Amazon employees are up in arms and stepping up the pressure on the higher brass to remove Amazon advertisements from the Breitbart News site. The overwhelming consensus from frustrated employees is the “alt-right” news site promotes discrimination, and it makes them feel “unsafe.” According to internal emails in February retrieved by BuzzFeed News, dozens of Amazon employees are voicing deep concerns through internal emails that Amazon advertise on Breitbart, despite being an outspoken critic of President Trump’s immigration policies. They are urging the company to cut ties with the news site.
  • That's not me: poll finds homosexuals in Germany don't feel represented in ads

    Deutsche Welle ^ | 04.06.2017 | Carla Bleiker
A new study has found that homosexuals in Germany don’t think ads mirror their lifestyle. Researchers say CEOs might want to change that, since the LGBT community is a lucrative target audience. Company executives are missing out. They are spending millions of euros on marketing every year to sell their products and services to the German population, but a significant part of this population doesn’t see itself represented in the ads and commercials that surround them. According to a representative poll by polling institute YouGov, almost half of those individuals in Germany who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual (LGB)...
  • Coca-Cola serves up gay-friendly ad for all genders, generations

Soft drinks maker Coca-Cola Co has launched a gay-friendly ad featuring a brother and sister vying for the attention of a handsome pool boy in the campaign that has won praise for diversity and inclusion. "Sibling rivalry never looked more inclusive," Out Magazine said of the commercial that debuted last week. Marketing Week also approved. The ad, part of the company's global "Taste the Feeling" campaign, features a teenage girl ogling the pool boy from a downstairs window while her brother does the same from upstairs. The duo race to the refrigerator and try to trip each other in a...

The exciting recent Super Bowl meant that fans paid more attention to the game than to the commercials. But there were some doozies, including the 84 Lumber commercial that sympathetically depicted a Latina mother and her young daughter trying to cross the border and enter America, only to encounter a foreboding wall. Hint, hint: President Trump wants to build a wall on the southern border. But at least two other commercials stood out. An Audi commercial highlighted the alleged problem of women receiving unequal pay. A male voice says: "What do I tell my daughter? Do I tell her that...
  • What was 84 Lumber thinking with its Super Bowl ad?

Uplifting and patriotic ads are a staple of the Super Bowl, so last night the astonishing cynicism of that 84 Lumber ad really stood out. “Come on, illegal immigrants: Risk your lives, drag yourself across the harshest terrain and endure the most agonizing hardships. We need the cheap labor!” In the 90-second spot for the construction-materials company, a Latino mother and daughter who are apparently sneaking across the southern border of the U.S. rise in the dark, walk along a barbed-wire fence, clamber aboard the boxcar of a moving train and wade across a river. In the full-length, six-minute version,...

Super Bowl LI on Sunday night was as close to a politics-free experience as a football fan could have hoped for, with even halftime performer Lady Gaga eschewing political talk in favor of high-energy showmanship — but several big-name brands couldn’t help but include overt political messaging in their Big Game advertising.

General Motors was under fire this weekend after a casting call for Cadillac sought members of the controversial alt-right movement. According to an image of the casting call posted by the news agency Reuters and many, many others, the notice said an agency filming the ad was looking for "any and all real alt-right thinkers/believers." "This is a beautifully artistic spot that is capturing all walks of life of America," the casting call says, adding that it would be filmed later this month. "Standing together as a union. This is not meant to be offensive in anyway. Just a representation...

Ask any schoolboy what the meaning of Christmas is, and he will say it celebrates the birth of Jesus. Ask the ideologues at Microsoft, and they will say it means whatever their politics dictate. This year it represents an opportunity to exploit Christmas by pushing the LGBT agenda. Microsoft has released a TV ad, “Art of Harmony,” that is laden with Christmas overtones, yet absent of Christian content. “This holiday season we brought together a group of people who are making a difference in the world,” the ad says. It does not say what holiday is being observed, though we...

Telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom and several other German firms have stopped advertising on the US media outlet Breitbart. A similar snub by Kellogg’s had sparked a furious response from the right-wing site. The carmaker BMW, the restaurant chain Vapiano, the supermarket chain Rewe, and Deutsche Telekom have all pulled their ads from the pro-Trump news site due to concerns about its content, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday. “The positions held by Breitbart.com contrast with Vapiano’s values, such as openness and tolerance,” said the restaurant chain offering Italian food across Europe and the US. Deutsche Telekom is also present on...

