Illinois Gov. To Sign Bill Into Law Allowing Driver’s Licenses For Undocumented Immigrants by Nadine Natour 01/27/2013 Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will sign a bill into law today that grants hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants the right to drive. The new law makes Illinois the fourth state to allow driver’s licenses or permits for undocumented immigrants and comes ahead of President Obama’s expected announcement on a plan for comprehensive immigration reform expected on Tuesday. Quinn and the bipartisan supporters of the legislation say the measure will improve traffic safety in the state. “This new law will ensure every motorist...

I’m accustomed to being the odd man out when it comes to political opinions, and I’ve become accustomed to taking some flak on that basis. I’ve read a number of very good articles offering the reasons why Sarah Palin should run for President, and given her departure from Fox News, there are many who are already speculating about a 2016 Palin run for high office. Various writers have mentioned her blue-collar appeal, her record of fighting corruption, and her ability to stand apart from her party when doing that which is right had demanded it. As a campaigner, she’s an...

As the war on gun ownership widens, two more sheriffs have said that they will not enforce any law, or executive order that they deem unconstitutional. It was reported by Infowars yesterday, Jan. 25, 2013 that Arizona’s Pinal County Sheriff, Paul Babeu who was recently re-elected to that office by his constituents told the president that he will not obey any law created by a presidential “executive order.” He did this in a letter to the president, in which he told President Obama that, “The most important office in our republic is that of a private citizen. You are not...

Forty years ago, John Kerry, currently a Democratic senator from Massachusetts and President Obama's nominee to take over as Secretary of State, denounced US bombing of Cambodia. More recently, he has excused President Obama's bombing of Libya. “How are these two instances different?” Senator Rand Paul (R-Ken) asked at Kerry's confirmation hearing. “Weren't both acts of war taken without Congressional authority? Doesn't the Constitution vest the war-making power in Congress?” “The issue is a complex one with many nuances,” Kerry replied. “In an effort to simplify it for you, let me point out that the bombing of Cambodia took place...

This week, the administration that rode to a second term decrying a fictitious war on women by the opposition, opened real fronts on the war on women, perpetuating feminism's worst inconsistencies through its contradictory programs and in the words and deeds of the avatar of these inconsistencies, Hillary Clinton, the "Athena" of low information women voters. Only CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson by her persistence and competence keeps me from burying my head in shame. As the Weekly Standard's Daniel Halper noticed, there was a serious disconnect this week in the administration's approach to women. On the one hand, the president's...

IT'S OFFICIAL: The World's Elites Declares The Global Economic Crisis To Be Over Joe WeisenthalJanuary 27, 2013We've been saying for awhile that the age of crisis was coming to an end, but the world's elites have finally made it official. The economic crisis is over. From Peter Coy and BusinessWeek: The hive mind of Davos has concluded that the financial crisis is done, finished. The new worry: a bubble in the credit markets. There is no official declaration, or even a formal survey. But the chatter at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, is about the end of the...

I was viewing some of my neighbors' wi-fi connections on my tablet computer and noticed that most are using the outdated WEP network security standard. This was deemed to be insecure a decade ago and was replaced by the WPA and, later, the WPA2 security standard. Someone in "listening range" of a wi-fi hotspot using the WEP encryption standard could, potentially, break into the network relatively easily and disrupt it. Many internet service providers (ISP) still provide WEP as the default, but they are now required to also provide WPA. So it is a good idea to insure that your...

A court order filed yesterday and obtained by Gun Rights Examiner in the case of U.S. vs. Reese has denied a motion by the prosecution to seal a hearing from the public. Defendants Rick and Terri Reese and son Ryin, New Mexico gun dealers jailed for allegedly knowingly selling guns to cartel members, and who have since had conspiracy and money laundering charges against them dismissed, have filed a motion for a new trial after being convicted of, as Jeff Knox of the Firearms Coalition described it, “the comparatively minor charge of lying on gun sales forms -- even though...

By Abby Phillip Jan 27, 2013 Senate Immigration Proposal To Include Pathway To Citizenship Two senators at the center of negotiations over comprehensive immigration reform, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) said on Sunday that a pathway to citizenship is an essential component of a comprehensive reform bill. “That has to be also part of it,” McCain told ABC News’ Martha Raddatz on “This Week” when asked whether a pathway to citizenship would be a component of reform. “There’s a new appreciation on both sides of the aisle including, maybe more importantly on the Republican side of...

Thousands of demonstrators rallied Saturday in Washington to demand tougher gun control laws, many describing themselves as first-time capital marchers who've had enough of gun violence. On a cold day, a vanguard led a blocks-long procession with a big blue banner, declaring "March on Washington for Gun Control: When we stand together, we stand a chance."

A Philadelphia gun show is on for this weekend, even as a Harrisburg show is postponed after exhibitors balked at a ban on assault weapons. Unlike the Harrisburg show (see related story), the Philadelphia show — Saturday and Sunday at the National Guard Armory — includes semi-automatic weapons. "Those weapons are available here,” says Dave Zeller, a spokesman for Appalachian Promotions, which produces the show. “The dealers that we have are licensed both by the federal government and the State of Pennsylvania.”

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin (D) on Sunday revealed key details about a bipartisan immigration-reform plan, saying the legislation would be comprehensive and would include a pathway to citizenship. Durbin said the group of six senators was working on a comprehensive approach to the issue, as opposed to moving individual elements piecemeal and was optimistic they were close to their goal. “Sitting in these meetings with three Democrats and three Republicans, working on this immigration issue has been as encouraging as the rules vote on Thursday night,” Durbin said on “Fox News Sunday”, referencing a bipartisan agreement in the Senate last...

I was interviewed by Fox News correspondent James Rosen last week on the impact of rising interest rates on the consumers. Apparently, recent increases in Treasury yields is getting attention from the media. In a flash, I thought back to 1994 when Clinton was President. The US had just come out of a recession and The Fed had been lowering the Fed Funds rate rapidly to spur economic growth. The Effective Fed Funds rate hit bottom in December 2003 as the Real GDP growth rate had hit 5.28% (annualized) in Q4 of 2003. Fearing an overheating economy, The Fed put...

Testimony For Monday’s Hearing Now Online Posted on January 26, 2013 by Chris Some of testimony already submitted for Monday’s Task Force Hearing on gun violence is now online. You may read it here. There are only about 170 there so far, and it’s a mix of pro and anti gun control. Unless every other gun owner in the state plans on attending the hearing Monday in person, there should be several hundred thousand more in support of our rights then I see there, Again I remind you to “Stand Up! Step Up! Speak Up, Dammit!â€.This might be the only chance you get...

President Barack Obama says he has not only fired a gun, but has done it regularly. "In fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," the president told The New Republic. "Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. "And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations.. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake."

The Geneva Convention’s classification of military chaplains as noncombatants has traditionally been interpreted in the United States to mean that chaplains normally do not carry weapons. This often puts them in precarious positions when they are in war zones. Over four hundred chaplains have been killed in the line of duty. Catholic chaplains are especially exposed to dangerous situations by their obligation to administer Absolution and Anointing. They have received every kind of decoration for valor, and seven have been awarded the Medal of Honor. All four chaplains awarded the Medal since the Civil War have been Catholic. Among them,...
