How does this conclusion:
Are you admitting then that both are giving homage to their deity by praying before their statue?
follow from
The first claims that the gifts are from "Mother Earth". With the Hail Mary, what is the action the person is requesting? That Mary pray for us, not give us something, but to pray for us. This implicitly acknowledges that there exists a being greater than Mary (one prays up, not down or sideways).?

You will have to excuse me for not responding to the words in your post, my eyes glazed over when I saw that it is still the same argument with the same old mostly apostate names which seem to have you in a tizzy.

Christians, it is clear that nobody representing Catholicism can show anywhere in the scripture where Mary was assumed into heaven, not to mention neither is there any Biblical proof of Mary's perpetual virginity, sinlessness (just like Jesus!,)not having a marriage relationship with her husband after the birth of Jesus, that Mary should be prayed to, that she prays for others, etc etc.

Unfortunately Catholics are in the same position as Mormons, whom, if they renounce the rule of having more than one wife, they are thrown out of the LDS belief system.

Likewize, if Catholics deny the teachings by Catholicism about Mary, they are sent to hell. Out of the Catholic belief system, period.

So they defend the Biblical indefensible to their spiritual detriment.

The debate is over—The Bible doesn't speak of it, and the leaders, over many centuries, have been on both sides of the issue.

Psalms 119:113-115

I hate those who are double-minded, But I love Your law. You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your word. Depart from me, evildoers, That I may observe the commandments of my God.

1 Kings 18:21

Then the Lord said, "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote

14 Therefore once more I will astound these people
    with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.

God: I will astound these people

...; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’

Since EVERY time I've asked; NO catholic can illustrate ANY sins being retained; one must wonder: Why do they keep bringing it up?

I'm trying to shed some LIGHT as best I can, calling on Our Lord and Our Lady to help me.

Don't you have that backward?

You call on your lady to get Jesus' attention; right?

I did find this...

Pope Pius XII commented:

“Often there are theologians and preachers who, following in the footsteps of the holy Fathers, have been rather free in their use of events and expressions taken from Sacred Scripture to explain their belief in the Assumption.”... Yet he still based his argument on these writings, thereby conceding that there is no genuine biblical proof of the Assumption.

...and Mary was cool with all of this; I mean it was cleared through her first, right?

Where does Catholicism teach that any doctrines and dogmas need to be cleared with her first? I suppose one could argue Marian doctrines had to be, since her cooperation was requested not forced. However, the Catholic teaching on Reconciliation is not Marian.

Not a conclusion..it’s a ‘question’ if both are paying homage to an idol representative of their faith...

As has been mentioned many times, if you (or any poster) is too thinskinned for the open threads, they should not be on them.

Although I'm compassionate, no one but you (and those you claim) have called me thin-skinned; is it a cover word for what you'd like to really say? I've been referred to in my lifetime as a pioneer, honest, and too pushy, regarding my chosen faith. I'm working on that. May I ask what position/title you work under for Free Republic? A religion moderator? VP? etc.

But if you don't realize the trouble the world is in, you haven't been reading Free Republic! Will we make it through the week? :)

That being said, some of the adjectives used to describe Jesus and Our Lady, and the Catholic Church on this forum, are not good. The tall tales are ridiculous (regarding Mary and worship), and the continuance of allowing them is peculiar. (Most of the Catholics who post here state the same thing.) But if by debating strongly for the Sacraments of the Church, I can encourage anyone [of any faith] to attend adoration, or a daily Mass (even just for observance), I feel that's a good thing, as it will help propel a soul to His power, which is especially needed in these times. I do not disrespect other Christian faiths; I feel Catholicism is a more complete faith.

As far as this post, I know of no other dogma (double dogma?!) regarding the Assumption than the one declared by Pope Pius XII in 1950. And, yes, I believe in the Assumption.

P.S. About those I've commented to in a personal way as you say, I'll refrain from doing so as it's being misunderstood. I hope this is okay to maintain my membership on Free Republic. If not, then you be the judge, if that's your power.

Why does it concern you or other prots what I or any other Catholics believe?

Because the Catholic church teaches that to get to heaven you have to be Catholic.

There is no salvation outside the Catholic church. It's right in your CCC.

So, since Peter tells us in Acts 4 that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, referring to JESUS, and not CATHOLICISM, which is not mentioned in Scripture, then Catholicism is leading people astray by claiming that salvation is through it.

Oh, and anticipating the claim that the Catholic church is the one Jesus is referring to, HE never named a name of the church, and it's presumptuous for any organization to claim that He meant them. There's no proof since there's no name.
