An 18-month-old girl suffered serious wounds to her face when she was mauled by her grandmother’s pit bull — the second time the same dog attacked a child, officials said Sunday. The toddler was hospitalized, and may have also suffered an injury to one of her eyes in the attack. CHICAGO (CBS) — A 57-year-old woman is killed after being attacked by a pit bull on Chicago’s far South Side. It happened near 101st and South Calhoun around noon Saturday. Police said when officers arrived at the scene, the dog charged at them. Both officers fired their guns killing the dog. The victim was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Police were called to a residence on Laurel Ave. just before 6 p.m. on Friday for reports of a pit bull attack. A 10-year-old girl suffered substantial injuries from the attack, especially to the facial area. James Strickland, the Army veteran who shot and killed a pit bull, shared his story with Action News Jax. The owner of the pit bull Strickland killed, Moustapha Ba, spoke to us as well. Another fox has died after being mauled by a jaguar that escaped its enclosure Saturday morning (July 14) at Audubon Zoo, officials said Sunday. The fox's death brings the overall number of animals killed by the escaped jaguar to eight. Zoo officials announced Sunday morning that a fifth alpaca had also succumbed to its injuries. In total, five alpacas, two foxes and one emu were killed by Valerio the jaguar, who escaped his enclosure Saturday morning. One other fox was injured in the attack and continues to be monitored by the zoo's veterinarians.

A Rock Hill man has been charged with domestic violence against his wife involving — the man's pit bull.
