Infectious Disease Experts & Multiple Research Studies Suggest Ebola Transmission by Air Can't be Ruled Out Standard surgical masks are not enough protection against Ebola virus, says a report from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. In an extensive commentary submitted to CIDRAP by national experts on respiratory protection and infectious disease transmission, the authors indicate that multiple research studies have shown that aerosol transmission of Ebola virus cannot be ruled out and should be suspected as a possible mode of transmission, and recommends at minimum a powered-air purifying respirators (PAPR) for healthcare...

Tuesday during a House of Lords debate Labour's Lord Robert Winston, a medical doctor who has presented scientific TV programs, said that Ebola could mutate into an airborne virus that is caught like a common cold. He was reacting to Health Minister Earl Howe's remark at the House of Commons that the Ebola risk to British people "remains low". At the moment the disease is passed through bodily contact or fluids such as blood and sweat, but the contagion risk would increase if the virus became airborne. Lord Winston asserted: "I am slightly concerned about the possible risk of...

There is always something special about science meetings. The 109th meeting of the Texas Academy of Science at Lamar University in Beaumont on 3-5 March 2006 was especially exciting for me, because a student and his professor presented the results of a DNA study I suggested to them last year. How fulfilling to see the baldcypress ( Taxodium distichum ) leaves we collected last summer and my tree ring photographs transformed into a first class scientific presentation that's nearly ready to submit to a scientific journal (Brian Iken and Dr. Deanna McCullough, "Bald Cypress of the Texas Hill Country: Taxonomically...

As the number of Ebola cases continues to grow, many of us are asking whether we are safe. How easily is it transmitted? The answer will determine whether this is a small outbreak in a few isolated areas or a pandemic worthy of a science fiction movie. The Ebola virus becoming airborne is a possible but unlikely outcome in the current epidemic, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Tom Frieden said Tuesday.

Kevin LoriaOctober 6, 2014 The idea that Ebola could go airborne is terrifying. Once you are infected, few diseases are more likely to kill you — and death by hemorrhagic fever, diarrhea and vomiting often accompanied by bleeding and organ failure, sounds particularly awful. At present it's hard to get infected — healthcare workers and family members caring for victims are at highest risk — but that would change if the virus were to mutate so that it could be transmitted through the air while keeping its present lethality. That's a nightmare scenario. But it's more the stuff of bad...

The empirical evidence of an airborne Ebola Strain is overwhelming Hat Tip GWP - Patrick Sawyer was the American businessman, who contracted Ebola while working in Liberia, then collapsed after he got off a plane to Nigeria and died July 25. He was the first patient in Nigeria with the Ebola virus. The Nigerian authorities have refused to release the names of other passengers on the plane with Mr. Sawyer, or notify the media of their status.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjYFZC3FB2g Weaponized Ebola ............. the story not being told Aerosol emission of a deadly/highly contagious pathogen! Article Below The primary Ebola strain being spread right now (as there are 2) was bioengineered using US Department of Defense (via USAMRIID), Monsanto, Alnylam, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck and Pfizer funding through a pharmaceutical company called Tekmira based in Vancouver Canada. A common Ebola-Zaire strain from West Africa was used as the base, but bioengeneered to become a respiratory illness (a hybrid of Ebola-Zaires & Lassa Hemorrhagic Fever, weaponized via USAMRIID at Fort Detrick) becoming a genetic variant of the original strain, which allowed...

NORMANDY, France -- On Monday, the "CBS Evening News" met Jim Martin of Xenia, Ohio. On D-Day in 1944, he parachuted into Normandy with the 101st Airborne Division. On Thursday, he performed an encore. Martin, now 93, joined daredevils from all over the world to commemorate the D-Day anniversary. He landed on the same patch of land as he did 70 years ago, just behind Utah Beach...

CONAKRY, Guinea — Ebola, one of the world's most deadly viruses, has spread from a remote forested corner of southern Guinea to the country's seaside capital, raising fears that the disease, which causes severe bleeding and almost always death, could spread far beyond this tiny West African nation's borders.

Fears are growing that the most lethal form of the Ebola virus can mutate into an airborne pathogen, making the spread of the terrifying disease more difficult to check. It was previously thought the untreatable virus, which causes massive internal bleeding and multiple organ failure, could only be transmitted through contact with infected blood. But now Canadian researchers have carried out experiments showing how monkeys can catch the deadly disease from infected pigs without coming into direct contact.k

In four days of desperate fighting, from 29 February to 3 March 2000, a large force of Chechen fighters wiped out a Russian paratroop company in the harsh defiles and ridges of the Argun Gorge in the mountains of southern Chechnya. Although the battle was a catastrophic tactical defeat for the Russian airborne force, the company's stubborn defense to the last man and the concentration of Russian relief forces inflicted a strategic setback on the Chechens. The Russians stumbled into this catastrophe through poor unit leadership, but Russian blood and valor transformed it into victory. Hatred to the Bone In...

Notice how the Russian VDV Airborne Paras jump without d-bags dangling outside the aircraft such that they can jump IN FRONT OF IL-76 JET ENGINES! By using drogue chutes they exit the plane clean and can have timers delay openings for HIGH ALTITUDE mass tactical jumps without trying to teach everyone belabored civilian skydiving stable body position skills. This means more Paras can jump from more doors and land closer together near their BMD light tank/APC to get into action far faster than U.S. Airborne equipment and techniques. And the VDV can jump with their IL-76 jets not having to...

Fort Bragg is canceling its July 4th celebration because of budget cuts and worker furloughs. The event - a tradition for more than 30 years - usually attracts 50,000 people and includes what many people believe to be among the best fireworks shows in the region. "Our reduced operating budget for the remainder of this year forces many very tough decisions," said Lt. Gen. Daniel B. Allyn, commanding general of 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg ... The Ebola virus can spread through the air from pigs to macaques, a new study suggests. Transmission of the virus — which causes an often fatal hemorrhagic fever in people and primates — was thought to require direct contact with body fluids from an infected animal or person. But in the new study, published online November 15 in Scientific Reports, piglets infected with Ebola passed the virus to macaques housed in the same room even though the animals never touched. “The evidence that the virus got from a pig to a monkey through a respiratory route is good,” says Glenn...
