Shortly after his release from the hospital, a suspect in last Friday's fatal shooting on Wilson Street has been arrested. Police say 24-year-old Larry Adams was shot in the neck by the homeowner while he and an accomplice tried to rob the man at gunpoint. Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards says Adams was taken into custody at his home in Cleveland without incident. "Adams was charged with murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property," Edwards explains. Adams' alleged accomplice in the robbery, 21-year-old Delwin Isaac Jr., died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police...

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - It was business as usual Thursday at Church's Fried Chicken on Michigan Avenue. A much different scene from the night before when Mobile police said the tables were turned on a would be robber. Authorities say 46-year-old Randall Ford went to the restaurant on Michigan Avenue just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, and tried to rob a man who was leaving the store. Police say Ford was using a box cutter as a weapon. That's when the 32-year-old potential victim pulled out a gun and shot Ford in the neck. "I can understand why he would defend...

  • Today in History October 26th 1774 Minute Men organized in the American colonies

    Minute Man National Historical Park ^ | October 26th 2010 | nps.gov
Why were the colonial soldiers called minute men? According to Massachusetts colonial law, all able-bodied men between the ages of 16 and 60 were required to keep a serviceable firearm and serve in a part-time citizen army called the militia. Their duty was to defend the colony against her enemies; chiefly the Indians and the French. The colonial militia sometimes fought side by side with British soldiers, particularly during the last French and Indian War in the 1750's and early 60's. However, as a result of the mounting tensions between Great Britain and her American colonies, that would soon change. In October...

A homeowner shot and killed a man who broke into her Northeast Side house early Tuesday morning, police said. Toni Hanes, 50, told police she was awakened by the sound of her bedroom door being kicked in around 3:30 a.m. in the 4800 block of Castle Path Drive, according to a police incident report. She grabbed a handgun from under her pillow, shot once and, as the intruder fled, she continued to shoot at him, the incident report states. At one point, he said, “It's OK, it's OK. They're already calling police,” she told investigators. Officers combing the area shortly...

Talk about brothers under the skin! When Constitutional Carry Activists in Wisconsin decided to meet at a local eatery in Madison two weeks ago they hardly realized they would re-enact a legendary protest from America’s not-so-recent past. In some ways the response of Authorities to a challenge of the status quo is eerily unaffected by the change of time or location or subject. In some ways the contemporary response is a drastic abandonment of American jurisprudence ideals (innocent until proven guilty for those who keep score.) A casual observer might be forgiven if he concluded the opposite- the response of...

Homeowner has no regrets, said child hit her with brick A thin woman with silver hair and dark-rimmed glasses stood Wednesday evening on her front steps, shattered glass at her feet and crowds of neighbors milling around the block and speaking of her in heroic terms. Margaret Matthews, 68, said she had been harassed for more than a year by a pair of boys in her South Shore neighborhood. On Tuesday, the boys stood on a shed in her front yard hurling bricks at her. Matthews, exasperated and uncertain whether police would respond, pulled out a gun and shot at...

More than 100 people grieved together in northeast Charlotte at a memorial Saturday for two men who were shot and killed while police say they were trying to rob a Pizza Hut. Many of the people gathered said they had mixed emotions – mourning the loss of two young men while abhorring the violent acts that led to their deaths. The two men – Gregory James Hardy and Dauntrae Wallace – were both 21-year-old felons, one on probation and one awaiting trial on unrelated charges. But family members and friends tried to portray them as more Saturday night – as...

Sheriff Jeff Long is the anti-gun Republican sheriff of Williamson County Tennessee. He convinced the County Commision to ban guns in parks a few months ago. Now he refuses to execute my Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, firearms, and explosives National Firearms Act (BATFE NFA) document as required by state law. First off I do not think that short barreled rifles, shotguns, suppressors (silencers), and machine guns ought to be regulated by the government. That being said I don't want to go to jail so I will try and comply with the law. In 2003 the Tennessee legislature passed public chapter...

Inside a cooler at an east Charlotte Pizza Hut, two would-be robbers were hitting and pistol-whipping a delivery driver. All the while, the driver said, he kept his right elbow pinned tightly against his body - holding a Glock 22 under his shirt and out of view. He didn't want to use the gun unless he was forced to, he recalled Tuesday. But as he felt one of the men lifting his shirt, nearly exposing the gun, the deliveryman opened fire. The two men killed - Gregory James Hardy and Dauntrae Wallace - were both 21-year-old convicted felons, one on...

Open carry gungrabbers are blithering NRA old school Zumboesque Fudds or prancing modern metrosexuals. Simple truth: Open carry proponents generally regard their sidearm as a tool to be used quickly and efficiently in the face of dire threat-animal, human or otherwise. (Yes, sometimes a firearm is a most effective signaling device, something your Grandfather understood and you have forgotten) A fact the”vast overwhelming majority of idiots”in American Culture do not understand about open carry is proponents do not necessarily regard every human they meet as a threat and if they do their use of open carry immediately signals they are educated...
