Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

>>So why didn't you? Please do.<<

How about you deal with those in post 6,375 first.

>>Then drop the stupid "faith alone" mantra, if you don't believe it.<<

What part of unto do you not get? That saving faith is already a done deal before works of any value begin. Why is that so hard for Catholics to understand?

>>What is sneaky about it? Eph 2:4-10 says it. James 2:17-26 says it. Quite openly.<<

Then why not drop the stupid "we are not saved by works" mantra that we hear from Catholics?

>>If we don't do them, we reject the gift.<<

That's not what the Holy Spirit through Paul said.

Romans 4:5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

No "we reject the gift" there. Why do Catholics make stuff up?

>>Why is that? They did. We, Catholics, did.<<

They most certainly did. They accepted the books that say they should smear fish guts on their eyes, they should burn fish livers to scare away demons, and that having baby girls is a bad thing. That still doesn't say they have the authority to do it. They just do it anyway. They also add paganism even though God said not to. So it looks like the Catholic Church really doesn't care what God says.

This explains my lack of interest in your opinions, interpretations, and protests. You are a Protestant. I am Catholic. I speak from faith. You do not.

LOL, there you go again. How wonderfully, and beautifully Christlike. So, you are not interested in my opinions, interpretations and protests? Then I have to ask, why do respond? I think that many of us live in your head. 😄😄😃 So you speak from faith, and I don't? Now you read minds too? That's some talent you have there. You say you don't interpret scripture? Let me think about for a second. OK, I thought about it. Yes you do, and you admitted that you need a priest to interpret scripture, but you try to tell what it means. This is not consistent, and in order to be taken seriously, you must be consistent. You can give me Bible verses, and that is fine, but do not add one single solitary word of commentary, because that is interpretation, and you admitted you are not allowed to do that. Hope to see you at the pearly gates. Have a blessed day sir. I guarantee you I will. 😄

It's really sad that Catholics don't seem to understand ALL of scripture.

CB, ALL scripture you say? 😄😃😃

"So it looks like the Catholic Church really doesn't care what God says. "

If the Catholic Church disregarded God, they would not have been around for 2,000+ years and still going strong.

Of course they are still around even though they ignore what God said. So are other pagans who started back in Babylon. The oldest religions that are still widely practiced are Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Jainism. Then there is pantheism, Zoroastrianism, and Confucianism. If it's the oldest religion that you believe is right you should convert to one of any of those.

It's interesting to note that your MAGIsterium has it's origins in Zoroastrianism. So maybe unbeknownst to you Catholicism is simply part of Zoroastrianism which would make it one of the oldest. It's probably why the Catholic Church removed the name of Clement of Alexandria who curses the magi for their “impious” rites and rituals from it’s list of Roman Martyrology?

Well, I haven't seen one verse yet that they don't twist in one way or another to fit what they believe.

LOL, CynicalB, you are so cynical. 😄 Isn't there at least one verse they haven't twisted? Just one tiny little verse in the entire Bible? I don't know, maybe not. 😄

Really??? How long's Buddha been hanging around??? Why has God let Izlamania exist for 1300 years???

The earth is the domain of Satan...Your religions are here to persecute the real church...

Obviously they have been doing some good and will be converted in the fullness of time.

You don't get that from reading the words of God...That's not even a bible phrase...

Catholics are descendents of the Jewish religion which you did not mention.

I don't know why, other than they've been brainwashed to think so, that they keep playing the "we/ve been here thousands of years card"....as if catholicism is the only one that's survived. It's not a matter of years on the stage.....it's a matter of truth...which escaped them long ago and therefore there could be no end other than what we see they've become today. And it certainly isn't Christian....it's just decorated with Christian trimmings...the real story is underneath that picture they draw... and it's anything but Christian.

The Vatican revealed in May 2014 that over the past 10 years...it has defrocked 848 priests who raped or molested children and sanctioned another 2,572 with lesser penalties, and how it's handled the more than 3,400 cases of abuse reported to the Holy See since 2004....The figures only cover cases handled directly by the Holy See, not those handled by local diocesan tribunals, meaning the total number of sanctioned priests is likely far higher........Only in 2010 did the Vatican tell bishops and superiors to report credible cases 'to police' where local reporting laws require them to....the Vatican began also in 2010 resorting more and more to the lesser penalty of sentencing accused priests to a lifetime of penance and prayer rather than defrocking them!....and so it goes!

......"If the Catholic Church disregarded God, they would not have been around for 2,000+ years and still going strong".....

That's a worthless argument...

The Bible itself tells when Jesus says... "I am the way, the Truth and the life, nobody comes to the Father accept thru the Son"... so... if "they" are seeking God thru any other way...(Mary, Saints, Rituals, Icons, Priests, Pope's , dead corpses and body parts, what ever) "they" are not practicing Christianity but something else. Tacking on Christ;s name does not make it acceptable nor Christian. Jesus again teaches that He is the only "intersession"...which takes you back to square one #1.... ..."who are "they" following"... Scripture or the teaching of the church of it's leadership? Like all false religions catholicism follows their pattern...
