As Democrat postmortem sets in and gun control proponents grasp for ways to explain the political beating they took on November 4, the explanation is already evident to voters -- "It's the Second Amendment, stupid." In 1992 James Carville provided a singular focus for the Bill Clinton campaign by quipping, "It's the economy, stupid." The Harvard Institute of Politics reports that this went from being a statement to an "internal audience of campaign workers" to being the way Clinton packaged and sold his presidential campaign. Fast forward 22 years and "It's the Second Amendment, stupid." The Washington Post admitted that...

On June 27 the office of Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) announced a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) investment of $300,000 for shotgun maker Maverick Arms. The TEF investment will be added to Maverick Arms own "$3.4 million in capital investment" to expand their Eagle Pass, TX, manufacturing facility. According to Perry's office, Governor Perry said "[the] TEF investment in Maverick Arms will help create jobs and opportunity in Eagle Pass, while reaffirming Texas' longstanding support of the Second Amendment." "Maverick Arms is a subsidiary of Mossberg Corp.," which is "the oldest family-owned firearm maker in America." Mossberg CEO Iver Mossberg...

Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado, not only allows customers and employees to carry guns in the restaurant, they go out of their way to encourage it. According to the Post Independent, a sign on the front of the restaurant reads: "Guns are welcome on premises. Please keep all weapons holstered, unless the need arises. In such cases, judicious marksmanship is appreciated." Guns are carried openly by waitresses and patrons alike. The restaurant is owned by Lauren Boebert who says: "We encourage [carrying guns], and the customers love that they can come here and express their rights. This country was founded...

A national gun safety organization has set its sights on Minneapolis-based Target to stop gun-rights demonstrations in their stores. The group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense launched a petition on Wednesday. They’re asking Target’s interim CEO John Mulligan to establish a policy to prohibit people from openly carrying guns in its stores. “Already we’ve had several different restaurants say that they will no longer allow some open carry…some guns all together in their establishments,” said Shannon Watts with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. Last March, several people from the group Open Carry Texas were photographed walking down the...

A bill banning the sale of single-shot handguns that can be modified into semi-automatic weapons advanced in the California legislature on Thursday as lawmakers sought to close what the bill's supporters say is a loophole in the state's gun safety laws. Gun control advocates say thousands of weapons are sold in California each year without a required safety feature that indicates when a bullet is in the chamber, endangering children and others who may be shot accidentally. The bill passed the assembly 48-25, and goes to the state senate.

In a commercial set to run just before and after President Obama's January 28 State of the Union (SOTU) address, Gabrielle Giffords looks into the camera and says, "Congress is afraid of the gun lobby." According to the Associated Press , Giffords will push background checks as a way to "make it harder for criminals and the mentally ill to get guns." She will say, "9 out of 10 Americans support background checks." On December 4, Breitbart News reported a CNN poll that showed "50 percent of Americans oppose more gun control," and only "49 percent" support it.

On Monday's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC's Richard Wolffe mocked NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre for asserting a year ago that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," by using the example of Antoinette Tuff, who last August heroically talked a gunman in a school into surrendering. Wolffe treated one exceptional and unlikely case as if it proved LaPierre wrong as he awarded Tuff the show's "person of the year" award. Wolffe:
  • AR-15 Ammo Magazines Sent to Connecticut Governor, Legislators as 'Gift'

State Senate Majoriy Leader Martin M. Looney said he would have preferred to receive a different type of magazine for a Christmas present. “I wish he had sent me a New Yorker, the New Republic or the Atlantic,” Looney said when told he was the recipient of a high-capacity gun magazine. Specifically, both Looney, D-New Haven, and state Sen. John McKinney, R-Fairfield, each were sent one 28-round standard capacity AR-15 magazine, manufactured by C Products Defense Inc. of Bradenton, Fla. It was part of Alabama gun activist Mike Vanderboegh’s “Toys for Totalitarians” campaign, in which he is sending banned high-capacity...

Despite the never ending gun control push by the Obama administration, Senate Democrats, and gun control organizations during 2013, there were huge pro-gun moments. Breitbart News has compiled what we believe were the top five from 2013. Number five on the list is the lopsided win NRA-backed Virginia delegates secured over delegates backed by Michael Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) on November 5. Out of 67 delegate races, NRA-backed candidates won 65.

