  • Jerusalem expects Obama will bring new peace plan, demand breakthrough

Officials in Jerusalem believe that U.S. President Barack Obama, who has announced he will visit Israel in mid-March, will arrive with a new peace plan and the demand for a breakthrough in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Obama's itinerary, which includes stops in Ramallah and Amman, suggests that his administration may be preparing a new peace bid. Word of the coming trip followed calls by incoming U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday stressing the U.S. commitment to peacemaking. President Obama's associates have said in recent days that he plans to play a...

Wednesday I traveled to Annapolis to testify in opposition to SB 281, the painfully misnamed “Firearms Safety Act of 2013.” .. Media outlets counted “hundreds” but there were probably at least 5,000. According to the office of Senate Judiciary Proceedings Committee Chairman Brian Frosh, 2,444 people originally signed up to testify. Another 200 or so signed handwritten sheets to voice their opinions. Within the Miller Senate Office Building, the hearing room and two overflow rooms were closed as they reached their rated capacity. The hallways were jammed with people. Thousands of people milled about the State House courtyard outside. I...

by John HillStand With ArizonaHe’s known as “America’s Toughest Sheriff”. But Joe Arpaio continues to show he deserves the moniker of “America’s JOBS Sheriff”. Because every time Sheriff Joe conducts a raid, he frees up jobs for legal American workers. And at a time when raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are almost unheard of - Barack Obama has slashed workplace enforcement by a staggering 70% since 2009 - Sheriff Joe and his department keep on working to crack down on illegal aliens in the workplace. Today was no exception, as Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies raided Sportex Apparel in Tempe, AZ,  a custom-made...

Unbelievable. The king of exploiting death for cheap laughs and political points is urging Americans not to joke about alleged murderer Chris Dorner’s bizarre manifesto. That’s pretty rich coming from a man who joked that he was “gleeful” about the Newtown massacre and boasted about standing on dead children’s graves. He continues:

Ice Age Lion Man is world’s earliest figurative sculpture • Work carved from mammoth ivory has been redated and 1,000 new fragments discovered—but it won’t make it to British Museum show The star exhibit initially promised for the British Museum’s “Ice Age Art” show will not be coming—but for a good reason. New pieces of Ulm’s Lion Man sculpture have been discovered and it has been found to be much older than originally thought, at around 40,000 years. This makes it the world’s earliest figurative sculpture. At the London exhibition, which opens on 7 February, a replica from the Ulm...

The manhunt is still on for Christopher Dorner, the former LAPD officer suspected of murdering a cop and a civilian couple. In his manifesto, Dorner gushed with praise for Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained,” the film that some viewers said “reignited my desire to kill white people.” “Django” actor Jaime Foxx told the “Saturday Night Live” audience how excited he was that his character got to “kill all the white people.” Dorner’s manifesto also suggests racism as one of his motives, inspiring some Twitter users to declare him a “modern day Django.” Neither of the civilians he is suspected of killing...

This might be a job for #PolitiFactThis. It’s “mostly true” that you haven’t been hearing about the wave of support for accused cop-killer Christopher Dorner — you’ve been reading about it here on Twitchy since early yesterday afternoon. We’re more horrified than intrigued, though, that anyone would consider someone suspected of killing three people a “Django”-like hero. Then again, Dorner didn’t praise our work in his lengthy manifesto, as he did CNN. His love of Left-leaning media seems to have spurred a mutual admiration society.

LOS ANGELES — While the general response to Christopher Dorner — a former Navy reservist who was fired from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2008, and is now suspected of killing three people and wounding two others as part of a vengeance-fueled killing spree, has ranged from shock to terror, some on the Internet are expressing support. As the manhunt continued as far north as the San Bernardino Mountains, late Thursday, Interscope Records rapper Ab-Soul posted a photo defending the fugitive on his Instagram page, quoting Dorner’s 11,400-word manifesto, in which he outlines plans to kill law enforcement officers...

Venezuela Devalues Its Currency Matthew BoeslerFebruary 8, 2013, 3:43 PMVenezuela just undertook a massive currency devaluation, re-pegging the bolivar to a value of 6.3 per U.S. dollar from its previous official exchange rate of 4.3 bolivars per dollar. The government also announced that it would shutter the Venezuelan currency exchange system known as SITME. Given the currency devaluation underway in other economies around the world right now – perhaps most notably in Japan – a few are calling this Venezuela's foray into the global "currency war" between countries trying to devalue their currencies in order to increase export competitiveness. However,...

Three years ago, midway through his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama took on the Supreme Court of the United States of America. “With all due deference to the separation of powers,” the president said, “last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests—including foreign corporations—to spend without limit in our elections. Calif. mayor charged for drunken fit over milkshake, report says (CBS) ATWATER, Calif. - Craig Mooneyham, who was filling in as mayor of Atwater, Calif., is accused of throwing a drunken fit over a $7 milkshake, CBS Sacramento reports. According to the station, witnesses say the mayor was so mad about having to pay $7 for a banana milkshake, he started cursing and nearly got into a fight. "He was just throwing the f-bombs and pretty much everything else," Liliana Gracian, an employee of Fosters Freeze, a fast-food chain, told the station. Mooneyham reportedly swore he was overcharged for extra...

Until it was discovered beneath a city parking lot last fall, the skeleton had lain unmarked, and unmourned, for more than 500 years. Your local ComCast or CATV has it on Basic Cable on CBS Affiliate, at 10pm EST, and it's also available on CBS' Site, but you have to poke around under "Shows" Past Episodes, in their entirety, are availble on CBS, under "Shows", in chronological order. Besides the 8 amazing DVDs of "Jesse Stone Mystery Series", this may be Selleck's best effort. "Magnum PI" was a good 80s show - and I was an extra on "Little Girl Who" in the airport shootout scene, with Tom, his Wife and kid. Fun times.
