Instead of equating their bizarre concepts of what a Monotheistic Creator is and requires with what Judeo/Christian beliefs are. While they in the belief that they are following God’s command are ruthlessly murdering and torturing non believers and destroying their edifices.

There are exceptions, but The Bible is often quite critical of its characters, time after time revealing the forgiving nature of God, and even praising those outside its tenets (Deut 4:19 & Mal 1:11).

The quran, OTH, is damning of anyone not accepting of islam. No compromises. No forgiveness.

  A facinating [original link now dead]article in the WSJ about an archive of Quranic research that was thought lost for a long time, but has now been found, that shows that there were a lot of German nazis who'd been experts on Islam.

  On the night of April 24, 1944, British air force bombers hammered a former Jesuit college here housing the Bavarian Academy of Science. The 16th-century building crumpled in the inferno. Among the treasures lost, later lamented Anton Spitaler, an Arabic scholar at the academy, was a unique photo archive of ancient manuscripts of the Quran.

  The 450 rolls of film had been assembled before the war for a bold venture: a study of the evolution of the Quran, the text Muslims view as the verbatim transcript of God's word. The wartime destruction made the project "outright impossible," Mr. Spitaler wrote in the 1970s.

  Mr. Spitaler was lying. The cache of photos survived, and he was sitting on it all along. The truth is only now dribbling out to scholars -- and a Quran research project buried for more than 60 years has risen from the grave.

  "He pretended it disappeared. He wanted to be rid of it," says Angelika Neuwirth, a former pupil and protégée of the late Mr. Spitaler. Academics who worked with Mr. Spitaler, a powerful figure in postwar German scholarship who died in 2003, have been left guessing why he squirreled away the unusual trove for so long.

  Ms. Neuwirth, a professor of Arabic studies at Berlin's Free University, now is overseeing a revival of the research. The project renews a grand tradition of German Quranic scholarship that was interrupted by the Third Reich. The Nazis purged Jewish experts on ancient Arabic texts and compelled Aryan colleagues to serve the war effort. Middle East scholars worked as intelligence officers, interrogators and linguists. Mr. Spitaler himself served, apparently as a translator, in the German-Arab Infantry Battalion 845, a unit of Arab volunteers to the Nazi cause, according to wartime records.

  The Munich archive began with one of Mr. Nöldeke's protégés, Gotthelf Bergsträsser. As Germany slid towards fascism early last century, he hunted down old copies of the Quran in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. He took photographs of them with a Leica camera.

  In 1933, a few months after Hitler became chancellor, Mr. Bergsträsser, an experienced climber, died in the Bavarian Alps. His body was never given an autopsy; rumors spread of suicide or foul play.

  His work was taken up by Otto Pretzl, another German Arabist. He too set off with a Leica. In a 1934 journey to Morocco, he wangled his way into a royal library containing an old copy of the Quran and won over initially suspicious clerics, he said in a handwritten report about his trip.

  The Nazis began to use Arabists early in the war when German forces began pushing into regions with large Muslim populations, first North Africa and then the Soviet Union. Scholars were used to broadcast propaganda and to help set up mullah schools for Muslims recruited into the German armed forces.

  Mr. Pretzl, the manuscript collector, appears to have worked largely in military intelligence. He interrogated Arabic-speaking soldiers captured in the invasion of France, then, according to some accounts, set off on a mission to stir up an Arab uprising against British troops in Iraq. His plane crashed.

  So now, we have some very intriguing evidence of connections between Nazism and Islam. Read the whole thing in full.

  Here is the scene. An instructor gives orders to his civilian listeners. He tells them:

• You are the best of people, by divine right.
• All others are filthy, unclean, lower than animals.
• They are enemies.
• You must hate enemies.
• You cannot be allies with enemies.
• You must instil fear and terror in enemies.
• You must kill enemies.
• You are soldiers in a righteous army.

  What do you call this process? Could it be a

  “process by which a person comes to support terrorism and forms of extremism leading to terrorism”?

  It could. That is the UK Government’s definition of “radicalisation”.

