A Washington barber defied Gov. Jay Inslee’s “stay-at-home” order on Saturday and opened his shop to a long line of supportive customers. Bob Martin, a former Marine who has operated the barbershop for over five decades, initially followed the directive and closed shop for about a month, Q13 FOX reported. As the order dragged on and money became tight, Martin said he reopened in secret and cut hair without turning the lights on. It appeared Martin would have to remain closed for the near future after Inslee on Friday extended the state’s stay-at-home order through May 31. Under his four-phase...

Barber Steve Gomez was hunkered down at his home in Pueblo on Wednesday when he heard an unexpected knock. The man said he was in need of a haircut and wanted to know if Gomez would be at Prestige Barbershop on Friday. “I didn’t even know people had my phone number,” Gomez said. When Anthony Mancinelli became a barber nearly a century ago, Warren Harding was in the White House, a haircut cost 25 cents and leeches were still used to treat high blood pressure. As hairstyles changed over the decades, he adapted. “I cut them all,’’ he told The New York Times last year, “long hair, short hair, whatever was in style — the shag, the Buster Brown, straight bangs, permanents.” “I have some customers, I cut their father, grandfather and great-grandfather — four generations,” he added. Mr. Mancinelli never stopped cutting hair — except to join the Army and serve in...

Speculation abounded Sunday after President Trump was photographed with what appeared to be a new hairstyle during a surprise visit Sunday to a Virginia church. Trump’s slicked-back hair was a far cry from his usual look, which has been the subject of mockery in the pages of The New Yorker and "Saturday Night Live."

At about 9:30 p.m., at the All Stars Gentlemen's Club parking lot in San Antonio, Texas, a barber and a police officer got into a gunfight. Both were seriously wounded. A female witness was wounded with a bullet crease to her head. The police reported the incident was caused by road rage. That seems to be correct. The barber was cut off by the police officer. They both pulled into the parking lot. They both got out of their vehicles. Then the gunfight happened.Initially, the story from the police was the barber opened up on the police officer, who was...

WINDSOR, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – The oldest working barber in the world is making sure his clients look and feel their best this holiday season. He works right here in New York, in the small upstate town of Windsor, the town’s oldest resident is still at work. “How old am I? 107,” said Anthony Mancinelli. He’s in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest barber in the world. So how does it feel? “I don’t know, I am just happy I am still a barber,” Mancinelli said. He still works full time, putting in 40 hours a week. His...

Anthony Mancinelli shook out a barber towel and welcomed the next customer to his chair in Fantastic Cuts, a cheery hair salon in a nondescript strip mall, about an hour’s drive north of New York City. “Hey, paisan — same as usual,” said John O’Rourke to Mancinelli, who began layering O’Rourke’s hair with his steady, snipping scissors. “I don’t let anyone else touch my hair,” said O’Rourke, 56, of Cornwall, New York. “The guy’s been cutting hair for a century.” Actually, O’Rourke was off by three years. Mancinelli is 107 and still working full time, cutting hair five days a...

Rest assured, Granite Staters. Your state government is hard at work protecting you from violent crime, dirty water and bad hair days. The state Board of Barbering, Cosmetology and Esthetics regulates who can cut hair professionally in New Hampshire. In order to obtain a barber’s license, you need to have a high school degree, 800 hours of instruction at a state-approved barbering school, 1,600 hours apprenticing under an already licensed barber, pass a test and pay a fee. There are even steeper requirements for cosmetology, defined as “arranging, dressing, curling, waving, cleansing, cutting, bleaching, coloring or similarly treating the hair...

Morrisville, N.C. — The president of the North Carolina NAACP was escorted off an American Airlines flight Friday night. Rev. William Barber was returning to Raleigh from Washington, D.C., when, he says, he was removed from the flight. [snip]Barber said a passenger in a seat nearby was talking loudly as the plane filled up and asked the stewardess to request the passenger lower his voice. After requesting assistance from the flight attendant, Barber said he overheard the nearby passenger making "distasteful" and "disparaging" comments about him. According to Barber's statement, the passenger said he had problems with "those people" and...

I appreciate it when leftists get off script, dispatch with the propagandist talking points and say what’s really on their minds. “Progressives” hate natural marriage. And they hate the natural family. But they do so love big government. In an article for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation titled, “Is having a loving family an unfair advantage?” Joe Gelonesi, host of “The Philosopher’s Zone” radio program, calls the natural mom-dad biological family a “weathered institution ever more in need of a rationale for existing.” While he admits that it may be premature to “abolish the family and put children into care of...

Liberals overplay their hand. It’s part of the deficiency. Whether real or perceived, if the pagan left can rationalize a sense of “progress” on some freedom-killing cause du jour, then it’ll push, push, push until it falls flat on its face. Step aside, America. Give them room. Religious liberty is non-negotiable. Freedom of conscience is the bedrock of American society. Today’s anti-Christian lynch mob, which angrily imagines that some newfangled “gay right” to not be offended trumps the First Amendment, is not only on the wrong side of the U.S. Constitution, it’s on the wrong side of history. It’s also...

ORLANDO, FL — Deputies and state regulators aggressively raided Orlando-area barbershops, roughing up innocent staff and handcuffing them on the floor in an effort to check if the barbers had acquired government permission to legally cut hair. A series of these raids has recently come to light, one of which is making its way through the litigation process in the federal court system. This was the raid of the Strictly Skills barbershop in Pine Hills, Florida, in which government agents warrantlessly stormed in the establishment with as many as 25 customers and 6 staff members present.

PHOENIX — The Pima County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday rejected a request from Democratic Rep. Ron Barber to delay certifying election results as he challenges the reasons ballots that could shrink Republican challenger Martha McSally’s slim vote lead weren’t counted. Kevin Hamilton, a lawyer representing Barber’s campaign, said in a letter to the board that there are more than 130 rejected ballots that should have been counted. Barber’s campaign has collected affidavits from voters who said they were qualified to cast a ballot but had their ballots rejected. “As a result, if the board certifies the canvass without correcting...
