So, give me your pearls of wisdom you've gleened from lo these many years in Bible study, with all kinds of Bibles, and all kinds of knowledge you so proudly proclaim.
Yes And I also close my eyes and imagine Alex Murphy posting about the hundreds of current abuses by Protestant ministers.
Please post something, anything cause I would like to open my eyes someday soon.
Lurking’
Thanks, I didn’t realize that.
He might have escaped earthly justice, but I’m confident he’s facing proper Judgment now.
I tend to agree with you.
“Do you indeed know the Bible more than I ever will?”
That seems to be the case, yes.
“Then you will be able to tell me where God gives us specific instructions on how to study His Word.”
I know many verses which talk about His Word and its study. If I had to guess at what verse you were referring to by recalling the typical anti-Catholic penchant for ignorance, distortion, and possibly latter day, Johnny-come-lately pseudo dispensationalism, I would say 2 Timothy 2:15. But, as I said, there are many verses which talk about His Word and its study.
“Not man’s opinion, but God’s OWN WORDS.”
Again, God says many things about His Word and its study.
“You see, it’s not enough to read the Bible. It must be read and studied GOD’S WAY.”
I have no reason to believe that you know what that is - even if you believe you know verses which reveal what you believe to be “GOD’S WAY”.
“And He tells you how to do that. Unless you are doing it HIS way, you are wasting your time.”
Again, I have no reason to believe that you know what that is.
“Because you will never stand before Him approved unto Him. He said that, not me.”
Yes, but He decides if I am approved unto Him and not you.
“So, give me your pearls of wisdom you’ve gleened from lo these many years in Bible study, with all kinds of Bibles, and all kinds of knowledge you so proudly proclaim.”
No, why don’t you do that? Oh, that’s right. You can’t.
“So does Satan.”
That’s true. And here’s what I was responding to:
“Get over it. Get a Bible and read it if you want to discuss truth.”
It apparently was being assumed I did not have a Bible or had not read it. So who is being like Satan, again? Certainly not me.
Vlad, I can assure you that when a Catholic tries to claim scripture as their source they are going down a road they can not sustain. Catholics put their faith in the magesterium above that of scripture. They have to because many of their beliefs cannot be substantiated by scripture. For a Catholic appealing to scripture will lead to ultimate fail.
“Vlad, I can assure you that when a Catholic tries to claim scripture as their source they are going down a road they can not sustain.”
If any Catholic relies on the Protestant heresy of sola scriptura, sure.
“Catholics put their faith in the magesterium above that of scripture.”
No. I’m Catholic and I put my faith in Christ. Christ Himself sent the Church and the Scriptures into the world. They work together and cannot be separated.
“They have to because many of their beliefs cannot be substantiated by scripture.”
Protestants have many beliefs which are not “substantiated” by scripture - such as sola scriptura. Protestants can’t even use scripture to define what books are scriptural. As I have DEMONSTRATED here many times: Where in Matthew does it say that the Gospel of Matthew is scripture, is inspired? It doesn’t. It says it nowhere in the Bible about Matthew’s gospel. Thus, Protestants have a belief that is not “substantiated” by scripture.
“For a Catholic appealing to scripture will lead to ultimate fail.”
Actually no. It just depends on the doctrine in question - and the same goes for Protestants. Again, show me in scripture where it says Matthew’s gospel is inspired. Can you?
beautiful, sensible, logical work Vlad. You did the perfect job of showing how they impale themselves with their or petard: “Scripture - you’re dirt if you don’t follow it; but if YOU follow it, you’re destined to be dirt anyway.” Ha!
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9<<
Pleas show me where the assumption and adoration of Mary is taught by the apostles in scripture. Paul does say if anyone teaches anything other than what they taught is another gospel after all.
>>Again, show me in scripture where it says Matthews gospel is inspired. Can you?<<
Casting doubt on scripture is Satans way.
“Pleas show me where the assumption and adoration of Mary is taught by the apostles in scripture.”
We don’t adore Mary. First, show me where sola scriptura is true.
“Casting doubt on scripture is Satans way.”
Yes, hence I never do that. What I did do was ask this question: “Again, show me in scripture where it says Matthews gospel is inspired. Can you?”
Can you answer it or not? I’ll answer your question when you answer the one I asked first. Thanks in advance.
I just did. The only source of what the apostles taught is scripture. Paul said if they didnt teach it that it was to be considered another gospel. That leaves scripture alone as our source.
>> Yes, hence I never do that.<<
Sure you did. Your question about the inspiration of the gospel of Matthew is exactly what Satan does by questioning what God said. Its obvious to any Holy Spirit filled believer.
“I just did.”
Nope. Show me where sola scriptura is true in scripture. Post the verse.
“The only source of what the apostles taught is scripture.”
That’s your claim.
“Paul said if they didnt teach it that it was to be considered another gospel. That leaves scripture alone as our source.”
Except Paul told them to hold fast to the tradition he taught them. So much for sola scriptura.
“Sure you did. Your question about the inspiration of the gospel of Matthew is exactly what Satan does by questioning what God said. Its obvious to any Holy Spirit filled believer.”
False. My question is about your inability to prove something ACCORDING TO SOLA SCRIPTURA that every faithful Protestant believes - that Matthew’s gospel is inspired, written by Matthew and canonical. Instead of answering my question you post false assertions that I am questioning the inspiration of Matthew’s gospel. That’s a falsehood. Satan is the father of lies. Don’t aid him by posting falsehoods.
Thank you. I am amazed at what these Protestants post to avoid the obvious. They can’t prove sola scriptura using sola scriptura. They claim they believe only what is in the Bible, but can’t even use the Bible to show what books belong in the Bible - thus rendering sola scriptura inoperative. Amazing.
Prove from writings of the apostles that they taught what the Catholic Church teaches. You cannot do that since you are only taking the word of the RCC as to what tradition is other than what is written in scripture. Catholics are no different than Mormons, Muslims and any other religion that includes writings and beliefs of other than the apostles and Paul.
Every time you ask a question they are too afraid to answer, they admit defeat. It’s funny, but also sad how they enjoy blindness
“Every time you ask a question they are too afraid to answer, they admit defeat. Its funny, but also sad how they enjoy blindness”
I think you’re right. It’s sad really.