  Radicalisation can thus be encouraged and achieved by an instructor. The instructor could be in a room, on the internet, or even be a book.

  Consider now these instructions:

• You are the best of peoples raised up for mankind.
• Non-members are unclean, the vilest of beasts, apes and pigs.
• Non-members are the enemy.
• Non-members must be hated.
• Do not take non-members as allies.
• Kill the enemy wherever you find them.
• Capture them and besiege them, lie in wait for them in ambush.
• Strike terror into their hearts.
• Strike at their necks, and strike off their fingertips.
• Fight them and kill them until our instructions prevail over all others.
• No-one may change these instructions.
• These instructions are valid for all time.
• No choice is available: obedience is required.
• One who denies any instruction has to be killed.
• Anyone is entitled to perform the killing:
• There is no penalty, because it is killing someone who deserves to die.

  These instructions are, indeed, inescapable: there is no leeway. Where are they from?

  These are the instructions given in mosques. All are from the Koran and the Manual of Islamic Law.

  Teachers of Islam are not permitted to teach differently.

  What is the conclusion?

• The Koran instructs “radicalisation”.
• The Koran is the root (Latin radix) of this process.
• The Koran commands killing.
• Islam — ordinary basic orthodox Islam — violates UK criminal law.

  In English law, and Scottish law, incitement to violence is a criminal offence.

  Instructing listeners to kill or attack others is a criminal offence.

  Planning a place where such instructions are given is conspiring to abet crime.

  Planning Committees who authorise such premises are being party to crime.

The Quran is a book that tells us of the life and mission of Muhammad, the prophet.

Actually the Rev is wrong on a number of points:

The koran is just the words of allah and his messengers to Mohammad; The life and times of Mohammad are in the other 4 mussulman holy books - the Hadiths and Sunnahs chronicle the life and sayings of Mo: Talibari, Muslim, Isaq and Bukhari. Hadiths are Mohammed’s word to his followers. The Sunnahs are the history of Muhammad and his motto (sic) was “Kill, kill, kill”.

Perhaps the Rev needs to actually read what is in the koran and the other four books to understand exactly what Mohammad was saying the koranic suras really mean as all practicing mussulman do. Had he done so, he would have learned that the First Given Half of the koran is largely plagiarized from the Bible and the Torah.

Further the Second Given Half is the last words of allah and as such it is Islam - Mohammad specifically voided the first given half for that reason - also because while the First Half was operative Mohammad had only about 150 followers.

With the Second Half urging the deaths of all who aren’t them (especially Jews), Islam took off, murdering its way across North Africa (turning the former Bread Basket of the Ancient World into semi-arid desert), then moving on to the ME and into India, up to Europe where it introduced slavery, destroying Classical Christianity and most of the Classical works of Rome and Greece.

Until Christians across the world and the Catholic Pope (as well as the politicians that run the countries that are not already lost), wake up to the truth of Islam that it is not some later-date form of Christianity, the whole of Western Civilization teeters on the brink of extinction (and if the mullahs that run Iran have their way all of humanity will become extinct).

It’s very interesting that no Muslim can discuss Islam without criticizing Christianity..but the reason for this is found in the Koran.... The Koran is vicious about all other religions..... Due to ‘its dualism’, it has a good word in the beginning about the Jews and Christians, but in the end, the dualism prevails and the Koran”s second view is brutal...... It demands that it, and it alone, determines the truth of all other religions. But the Koran does not stop with religious criticism, but it always includes political persecution of other religions.

The Koran also dictates that all other religions must politically submit in this world. Islam is not just about religion, but ‘politics’.........The Koran is a political text that contains only negative, pejorative, hurtful, insulting words for the non-muslim.

This is clearly evidenced when Mohammed attacked the Jews of Khaybar ... he first called them to Islam. When they rejected this call they were attacked, crushed and made dhimmis...... It was in this vein that bin Laden called America to Islam before he attacked on September 11, 2001 .

So the call to Islam can be from care and concern or it can be a prelude to death by jihad. Such is the dualistic nature of political Islam and the Koran.
