The Democratic Party could soon be taken over by a leftist who has never formally been a member (even if he signed a pledge to govern as a Democrat should he make it to the White House). If it’s any consolation to Democrats, it’s a version of the same wrenching dislocation that has beset the center-left throughout the Western world. One reason Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic nomination is entirely imaginable is that it wouldn’t be a freakish occurrence outside the experience of other advanced democracies. In fact, it would be entirely consistent with the travails of traditional center-left parties...

In his essay Pete Buttigieg in 2000 praises Bernie Sanders and his unapologetic stand for socialism. You just can’t make this stuff up. From the essay. Fortunately for the political process, there remain a number of committed individuals who are steadfast enough in their beliefs to run for office to benefit their fellow Americans. Such people are willing to eschew political and personal comfort and convenience because they believe they can make a difference. One outstanding and inspiring example of such integrity is the country’s only Independent Congressman, Vermont’s Bernie Sanders. Sanders’ courage is evident in the first word he...

One of the biggest mistakes that political analysts, especially those who spend a lot of time on Twitter, often make is they assume voters are as engaged in the process as they, or their audiences, are. The reality is that, largely due to media fragmentation, the “average” (more accurately, “median”) voter is even less educated in comparison to us news junkies, who have never had more information instantly available than what we can easily access today. Consequently, at least half of the massive electorate for a presidential general election has been, whether we like it or not, paying very little,...

February 14 2020 Memorial of Saints Cyril, Monk, and Methodius, Bishop Reading 1 1 Kgs 11:29-32; 12:19 Jeroboam left Jerusalem, and the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite met him on the road. The two were alone in the area, and the prophet was wearing a new cloak. Ahijah took off his new cloak, tore it into twelve pieces, and said to Jeroboam:“Take ten pieces for yourself; the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will tear away the kingdom from Solomon’s grasp and will give you ten of the tribes. One tribe shall remain to him for the sake of...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez admitted this week that Sen. Bernie Sanders may have to compromise and nix his ambitious Medicare for All plan if he is elected president. The New York congresswoman, a staunch supporter of the more progressive single-payer healthcare system, made the revelation in an interview with HuffPost that was published Thursday. Ocasio-Cortez noted the difficulties as president of passing legislation, especially for a politically unpopular policy like Medicare for All.

Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., have seen a recent surge in the 2020 race after the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary, but a new report suggests that the way mainstream media outlets describe the two candidates is not accurate. The Media Research Center's NewsBusters project collected some examples of the news coverage Buttigieg and Klobuchar have received in recent weeks that depicts them as "moderates" and juxtaposed those clips with ones that describe their policies. "Bernie Sanders won the progressive primary there in Iowa and Pete Buttigieg won the moderate one,"...

New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited the White House on Thursday in the hope he could persuade President Trump to reverse a recent decision to boot New Yorkers from Global Entry and several other Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP), which allow travelers to avoid long lines at the U.S. border. The leaders' dispute centered on New York's new “Green Light Law," which lets unauthorized immigrants obtain state driver's licenses and also bars federal immigration agents from accessing state motor vehicle records. The Trump administration said that cutoff from state records threatened public safety and responded by blocking New Yorkers from...

Thanks to a bill that former Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law in 2017, California will hold its presidential primary election in March this year rather than June, giving the 2020 Democratic candidates an earlier shot at capturing the Golden State’s nearly 500 delegates. But U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters argues that her home state – the nation’s most populous, with nearly 40 million residents -- is still getting shortchanged when it comes to influencing which Democrat carries the party’s banner in presidential elections. “A lot of people have come to the conclusion that it should not simply be Iowa and...

MSNBC anchor Ari Melber called out the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as well as its chairman Tom Perez for changing its debate rules that could pave the way for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to land a spot on the debate stage. The DNC sparked controversy last month after it announced that it would no longer require its candidates to meet a donor threshold, which along with polling benchmarks were required for 2020 Democrats to meet in order to have a podium. But since Bloomberg has been self-funding his campaign, he was considered ineligible to participate despite his...

