Odds are, the story has completely changed, but who knows for sure. Ah! Decades-old spoiler alert! Mark Hamill may have spilled the beans about his iconic Star Wars character years ago while doing an interview with the late film critic Gene Siskel around the time Return of the Jedi was released. In the unearthed interview, Hamill said George Lucas explained to him his layout for the prequels and also told Hamill to be ready, because he had plans for Skywalker many years down the road.

A spectre is haunting Seattle—the spectre of Kshama Sawant. Consider the April 12 Seattle Times editorial. In it, the editorial board called on Mayor Ed Murray to forgo a re-election bid. The reason: The child sexual-abuse allegations recently leveled against him make him vulnerable. “If he runs under that cloud,” the paper reasoned, “it increases the possibility of a Mayor Kshama Sawant, or some other extreme left-wing ideologue, steering this booming city wildly off course.” This was an odd argument to make, especially since Councilmember Sawant is almost certainly not running for mayor this year. In the swell of resistance...

The arsonist who set the massive fire at the partially built Da Vinci apartment complex in Downtown Los Angeles after being inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement in 2014 was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Monday. Dawud Abdulwali, who said the fire was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and his rage against police officers, pleaded no contest to one count of arson and admitted to using an accelerant to start the blaze, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office and reported by the Los Angeles Times. According to local...

Republican leadership is looking to fund Planned Parenthood in their latest spending bill but not the Trump border wall. Could these lawmakers be any more out of touch with their base? CNS News reported: “ When Donald Trump stood in the lobby of Trump Tower on June 16, 2015 and announced he was running for president, he told all who listened to “mark” his words. “I would do various things very quickly,” Trump said. “I would repeal and replace the big lie, Obamacare,” he said. “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border,” he said. “And I...

Which is . . . ? Donald Trump obviously doesn’t need to worry. If he crosses any of Obama’s red lines, all that will happen is that Vladimir Putin will swoop in and broker a phony deal in which Trump pretends to give up his weapons. I suppose there are still leftists who buy the narrative that Trump and Putin are best pals, so the whole thing is set up from the start. Seriously, though . . . one thing we know about Obama is that he is willing to fight an enemy. It’s just that he has to actually...

A geology professor at Pomona College says she will prioritize students of color, immigrants, and low-income students for enrollment in a class with a strict 15-student cap. A flyer advertising the course on “Southern California Earthquakes and Water,” an introductory geological science class with a particular focus on “the particular geologic challenges” of Southern California, expresses a particular desire for “students from a range of backgrounds whose varied perspectives will contribute to the course.”

It’s been something of an article of faith around here that government workers have a pretty easy time of things compared to those of us laboring in the private sector. Having a job where it’s almost impossible to be fired no matter how well (or poorly) you perform, even during a recession, provides the sort of peace of mind most American workers can only dream of. And the pay and benefits are pretty sweet also, all thanks to the generosity of the American taxpayer. But specific data on such comparisons between the public and private sector can be a bit...

I have a computer question. My dads laptop has several occurrences of a MS Office Outlook Social Connector (7) that were installed in 2013 and 7 instances of some sort of Windows Live Mesh software installed on the same date, but those are in Spanish (I think). Question, can I safely get rid of those programs and can my dad get MS Outlook on his laptop running Win 7 - He likes it better than Live Essentials. Thanks for the help.

Turkey will close the door on joining the European Union if it adopts constitutional changes backed at a referendum last week, a leading member of the EU parliament responsible for dealings with Ankara said on Wednesday.Kati Piri’s comments come a day after President Tayyip Erdogan told Reuters Turkey will not wait at Europe’s door forever and could walk away from EU accession talks if rising Islamophobia and hostility from some member states persist. The Dutch centre-left lawmaker, who is “rapporteur” on Turkey, told reporters ahead of a plenary debate on relations with Turkey that if Erdogan pushed through all the changes,...

Social Justice Warriors: Antifa, anarchists, racial elitists of color and educated snobs have gone the extra mile to make themselves obsolete Social justice wish lists have grown over the years by adding the impossible: reparations for slavery, controlling CO2 levels, eradicating offensive speech, selective homicide and regulating thought in general. Advocates of these causes have ramped-up assaults on anyone who disagrees. Flooding college campuses and spilling onto surrounding streets, their disruptions signal the disintegrating state of what we refer to as education. It’s convenient to blame the rise of media, televised and electronic, for the increasing anger and violence among...

The chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee thinks spending "billions of dollars" on a border wall isn't the right way go to bolster national security. In a telephone town hall, Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado shot down President Donald Trump's southern border wall as too expensive and not necessarily the best strategy to seal the nation's southern border. "As far as the wall goes, I believe we have to have border security, but I do think billions of dollars on a wall is not the right way to proceed," he told a voter, Politico reported.

Mass murderer Willie Parker has been performing abortions for decades. He has filled hundreds of hazardous waste dumpsters with the dismembered bodies of unborn human beings, and made enormous profits doing so. Yet, in spite of the gallons of blood he has spilled and the thousands of women he has exploited, he still claims to be a “Christian.” I should say, because of the death and the blood and the exploitation, Willie Parker calls himself a “Christian.” He contends not only that his faith permits the summary execution of babies, but that it actually calls him to it. As Time...

... Although Mexicans still make up the largest group of unauthorized immigrants, numbers from Mexico have been on the decline since the Great Recession began in late 2007. The number of unauthorized immigrants from other countries has been on the rise since the end of the recession, hitting an estimated 5.7 million in 2016. Immigrants from Central America and Asia – largely from India and China — are two of the main drivers of that growth. ...

REUTERS - - More than two-thirds of people living in Mexico, Chile and Ecuador are overweight or obese, costing their economies tens of billions of dollars every year, driving rates of disease and straining health services, according to a new UN report. While the number of hungry people in Latin America and the Caribbean has halved in the past 25 years, the region is now struggling to combat an obesity epidemic. Changing diets, including more processed food that are high in salt, sugar and fat, along with more sedentary lifestyles have triggered a rising tide of obesity, experts say. “The...