Advertising sells; supply and demand still rules supreme in the world of business. Meanwhile, the mainstream media’s ‘Fake News Frankenstein’ is already starting to falter Like a drowning man fights to take down his rescuer with him, the mainstream media’s hooked up with the European Union in attempts to take down Breitbart, Alex Jones and Drudge. A real life Mission Impossible unfolding before our very eyes. Truth seekers starved from the truth by elected governments of the day recognize the good guys: Breitbart, Jones, Drudge, just as they do the bad guys holed up in the mainstream media.

Shortened title. Full title: Claim: Twitter Denied Advertising Services to Trump Campaign Twitter’s CEO allegedly restricted Donald Trump’s use of paid advertising on the social media platform, even though the company stock has plummeted by 77 percent since the beginning of 2013. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey personally overrode an “upfront deal” for the Trump campaign to pay at least $5 million to generate engagement through customized hashtag branding, according to an essay by Gary Coby, Director of Digital Advertising and Fundraising for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

It's a blast from the past, who doesn’t enjoy looking at vintage gun ads? It's funny to see how they marketed firearms back in the early to mid 20th century, not to mention the prices! Here are 20 beautiful vintage gun ads from a bygone era. While some of these ads are from long ago, some are fairly recent. They speak to not only much cheaper pricing, but also to the changing cultural mores of the day. Here’s our time machine, sit down and enjoy. Ok, this one is just weird and dangerous! This one that promoted hunting tigers, which...
  • How Did Hillary Clinton Screw This Up? For Starters, Her Advertising Was All Wrong

So where did Hillary Clinton go wrong? Other than, well, being Hillary Clinton -- a widely disliked and distrusted candidate? Ad Age Editor Ken Wheaton just asked me if I thought Donald Trump's triumph is about "traditional advertising and millions in spending being useless." My short answer: Actually, no. My longer answer is that, while Donald Trump obviously benefited from an unprecedented level of free media coverage, which convinced him for much of the race that he didn't need to waste money on ads, in the end Team Trump did, in fact, plow a ton of money into advertising --...

Trump the Closer Posted November 4th, 2016 @ 7:43pm in #Trump #Clinton I had been wondering if Trump was planning some sort of special closing argument. He did not disappoint. In my opinion, his final ad is the political ad of the year, if not the best ever. Watch it here first and I’ll include my thoughts below. https://t.co/WvTLumkqxO Here’s what makes this ad so special: *SNIP*

Premium Motorsports announced Wednesday that Reed Sorenson’s No. 55 car will be branded in support of Donald Trump’s campaign at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Election Day is two days later. Sorenson, who sits 39th in the Sprint Cup Series standings, usually drives an unsponsored ride on Sundays. This week, his Toyota Camry will feature a patriotic paint scheme. The primarily white car features a starred ribbon running along the sides, with Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” displayed on the hood and back of the car.

  • Trump Launches Ad Blitz in Optimistic Blue State Pitch

    11/01/2016 7:46:21 PM PDT · by TigerClaws · 42 replies
The Trump campaign appears to be riding high and operating optimistically headed into the final week of the presidential campaign. The clearest sign of that comes in the form of a $25 million ad buy that includes new spots in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Mexico, all of which are classified as leaning Democratic in the current ABC News state ratings. The only of those three states that has recent reputable polling is Pennsylvania, the latest of which has Clinton leading by six points in the Oct. 16 Quinnipiac survey. Michigan hasn't voted Republican since 1988 and New Mexico has only...

Hillary Clinton's campaign is back on the air with TV advertising in Virginia and Colorado, and has begun running ads in New Mexico and Michigan -- all states that have seemed safely out of play for most of the election cycle. "The Trump campaign claims their path to White House is through states like these but we're going to make sure those doors remain shut," said campaign spokesperson Jesse Ferguson. "Fueled by record breaking fundraising in the last 72 two hours, we are supercharging our GOTV program with these ads to make sure voters know the urgency and the stakes...

Regular readers of this blog, our parent publication and pretty much any other outlet covering the advertising industry could be forgiven for thinking that it doubles as a left-of-center political advocacy group. No, really: How many agencies have either directly or indirectly run some kind of anti-Trump ad or stunt over the past year-plus? A whole hell of a lot of them. 180LA and Saatchi & Saatchi referenced The Donald in ads for 360fly and Tecate, respectively, while everyone from GS&P to a group of young, anonymous creatives has registered their disapproval of the Republican nominee via some kind of...