U.S. officials have confirmed to Fox News Thursday that a U.S. Navy warship intercepted Iranian-made weapons from a vessel in the Arabian Sea earlier this week. Crew members from the USS Normandy seized a huge cache of weapons from a dhow – a small vessel with lateen sails – on Sunday while conducting maritime security operations in the U.S. Central area of operations. The weapons and weapon components were intended for the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to officials.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said he could potentially endorse President Trump for reelection just a week after he voted to convict the president for abuse of power, according to a report published Thursday. “Everybody can change,” Manchin told Politico. “Maybe the president will change, you know? Maybe that uniter will come out, versus the divider.” Manchin said that, although Trump did his best to unseat him in 2018, the two were having lunch together a week after his third-term reelection.

With populist Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont now considered the front-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination, concern and resistance is growing among mainstream and establishment Democrats inside and outside the nation’s capital. Moderate lawmakers sounded the alarm bells Thursday, Fox News’ Chad Pergram and Marisa Schultz reported from Capitol Hill. “It’s bad,” one freshman Democrat from a swing district said. “We are having conversations about how to deal with this.”

The church must find ways to “facilitate a respectful and protected space for all members of the society in so far as they do not breach the rights of others in terms of liberty and justice”, and this includes women’s rights to abortion, a senior Anglican cleric in Jamaica said here last night. “To deny a woman access to safe and legal abortion is clearly an affront to ethical health practices; respect for self-determination; and most of all, the woman’s right to life,” said the Very Reverend Father Sean Major-Campbell, Dean of Kingston and Rector of Christ Church in Vineyard...

Censorship. It’s everywhere. Mainstream media daily silences opposition. Social media giants suppress content and suspend accounts at alarming rates. But the form of free speech suppression that goes largely unnoticed is very public. We’re surrounded by it. Our roadways are adorned with billboards selling services, products and worldviews. When it comes to abortion, outdoor advertising companies are increasingly promoting pro-abortion lies while banning pro-life truths. Ten years ago, the organization my wife and I founded—The Radiance Foundation—was the first to launch public ad campaigns that confronted the leading killer in the black community. Abortion outnumbers the top fifteen causes of...

Topeka, KS – A case that extraordinarily began nearly fourteen years ago may have finally reached its conclusion, according to court documents recently obtained by Operation Rescue. Shawnee County Court Judge Franklin Theis issued a judgement that upheld a January 2019 license revocation order issued by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts against abortionist Ann Kristin Neuhaus. While that sounds relatively routine, the Neuhaus case was anything but. To understand why, it requires a quick look 25 years into the past. Neuhaus once operated her own abortion business in Lawrence, Kansas, then traveled to Wichita in the late 1990’s to...

New York, NY – A woman on an ambulance gurney who appeared to have been visibly pregnant, was wheeled out of the Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Manhattan, New York, to an awaiting New York Fire Department ambulance. The incident happened on February 7, 2020, at approximately 10:10 a.m. The woman, whose head was wrapped with a sheet, was strapped to the gurney in the semi-seated position. A gauze secured with tape could been seen on the inside of her left arm that appeared to attached to an IV bag above her shoulder. An orange gurney strap accentuated...

Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo are prepared to testify at the upcoming trial for Empire actor Jussie Smollett, according to their lawyers, who also mentioned that the two brothers will not feel vindicated unless Smollett is found guilty of lying to police, adding that they do not have any “ill will” toward the actor — only toward his lawyers, for calling them “liars.” “They have no ill will towards Mr Smollett,” said Gloria Schmidt Rodriguez — one of the lawyers for the Osundairo brothers — to the Daily Mail. “They really feel like their role in this now is...

Roger Waters of the band Pink Floyd has publicly slammed President Donald Trump as a “tyrant and mass murderer,” adding that the president’s supporters have turned the United States into a “fool’s hell.” Waters also said that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is the only Democratic presidential candidate who could beat President Trump. The British rocker spoke earlier this week in New York at a Q&A session following a screening of his concert film, Us + Them, according a report from Rolling Stone. He launched into an unhinged rant about President Trump when asked why more Americans aren’t upset about the...
