The council of Jerusalem instructed Christians to abstain from the flesh and blood of ANIMALS that had been sacrificed.

My post was about the blood of JESUS.

Can’t you tell the difference between JESUS and an ANIMAL?

So you were just being picky rather than address substance?

That is NOT the meaning of anamnesis.

“Anamnesis” has to do with GOD’s recalling, which is an infinitely more substantial reality than the function of the human brain we call “memory.”

“Anamnesis” involves GOD’s “remembering” the Passover, or the Exodus, or the Covenant, or the death of Jesus. It does NOT refer to mere human remembering.

But the Catholics do and they even worship that cracker.

and they don't even have any Cheez-Whiz. How can that be right?

You are begging the question.

Worshiping the Eucharist is idolatry if it is a fraud.

If it is not a fraud, then worshiping it is pleasing to God.

The fact that it is worshiped is not proof that it is a fraud.

I hope you are aware that the New Covenant differs from the Old Covenant.

Can’t you tell the difference between JESUS and an ANIMAL?

When an animal was sacrificed, its life, symbolized by the blood, belonged to God.

When Jesus sacrificed himself, he gave his life as a gift to US. Jesus commanded us to drink his blood precisely as a sign that he gave his life for us.

Acts 15 makes no distinction.  Blood is simply mentioned as one item in a list of items to be avoided.  There is no clue given whether this is animal blood or human.  If this were a statute and I had a client asking how to stay on the safe side of it, I would advise him/her to avoid consuming both.

Peace,

When Jesus said, 'do this', all that Jesus did was break bread and pass the bread and wine out...Jesus then said eat it...And then said, 'do this in remembrance of me'...

You have just distorted the very words and deeds of Jesus. I notice you have edited out the words of Jesus that you reject.

I see; if you don't like something Jesus said, you delete it.

He said, "Take and eat. THIS IS MY BODY. Take and drink. THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD IN THE NEW COVENANT. Do this in remembrance of me."

Hmmm. That's a very "Christian," "Scriptural" mode of argumentation: Deleting the words of Jesus that you don't like.

I don't worship an "it."  I worship Him.

It is the Center of or Faith and worship.

It is obsessive.

The Jews only had that meal once a year.

Saying something in a big font does not make it true, does not prove your position, and does not speak well of you in a civilized discussion.

Why not?

Indeed it does - That cracker is an idol. The very definition of idolatry.

Making up stuff Jesus DIDN'T SAY is an odd form of argument for someone who claims to take Scripture seriously.

Gotcha!

Did EVERYTHING Jesus ever said get WRITTEN DOWN???

Well; that’s ONE way to try to slip thru the facts.

Absolute nonsense. Where were people getting all this human blood that, according to you, they were drinking and the Council was talking about?

The reference is to the blood of animals that had been sacrificed—as mentioned in the SENTENCE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE.

Your comments crudely reflect the hatred of Catholicism and contempt for its leader.

The old fall back: HATE?

Sigh...

Calling out a person's HATE works about as well as calling them RACIST these days.

We won't waste our time defending the charge.

Your fellow Catholics seem to have this field pretty much to themselves!

Cute.

He didn’t just make up something like, “It’s going to rain next Tuesday.”

He altered the words of Jesus. He changed them to something more to his liking.
