if you will post a clear verse showing to use only the bible only, lets see your clear verse that supports the bible alone, or youve got nothing.

The Word records...."it is written" is used 76 times in the Bible. 16 are in the OT and 60 are in the NT. Paul uses this phrase more than all the other writers of the NT employing it 16x.

The word "written" is used 251x in the Bible with 133x in the OT and 118x in the NT. Paul uses it the most in the NT with 20 in Romans, 17 in 1&2 Corinthians, 4 in Galatians, 1 in 1 Thessalonians and 2x in Hebrews.

We see Jesus and the disciples appeal to the Word when He was tempted by Satan.

Paul and Peter quoted the Word.

The disciples quoted the Word.

Mary quoted the Word.

John recorded,"these things are written so you may believe".

Luke researched and wrote two accounts of Jesus and his (Luke's)travels with Paul so we would have a record.

God gave Moses the written Law.

The Old Testament was in place at the time of Christ. That was the "Bible" at the time. It was the written Word.

(interesting, since there was no ‘bible’ till the catholic church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, put the OT and NT together,at the council of nicea....

There was no roman catholic church as constituted today. For we don't see a pope, the worship of Mary, praying to saints in Heaven, indulgences, the immaculate conception, etc, etc, etc. So no, the RCC didn't give us the Bible.

I always find it so funny that the very group who has claimed to "give" us the Bible is the first group to so readily dismiss the authority of the Word.

and please, dont play that game with me....the pic is perfectly legit, since all those denominations, claim as you do, that they use just the word of God....i.e. bible alone.....

Yes, please. Don't play this game. When Roman Catholicism can say that each and every message, every Sunday School lesson(?), every article written by Msgr Pope, every Bible study, etc, has been cleared through the Vatican, then you can talk. Just the responses on this board disprove any claim to the so called unity of Roman Catholicism.

You wanna keep playing?

I reiterate: Mohammedanism isn’t a religion. It’s a violent, murderous, totalitarian political ideology of satanic origin. It masquerades as a religion; some people even fall for that pretense.

Good idea, that cannot be stressed enough times.

Christians worship the God of the Bible, Islam et al worship a false god.

Catholicism decided a while ago that they worship that same god as the muslims/mohammedans/islamists. A god that has no son.

>>The Word tells us the false prophets will come from within. Fatima is one of those false prophets. <<

If I understand you correctly, you are calling the mother of God a false prophet? You believe that the woman who bore Jesus Christ is a deceiver? Luke 1:48

Have you read the full statements of what this "vision" said?

I am saying that whatever this "vision" was is a false prophet based on a comparison of what Jesus Christ has said.

Part of what the "vision" told the children: "God asks each one of us to stop offending Him. We must pray, especially the Rosary. By this frequent prayer of the Rosary, we will get the graces we need to overcome sin. God wants us to have devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to work to spread this devotion throughout the world. Our Lady said, 'My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.' If we wish to go to God, we have a sure way to Him through true devotion to the Immaculate Heart of His Mother.

Now contrast with the words of the Son of Mary.

I am the way, the truth, the life..no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6 NASB)

From the Greek perspective, Jesus is saying that He is the only way to get to the Father. You cannot come to Him through any other person.

This would include this "vision".

John makes extensive use of the emphatic pronoun structure in his Gospel.

His Gospel, along with the rest of the Word, makes it clear that it is only through Jesus, that is through belief in Jesus, that we can gain eternal life.

The Greek rules out any other agency or person.

Any person.

The Greek, behind John 14:6 and other passages in John and the Word itself, removes any other agency through which people can gain the Father.

In essence when this is used in the Greek it is the writers way of contrasting on person with another.

That would include this apparition.

Roman Catholics would do well to seriously evaluate the statements of the "vision" at Fatima and compare them with the Words of Jesus.

The pictures of the dancing sun were in the local newspaper. It is factual.

Recall that Satan can turn himself into an angel of light. Revelation also records He is able to perform signs as well.

Recall also that Satan knows the Word, probably better than all of us, and He will selectively quote it as we saw in the temptation of Jesus. He will also ever so slightly twist the Word as we saw in the Garden.

Pharaoh's magicians could perform some tricks as well.

Did something happen at Fatima? Let's concede for the moment that it did.

The task remains to evaluate the message of the "vision" against the Word to see if it stands up.

An honest comparison of the two will reveal that whatever the "vision" said at Fatima does not stand up when compared to the light of the Word.

Example:

Statement by the "vision":

"In order to move ever closer to Her, and therefore to Her Son, Our Lady stressed the importance of praying at least five decades of the Rosary daily. She asked us to wear the Brown Scapular (emphasis mine).

http://www.gotquestions.org/lady-fatima.html

What is the Brown Scapular for those who may be casually following this discussion?

From https://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/brown_scapular.htm

Those who wear it practice it a special devotion to Mary. In the past this was the Little Office of Our Lady, but today this can be commuted by any priest to the rosary. In addition, the person has a special entrustment of themselves to Mary for their salvation. This, in fact, has been promised to those who faithfully wear the scapular: "Those who die wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire."

Pay close attention....the ones who are wearing this are trusting in Mary for their salvation.

But this is not the Mary of the Bible for she never, ever said anything of the sort for she recognized that her Son, the Only Son of God was her savior.

Luke 1:46-47 (NASB) And Mary said, "My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior."

