Note: headline modified to fit within 100 character limit.
Original headline:"Marco Rubio, the 'Catholic' senator-elect from Florida, attends and 'donates thousands' to a hardline Protestant church "
I guess it does no harm at election time in a place like Florida to tout ones "Catholicism". Votes are what counts, right and hey..........., this is politics!!

Catholic or Protestant...so what? He still has a belief if the one true God.
More then you can say about most of Washington.
To: marshmallow
I don’t remember Rubio saying he was Catholic, just that he had faith.

he’s NOT a Catholic if he isn’t a practicing one.

Personally, I don’t think it prudent to make an issue out of this. Far better to pray....

Lord's Supper: (Rubio's church)
The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming. You are correct Catholics and Protestant differ, remembrance is for the same reason.

Votes are what counts, right and hey..........., this is politics!! Get back to me when he claims to be Christian but is in actuality Muslim.

What a great way to try and diminish a rising star. Did you see his acceptance speech?

I’m sure Florida’s voters would have voted for Crist, if only they’d known Rubio attended a Protestant church.
Flying purple freepers, can’t you see how absurd this is?

Catholic or Protestant...so what? Agreed.
But it can't be both.
Just make up your mind what you are and tell people the truth.
Would it be too hard to say "I've quit the Catholic Church and now attend a pentecostal church"?

One’s religion has shown to have very little effect on one’s political beliefs. That makes no sense but it’s true.

“So What....”
Those more interested in Protestant/Catholic split than is probably healthy for their soul cannot stand the fact that most Christians are not nearly as concerned as they are.

“Ones religion has shown to have very little effect on ones political beliefs. “
Actually, my faith has had a profound influence on my political beliefs. On what research do you base your statement that it has little effect?

What difference does it make? Most Catholics vote for baby killing Democrats anyway because they want their politicians to steal as much as possible to spread around the wealth.
I attend a very conservative church and will not even belong to a church if the pastor is a Democrat because it shows me he doesn't get the big picture BUT that said, one of the most famous members of my denomination would NEVER have gotten my vote.
To: marshmallow
Catholics believe that a lapsed Catholic is still Catholic. Sounds like an internal matter to me.
Do you regret your vote now?
Not your district? Well then okay.
To: SumProVita
My religious faith has also had a profound effect on my politics but I'm talking about the dependablity of trying to rely on what candidates say about their faith as being relative to making a decision as to whom to vote for.
What about Kennedy, Pelosi, Kerry, Harkin, and a whole host of other extremely liberal so-called "Catholics" who do not practice the Catholic beliefs at all and most do not care one way or the other.
Just keep redistributing the wealth.
