Fentanyl is quickly becoming America’s deadliest drug. But law enforcement couldn’t trace it to its source — until one teenager overdosed in North Dakota. Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, Laura and Jason Henke awoke with a start at their home in Minot, N.D. Their dog was barking wildly. At the door, in the early morning shadows, they found a police officer and, behind him, a pastor. The officer asked to see Laura’s ID to confirm that he was at the correct address. Then he told them that their 18-year-old son, Bailey, was dead. The officer didn’t have...

The Egyptian government is hailing the discovery of more than 20 wooden coffins as “one of the largest and most important” archaeological finds in the past few years. The coffins were found in Assasif, a necropolis on the west bank of the Nile River. Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities tweeted images of the “intact and sealed coffins” Tuesday. The sarcophagi, which were stacked in two layers in a large tomb, still boasted their original carvings of faces and hands and colors of red, green, white and black that have not faded much over time... Egyptian officials have not given the time...

Earlier this month a judge determined that Harvard’s admissions practices did not discriminate against Asian applicants. The lawsuit which led to that decision was filed by a group called Students for Fair Admissions. SFFA hired an expert who looked closely at Harvard’s process and discovered something curious. While Asian students score the highest of any group on academics and extra-curricular activities, they score consistently lower than other groups on Harvard’s personality score. The lead attorney who worked on the lawsuit, Adam K. Mortara, was invited to speak about the decision at Harvard last week. He argued that the judge had...

The new Attorney General of New York State, aligned with Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Democratic majority in the state government, have passed a law allowing the prosecution of persons granted presidential pardons. As even NBC News was honest enough to admit, this was a measure cooked up specifically to “Resist” President Trump and blunt his ability to grant pardons to people associated with him. Of course, the devil is in the details as always. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a measure Wednesday that would allow the state to pursue charges against people who have received a presidential...

President Trump’s top immigration spokesman on Wednesday said that there are potentially 22 million illegal immigrants inside the United States, nearly twice the estimate regularly cited. Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which handles the legal immigration process, said the number comes from a study done by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That study put the number at 22.1 million. The number typically cited is 11 million to 13 million illegal immigrants in the country. The latest estimate, from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, is 14 million. An accurate count is difficult to calculate.

He didn’t even need time to buy a vowel. “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak has spent almost four decades entertaining Americans with a polished affability that makes his game show one of the more relaxing ways to spend a half-hour in front of a television. But on Tuesday night, it took him only three minutes and two tweets to skewer the entire Democratic presidential primary debate.

President Trump on Wednesday claimed in a series of tweets that it was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, not him, who suffered a “meltdown!” at an earlier White House meeting on Syria. Trump sent out three tweets with photos from the gathering, blasting Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer, who stormed out of the meeting and claimed the president called Pelosi “a third-rate politician.” In the first photo shared by Trump, which focuses in on the two lawmakers, the president wrote, “The Do Nothing Democrats, Pelosi and Schumer stormed out of the Cabinet Room!”

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The crowd is already gathering outside the American Airlines Center for the Trump campaign rally tomorrow evening. Among those in the small crowd that is slowly building, this group of women talked to us about why they came out so early. “Mr Trump, President Trump. [What are some of the things that you support that he’s done?] Oooh so much, (the wall), the wall for sure… security … he brought faith back out in the community … all of the above and being able to say God again.” The women, mostly strangers before today are from Des...

Amazon is dropping an additional $1 million-plus into Seattle’s pivotal City Council races, boosting its spending on politics in its hometown this year to an unprecedented $1.45 million. The corporate giant has now shelled out more on the council races than any other business or union, and all of Amazon’s company money has gone to a political-action committee (PAC) associated with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, which has been buying direct-mail advertisements and paying door-to-door canvassers. Amazon’s outlay is the largest “in anyone’s memory” by a single entity in a Seattle election cycle, said Wayne Barnett, executive director of...

A fundamentally political move against the conservative populistVIA TRISULTI, Italy (ChurchMilitant.com) - Italy's ministry for culture is claiming it has evicted Steve Bannon's "Gladiator School" from a 13th-century Italian monastery, 38 miles south of Rome. "As the DHI indicated when the Ministry for Culture first announced this politically motivated manoeuvre back in May, we will fight our case in court with every resource at our disposal," said Benjamin Harnwell, director of the Dignitatis Humanae Institute, in comments to Church Militant. "We look forward to demonstrating that the objections against the DHI promoted by the Left over the last two years...

NEWS ANALYSIS: Ostensibly his resignation was a consequence of the leaking of the names of five suspended Vatican officials, but sources tell the Register it was actually triggered by other issues.VATICAN CITY — The resignation of Vatican police commander Domenico Giani on Monday had been long expected, but the background to his removal remains shrouded in intrigue and mystery. The Vatican announced Giani’s replacement today, Gianluca Gauzzi Broccoletti, who has served in the Vatican police corps since 1995 and was appointed Giani’s deputy last year. A former officer in both Italy’s finance police, the Guardia di Finanza, and Italy’s Secret...

FULL TITLE: While Jake Tapper Is Interviewing Kellyanne Conway, Jeff Zucker Tells Producer To Skip Commercials, Extend Interview, ‘Just F***Ing Nail Her’ While yesterday’s full video from Project Veritas #Expose CNN series was relatively tame, today founder James O’Keefe reports an instance that is truly despicable. While CNN host Jake Tapper was on the air interviewing White House Senior Advisor Kellyanne Conway, CNN President Jeff Zucker enters the control room and tells the show’s executive producer to skip commercials, extend the interview from seven minutes to 25, and to “just f***ing nail her.” The whistleblower, Cary Poarch, donned his hidden...

YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon - For decades Nigerian migrants have left their country - both legally and illegally - hoping to escape poverty, conflict, and corruption. Those traveling without proper documents faced several risks, including hunger and thirst, robbery, and the dangers of sea crossings into Europe. If caught, Nigerian migrants can be detained and eventually deported from their destination or transit countries. The Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah, told Crux that migration is “the ultimate manifestation of our state of despair.” The bishop said the story of Africa is the story of a very irresponsible elite that has shown no...

The United Nations Human Rights Council has been a bad joke for a long time, with many of the world’s worst human rights abusers honored with membership. But tomorrow we will see the reductio ad absurdum, as Mauritania is voted onto the Human Rights Council. While the Mauritanian government officially denies that slavery is ongoing in the country, Mauritanian watchdog groups allege that one out of every two members of the country’s Haratine ethnic minority group are enslaved, and that as many as 20% of the population is enslaved. The exact number of slaves within the country is unclear, and...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc’s (AMZN.O) cloud computing arm is making an aggressive push into one of the most sensitive technology sectors: U.S. elections. The expansion by Amazon Web Services into state and local elections has quietly gathered pace since the 2016 U.S. presidential vote. The breathtaking hypocrisy of many of President Donald Trump’s accusers is about to be fully exposed. If you’ve been watching the impeachment theater these past few weeks, you’ve no doubt heard the very serious crimes they accuse the U.S. president of having committed. They have accused him of using his office for political gain and pressuring Ukraine to help investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. The fake news media has begun a full-court press to sell the narrative of a besieged president who is slipping underwater, growing more and more unpopular by the day, as so-called whistleblowers and manufactured scandals...