Notice also, they are promised if they die while wearing this, they will not go to Hell.

Salvation, let me ask you a direct question for which I would appreciate an answer.

Honestly, is this supported anywhere in the Word of God?

No.

It is in direct contrast to the Word.

Paul writes in Romans 5:8-9 (NASB)

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

It is through Christ and Christ alone that we have salvation.

NO ONE ELSE.

The Word of God is clear on this.

Whatever happened/appeared at Fatima is a false prophet.

again, not one of those quotes, says the word alone, or the word ‘bible’, or to use a bible alone, outside the teaching church.

nice try.

yeah, let’s keep playing, you dig into your little anti catholic “im holier than thou” protestant playbook, and i will continue to use logic, history and and God’s own teaching church, Sacred Tradition, and the Word, as history has shown repeatedly, to be the truth.

Remember, without reinterpreting, please tell us all what the bible says it the pillar and foundation of all truth....

go ahead, will wait till you set up your hermeneutical somersaults to explain that away.

Yes, lets examine the passage your alluding to.

14I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long; 15but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.(1 Timothy 3:14-15)

Timothy is giving the written Word.

While we're in Timothy.....

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Tim 3:16-17 NASB)

Suggest you read post 45. That explains why we rely upon the Word and the Word alone.

When you examine the reliance upon the written Word of Jesus, the disciples, Paul, etc we see the importance of the written Word.

There are 13 uses of the word tradition in the Word. Are you familiar with them? If not, perhaps a word study would benefit you.

If we don't have the written Word to compare "revelations" and "new teachings", such as Fatima, we will not know what is or is not the truth.

Bring it on, Old Yeller!!! We Catholics have a strong continence, and can refute anything you might say....especially if it’s anti-Mary!! Do so at your own soul’s peril.....as even the Muslims know that Mary is SUPER SPECIAL!!

If I thought for a minute that muslims agreed with anything I believe, I'd really take a good hard second look at it, especially if there's no Scriptural support for the doctrine, like virtually all the Marian stuff.

It’s not worth arguing over because the truth is they don’t really care what the Word says. If they did they would see the cross as sufficient and they wouldn’t be papists in the first place. They don’t judge their traditions by the Word, they judge the Word by their traditions. They don’t look to the Word for understanding events such as Fatima, they look to “church teaching.”

That's it in a nutshell and it bears repeating.

The Mary of Scripture, the mother of JESUS, is not a false prophet.

The apparition that calls itself the Mary, mother of God, and tries to lead people to God through another means than Christ, IS a false prophet.

Peter, the guy who y'all claim is your first pope says this....

Acts 4:11-12 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Any spirit which claims that salvation can come through something besides Jesus, like praying and the rosary, and Mary, is a lying spirit, a false prophet, and should be recognized as such.

It wasn't the Mary of Scripture that appeared at Fatima.

The events may have really happened, but that does NOT mean they were from God.

Satan is the prince of the power of the air and has the power to do lying wonders and signs.

The pillar and foundation is not the thing.

The church is the pillar and foundation, but it upholds the truth, which is Jesus and the word of God, Scripture.

That verse in no way says that Catholicism IS the truth.

Whatever happened/appeared at Fatima is a false prophet.

Do you suppose the one who claimed to be the angel Moroni, who allegedly appeared to Joe Smith, was actually Satan?

It would seem to be in line with what are known of his capabilities....so yes.

Hence the need to square every prophet away with the Word as John tells us to.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.(1 John 4:1 NASB)

And what do we test them by per John?

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.(1 John 4:2-3 NASB)

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11 NASB)

There's another example of relying upon the Word for truth.

In this passage the Bereans were comparing what Paul and Silas were preaching to them to see if it squared away with the Word.

Notice no appeal to "logic, history or Sacred Tradition".

Jesus warns that false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive by He also was stern when he said... “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.” ............Matt 24
What is amazing is he said....”See, I have told you ahead of time.”.....so that we would recognize these images and deceptive visions etc...

.....and these are intended to prepare people ahead of time to accept and be conditioned to accept ‘signs and wonders’ as the standard for the eventual coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works.... He will use all sorts of displays of power ‘through signs and wonders’ that serve the lie.....just as is seen in much of the world today.

So it could be said that if they believe these signs Fatima lingo now, how much easier will it be for them to believe the real deceiver when he comes as the anti-Christ....piece of cake.

Jesus said ..Blessed are those who believe without seeing.....so take him at his word and prefer to rest my faith ‘on the person of Jesus Christ’ and not some mumbo jumbo of which all religions use today to deceive “the many”.

...."The apparition that calls itself the Mary, mother of God, and tries to lead people to God through another means than Christ, IS a false prophet"....

I'll go one step further and say the Fatima sightings were demonic for it comes from the Spirit World, if indeed the "story " is true, or the very vivid imaginations of children consistently fed Mario-logy at tender ages.....

Interesting is many of these "sightings" first Light" is seen......forgetting that even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. .... so it is not surprising if his servants also 'disguise themselves' as servants of righteousness.

Boo!

Yes, we must be VERY discerning. It would appear to me, that there is a subtle, world wide conditioning program going on right now. The purpose, as you say, is to get people ready for the coming of the beast. I just wonder, however, since Satan does not know when the second coming of Christ will be, has Satan been preparing "anti Christs" for a long time? I am sure there are countless millions, who would be willing to do his bidding.
