During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama often discussed his mother's struggle with cancer. Ann Dunham spent the months before her death in 1995, Obama said, fighting with insurance companies that sought to deny her the coverage she needed to pay for treatment. "I remember in the last month of her life, she wasn't thinking about how to get well, she wasn't thinking about coming to terms with her own mortality. She was thinking about whether or not insurance was going to cover the medical bills and whether our family would be bankrupt as a consequence," Obama said in September...

To read Sally H. Jacobs’s new biography of Barack Hussein Obama Sr. is to realize that his son, the president, spent much of his life reaching for a shadow he was lucky never to catch. Early in The Other Barack, a childhood playmate recalls how Obama Sr. would frequently snap at him and shout, “You don’t know what you are talking about.” A few chapters later, the editor of the University of Hawaii literary magazine describes Obama Sr. barreling into his office, unprovoked, to declare that a particular poem wasn’t “worth a damn.” Back in Nairobi, says one government official,...

Why does BHO's official biography state: "His mother, Ann Dunham, was born and raised in small-town Kansas. After her family moved to the Hawaiian Islands, she met Barack Obama Sr., a Kenyan scholarship student enrolled at the University of Hawaii. The two married in 1959, and on August 4, 1961 ...." Wikipedia says that Stanley Ann graduated from highschool in Washington state in 1960, and moved to Hawaii and started college that fall, where she met BHO senior. "Dunham and Obama Sr. were married on the Hawaiian island of Maui on February 2, 1961, despite parental opposition from both families....

In her new biography of Ann Dunham, A Singular Woman, New York Times reporter Janny Scott corrupts Barack Obama's nativity story even more than a cynic might have thought possible. In so doing, Scott follows an ignoble media tradition that deserves exposure as does the story that it corrupts. At the very first moment of his national acclaim, the 2004 keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama established the foundational myth of his political ascendancy. Obama's father, Barack Obama Sr., had grown up in Kenya "herding goats." His mother, Ann Dunham, Obama traced to Kansas, as he always...

Newly released documents from Barack Obama Sr.'s immigration file, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, justify "birther" doubts about the nativity story on which Barack Obama based his presidential campaign. The documents were posted Thursday in an article by Heather Smathers on the Arizona Independent web site. When I checked with Brian Wedemeyer, the Independent's managing editor, he confirmed, "They are legitimate documents." A memo dated Aug. 31, 1961, from William Wood of the Immigration and Naturalization Services, does verify that Barack Obama, Sr. fathered a son, Barack Obama II, who was born in Honolulu on Aug, 4, 1961....

Stanley Ann Dunham, better known as President Barack Obama's mother, passed away in 1995 before seeing her son become the most powerful man in the world. In this weekend's New York Times Magazine, Dunham gets a long profile adapted from Janny Scott's forthcoming book, A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mother. The article paints a portrait of a complex woman who traveled to Indonesia with her second husband, battled the customs while raising her son and new daughter, and eventually returned to Hawaii. As Scott writes, "To describe Dunham as a white woman from Kansas turns out...

Complete title: NYT Mag features new book with Obama interview about his mother: 'She was a very strong person in her own way' FIRST LOOK – New York Times Magazine cover story, “WHY SHE WENT: When Barry Obama was 6 years old [in 1967], his mother moved him to Indonesia. It was a decision that would define his life and hers,” by Janny Scott, a reporter for The New York Times who went on leave in 2008 to write “A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mother,” from which this article, "The Young Mother Abroad," is adapted: “The...

The photograph showed the son, but my eye gravitated toward the mother. That first glimpse was surprising — the stout, pale-skinned woman in sturdy sandals, standing squarely a half-step ahead of the lithe, darker-skinned figure to her left. His elastic-band body bespoke discipline, even asceticism. Her form was well padded, territory ceded long ago to the pleasures of appetite and the forces of anatomical destiny. He had the studied casualness of a catalog model, in khakis, at home in the viewfinder. She met the camera head-on, dressed in hand-loomed textile dyed indigo, a silver earring half-hidden in the cascading curtain...

n a move sure to provoke controversy among right-wing groups in the United States, production is set to begin on a new Indonesian movie about Barack Obama’s childhood in Jakarta. The movie is expected to include scenes of the future US president prostrating to God in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, as well as reciting from the Koran. The film is based on the novel “Obama Anak Menteng” (“Obama the Menteng Kid”), which author Damien Dematra claims to be a true account of “Barry’s” childhood in the Jakarta suburb. The novel was reportedly written in five days after...

Today I am flying the Sons of Liberty Patriot Flag. I fly this flag when liberty is lost. In this case, the fault is with the Main Stream Media who was NOT reporting what you will see below. We have all heard bits and pieces of this, but Jo Anne Moretti has put all the information together in a readable format that connects the pieces and lets us see more clearly “who” our President was and now is. She is my first “Guest Blogger” on The Patriot’s Flag. Jo Anne Moretti and her friends spent three years compiling this information...

(snip) Obama moved to Indonesia in 1967 with his mother, American anthropologist Ann Dunham, and his Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro. They lived in a single-story rented house in Menteng-Dalam. An old school registry at Asisi records how, under the name "Barry Soetoro," he entered first grade at the start of the school year on Jan. 1, 1968. He was registered as a Muslim, based on his stepfather's faith. All students, no matter what their religion, attended Christian services. (snip)

Grinning happily at the camera, this is Barry Soetoro, the cherubic little boy who went on to become America's first black president. The charming images taken at a child's birthday party in Jakarta 40 years ago were released as Indonesia prepares to welcome Barack Obama back to the country for the first time since he became president. The Asia-Pacific tour will also take in Australia and Guam and has been described as an 'extremely important trip' involving 'important partners', a White House spokesman said. Regional security is expected to be a major focus of the visit. Ahead of the visit,...

Most Americans don’t realize we have elected a president whom we know very little about. Pictured: Barack Obama’s Autobiography, Dreams from My Father. Researchers have discovered that Obama’s autobiographical books are little more than PR stunts, as they have little to do with the actual events of his life. The fact is we know less about President Obama than perhaps any other president in American history and much of this is due to actual efforts to hide his record. This should concern all Americans. A nation-wide network of researchers has sprung up to attempt to fill in the blanks, but...

The democrats have sprung a last minute "gotcha" video of Scott Brown saying he wasn't sure if Obama's mother was married at the time of his birth. This transcript shows Michelle Obama saying: "Barack saw his mother, who was very young and very single when she had him, and he saw her work hard to complete her education and try to raise he and his sister." This took place at a speech at the July 10th 2008 round table discussion at Pierson Auditorium on the campus of the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

A photograph circulating on the Internet has raised new questions about the officially accepted account of President Obama's birth and early childhood. The photo shows Barack Obama Sr. at a dock, apparently arriving in Hawaii in 1959, welcomed by Stanley Dunham without his daughter, Ann Dunham. The photo raises the question whether Barack Obama Sr. had a connection to Stanley Dunham before Ann Dunham supposedly met him in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii. Undated photo shows Barack Obama Sr., with leis, and Stanley Dunham, immediate right, President Obama's grandfatherBarack Obama Jr. admitted in his autobiography "Dreams...
