It's the Super Bowl of American politics. The voters go to the polls to register their verdict on two years of President Obama and four years of Democratic control of Congress. Will 2010 be a wave, a Tea-nami, or a meteor strike? (Check PJM throughout the day for extensive election coverage.) CALIFORNIA Key Races: Governor, U.S. SenateTim Daniel reporting: One day before what may be the most historical midterm election in generations, both the U.S. Senate and governor races appeared to be bucking the national incumbent-booting/tea party trend. The success of the two campaigns on Tuesday will hinge on enthusiastic Republican...

This is the high-impact political ad, of 2010. Video, October 20, 2010, "Chinese Professor," by Citizens Against Government Waste http://gulagbound.com/7800/the-most-powerful-video-ad-of-the-2010-election-season Political pollster, Frank Luntz showed this to his focus group and it drew the highest marks of all, the highest this observer has ever seen. Republicans in his audience took the famous Luntz dial pads and scored it 95 percent favorable -- and Democrats reached the 70's -- Democrats. That is because it goes to the heart of what is disturbing American Citizens about Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid (George Soros, Maurice Strong) and the mega-subterfuge of the overall...

Excerpt from middle of article Among the many measures the Democrats want to push through Congress, is the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S-510), which will essentially bring the agriculture industry under the control of the federal government. From day one of this administration, the goal has been to "transform the United States of America" into a socialist-like system in which formerly-free people must get government's permission to exercise their liberty or pursue their happiness. Another measure that makes Democrats drool is the Clean Water Restoration Act (S-787). This bill would give to the federal government jurisdiction over every drop...

For two years we've been waiting, and now Election Day is here. The polls are open on the east coast and will be opening shortly here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and all across the country, and I pray that the turnout is a record number of America-loving patriots. I also pray the socialist slugs will stay home, but I know we have a terrible upcoming battle against the cheating liberals in every election taking place today. After the past two years of unbelievable, unconstitutional overreach by the America-hating left in Washington, the majority of Americans has had enough and...

Since the beginnings of our country, the 2 November 2010 election cycle is the most important in our nation’s history. To be sure, there have been other times in said history that were perilous; most notably under the progressive (a.k.a. leftist, Marxist, fascist) reins and reigns of Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter and even Teddy Roosevelt. During their respective presidencies (especially under Wilson who created the Committee on Public Information [CPI] our nations’ first true ministry of propaganda--one which would prove to be [amongst other Wilson offerings] an inspiration to then burgeoning Nazi Germany). But, none of...

"We can run on this," David Axelrod, President Obama's chief political strategist, said nine months ago as Congress debated Obamacare. On Tuesday, the president's party appears poised to lose control of the House and to be reduced to dependence on Vice President Joe Biden's tiebreaking vote to retain vestigial power in the Senate. Axelrod's advice surely ranks among the worst campaign miscalculations in American political history. And it is indeed difficult to account for an error of such magnitude without thinking that Obama and Axelrod ignored what they surely could see with their own eyes. The evidence was certainly there...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she expects President Barack Obama to stay the course on domestic and foreign policy even if Republicans make big gains, as expected, in hotly contested congressional midterm elections. Clinton told students and civic leaders in Malaysia that she had spoken to Obama by phone on the eve of the vote, and joked that she thought he seemed "a little envious" that she was abroad for an election that may see Democrats lose control of Congress."I think he was a little envious that I am here," Clinton said,...

This election is not over. Not by a long shot. If you think Democrats and Progressives are going to sit on their hands and watch this wave election happen, you are deluding yourself. This morning, in small towns across this nation, labor unions, activist groups, and other liberal machinery is activating, driving people to the polls as much as they can. They may or may not be successful. But ultimately, one thing can stop them: your vote. If you care about what happens with politics in this country, this is the time to show it: vote now. Here is the...

In what may be an indication of what tomorrow’s election results will be, Proposition 19, which would legalize both the possession and sale of marijuana, appears to be headed for defeat... In a state largely perceived as liberal – the land of fruits and nuts – the polling begs the question of whether the poll results presage GOP victories in the hotly contested races for Governor and the U.S. Senate.

This hour on the Michael Medved radio show, Michael Barone predicted that the Republicans will gain between 38 and 90 seats. (The midpoint is 64.)

At a fundraising event in Illinois, the old Solidarity union leader and former Polish president showed he had lost none of his passion for freedom fighting. Less than a week before TuesdayÂ’s midterm elections, Illinois conservatives welcomed an unlikely ally. Legendary Polish Solidarity leader, Lech Walesa, appeared in downtown Chicago last Thursday at a fundraising event organized by citizen watchdog group For the Good of Illinois. The former Polish president, trade-union organizer, and Nobel Prize laureate came rhetorically armed with a new Solidarity rallying-cry for Illinoisans yearning for new leadership. Before 300 conservative leaders and activists on Thursday, Walesa dourly remarked...

“YOU have been sat here too long for any good you have been doing,” Oliver Cromwell famously declared, as he dissolved the Rump Parliament in 1653. If the polls are to be believed, American voters will say much the same to George Bush's Republicans when they vote in the mid-term congressional elections on November 7th. Although the Republicans may hold on to the Senate, where only 33 of the 100 seats are at stake, almost everyone expects that they will lose the majority they have held in the House of Representatives for the past 12 years. The scent of Republican...

The compilation of all of the national Senate polls is showing a 50-50 tie again. The average showed this several weeks ago but saw a small bump in Democratic polling. Today, the split is again alive and well and Republicans would be just one seat away from a true majority. Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut may change parties or perhaps Democratic Senator Ben Nelson, who should expect a tough election year in 2012. In any case, the Democrats would see what was once a supermajority which could ram down unpopular bills by going through the filibuster completely disappear.

The Senate contest in West Virginia is between Joe Manchin's popularity and Barack Obama's unpopularity and in the end it looks as though Manchin's popularity will win out. Manchin leads John Raese 51-46 in PPP's final look at the race. Manchin is the most popular politician we've polled on anywhere in the country this year and it's by a wide margin. On this final poll his approval rating hit the 70% mark with only 22% disapproving of him. Usually you would expect someone with those kinds of numbers to have an easy time of it but Manchin's been hampered by...

I know it’s a bold prediction, especially in light of the poll numbers from the LA Times and the Field Poll, but Meg Whitman is about to take Jerry Brown to the mat. Here’s why: 1. Rasmussen has moved the race from Leans Democrat to Toss-up as of their latest report. It’s back in the margin of error of 4 points, at 49 to 45 in favor of Brown.