Citing intimidating reaction from opponents, a gun-owners group said Thursday it has shelved its intention to gather at Twin Cities neighborhood family events with their weapons in full view. The gun owners “meet-up” events, in which the promoters suggested that so-called “concealed-carry” permit holders carry their handguns openly, came as a surprise to some city officials and organizers of the Open Streets neighborhood gatherings. Shelley Leeson, the gun group’s director, explained that she called off the meet-ups because “people kind of freaked out and didn’t understand that we were just meeting up. It wasn’t trying to be some sort of...

To The Left On The 2nd Amendment: Give UpMarket Ticker Karl DenningerApril 25, 2013 It's over folks. Look, I know that "95% of America wants reasonable gun restrictions", or so the media says. So Obama says. So lots of people say. So after The Senate said "NO" to more Gun Control, after 80 years of so-called "gun control" that has not done one damn thing to actually reduce gun violence (and in the most-jackbooted areas it can be argued it has doubled homicides or more!) there should be thousands of people willing to march from McPherson Square in Washington DC...

Mayor Leigh Dollar is working with city officials to pass an ordinance that would give police the power to “disarm individuals” during a disaster, a chilling example of how the second amendment is being assaulted via the back door.(Click here to see a video) The new rule would allow authorities to confiscate guns of “unruly” people during an extreme weather event such as the April 2011 tornadoes or any other emergency. “The ordinance states officers could disarm individuals, if necessary, reports ABC 31....

Court Rules There Is No Right To Carry A Concealed Weapon Larry Bodine, Lawyers.comFebruary 25, 2013, 6:42 AM In a sweeping ruling, the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that there is no Second Amendment right to carry a concealed firearm in public. The broad wording of the decision in Peterson v. Martinez creates a far-reaching national precedent against carrying a loaded handgun outside the home. The case began on a narrow point – a challenge by a Washington State man against Colorado’s law to issue CHL permits (“Concealed Handgun License”) only to state residents. But the final ruling...

Gov. Dannel Malloy, together with Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, released a gun violence prevention proposal that they said will make Connecticut a safer place to be. "Two months ago, our state became the center of a national debate after a tragedy we never imagined could happen here," Malloy said in a statement. "The horrific tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School brought home the fact that we are not immune to problems that face the nation at large, that we can never become complacent in our effort to ensure the safety of our residents." The proposal outlines five primary areas where...

Guns And Ammo Production Maxed Out: “This Is A Society Preparing For War” Mac Slavo February 14th, 2013 President Barack Obama is, arguably, the best gun salesman ever. Over 65 million guns have been purchased since the President took office in 2009. FBI background check statistics indicate that, over the last twelve months, Americans purchased a new gun every 1.5 seconds, a figure which suggests there is much more to the recent panic buying than people just stocking up to go hunting or sports shooting. The following guns and ammo industry report indicates that every major gun and ammunition manufacturer...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The mayor of Minneapolis wants to reduce gun violence in the city and he’s taking a new approach. During Wednesday’s city council meeting Mayor R.T. Rybak said he’s going to closely examine where the city purchases its guns and ammunition. “We buy a lot of guns and ammunition, we should really question whether the companies that we are buying from are going to Washington and are working with us or fighting against us,” he said. Rybak says he wants to begin a constructive dialogue with companies they buy from and see if they would like to be...

Will You Submit & Obey? Eric Peters January 27th, 2013 In New York, we have a prequel of what’s to come – the repeal of the Second Amendment and summary criminalization of peaceful citizens merely for possessing the means of self-defense, even in their own homes. As in Great Britain, citizens of NY face prison if they use proscribed weapons against murderous thugs – even in their own homes. The tyrants Michael Bloomberg and Andrew Cuomo have made their decision. Now New Yorkers will have to make theirs. And so will the rest of us – if, as seems likely,...

I live in what is considered a safe neighborhood and stay in "safe" areas, never had a problem YET. Not familiar with guns although my husband used to have quite a collection and I had a Baretta shotgun. I'm not so much afraid of home invasions or robberies at this point - but times are changing. What I'm more afraid of is our government setting off a stampede of marauding hoards. I have NO clue what might be useful for me - need advice.
