for rehab to avoid prosecution in Florida?

Once a junkie, almost always a junkie.

What great support you've got for Rush.

OTOH, this is going to be rough for all of us; the DUmmies and other assorted libs are going to have a field day.

I am worried about the hearing loss issue here also. One would assume the connection now right, or at least the possibility.

I just saw a blurb on MSNBC did he say he was addicted?

I think the whole publicity and the replays of Rush's announcement is generate a lot of publicity

John Kerry is going to look like a fool for his comments last night.

"more people don't seek treatment because they fear the consequences of admitting to illegal acts. "

Alcohol is legal but most alcoholics don't seek treatment either. Poor argument.

Looks like this person who posted the tip yesterday on Limbaugh coming out with his problem today was genuine. If so, that bodes well for the legal aspect, because this "friend" was adamant that there was some gross miscarriage of journalism/justice that took place.

Hateful? Nah. Just asking for a little intellectual consistency. I know its important for the viability of the Drug War that the wealthy and powerful be protected from the consequences they advocate for others. So it goes.
