  • The bigots of NPR

We should have known about Juan Williams long ago. The signs of a simmering bigotry were always there. The political commentator wrote the book "Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965." He followed that up with an admiring biography of Thurgood Marshall. Then, more books on the African-American religious experience, historically black colleges and black farmers. If there was anyone clearly on the verge of exploding in a venomous rant against a minority group, it was Williams. And then, inevitably, it happened.

Juan Williams once again got himself into trouble with NPR for comments he made at his other job, at Fox News. And NPR's reaction has unleashed an unprecedented firestorm of criticism directed not at Williams – but at NPR. (snip) Thursday was a day like none I’ve experienced since coming to NPR in October 2007. Office phone lines rang non-stop like an alarm bell with no off button. We’ve received more than 8,000 emails, a record with nothing a close second. (snip)At noon, the deluge of email crashed NPR’s “Contact Us” form on the web site.

No, not the anti-Semitic part, no word of which deserves defending. But there is a sad, circular pattern to the bigotry that Sanchez obviously experienced and was scarred by, embittered to the point that even as a successful cable anchor, it escaped his lips one day and blew up his career. That's why racism, and every form of discrimination, is so insidious: It can make you crazy, and is very, very hard to make a clean break from. *Photo* For those who missed the story, Sanchez was fired from CNN on Friday after an Oh-My-Lord Sirius/XM radio interview in which...
  • Bill Maher says most Americans stupid for believing in religion and the Bible

Bill Maher says most Americans are stupid for believing in religion and the Bible. Appearing on the O’Reilly Factor yesterday for the second night in a row (in what was some kind of Bill O’Reilly-provided showcase for Maher’s shockingly provocative views), Maher disdainfully branded the majority of the American people as unsophisticated morons because, essentially, the US is a predominantly Christian country where people read the Bible, go to church, and actually have the non-European tradition of believing in a higher power.

Where to find the "blunder-prone spiritual leader of rigid intellect and uncommunicative soul"? Why, in today's New York Times! Where a remarkable hit piece by someone named Roger Cohen appeared today. His commentary on Pope Benedict's visit to Great Britain brings back a nostalgic feeling, the kind history buffs would associate with the great Know-Nothing Party of the 19th century. Of the visit in general, Mr. Cohen disapproves. " Seldom has a long-delayed journey been so ill-timed." And, to be sure, he is not alone, for thankfully, "Benedict has not been received with open arms." And why not? ..." Today,...
  • The Media's Bigotry is Showing

There is no escaping the fact that traditional mainstream media outlets have been trying to label recent conservative movements as racist, or tinged with racism. This has been the case from the town hall meetings and the Tea Party to Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally. From the latest coverage of Beck's rally, it is clear that the media has some very deep-seated stereotypes that it just can't seem to excise from its coverage. A less charitable analysis would conclude that the media's bigotry is showing.

Those who want to build a mosque at Ground Zero could build it anywhere. Why do they insist on building it there? Either they are utterly insensitive to the spirits of the dead and to the feelings of the survivors, or they are intentionally insulting those spirits and those feelings. Why should we try to please such people? Why should we try to placate those who heap vile insults on those who oppose the mosque? Why should we use “freedom of religion” to excuse appeasing those whose aim is to abolish freedom of religion? Proponents of the mosque claim that...

I imagine by now that most people here have had a chance to listen to the statement made by Charles Sherrod (as displayed in a YouTube video, "Charles Sherrod And His Uncle Toms" that "we must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections." This statement brings several thoughts to mind, namely: Who made Charles Sherrod the decider for who is and isn't an uncle tom? Would he have the right to say that blacks must adhere to a certain political worldview or otherwise they are an uncle tom? How could Charles Sherrod's words help to...

This year Reginald Mayo, the Superintendent of New Haven Public Schools, removed the phrase ‘In the Year of Our Lord’ from diplomas, based on a single complaint, and revealed that his 37 years in the education field haven’t taught him much. It’s a religious thing. I’m surprised it took this long for someone to notice it. We certainly don’t want to offend anyone. The ‘thing’ Mayo refers to is the Gregorian calendar.

In 1992, the feminists in the media rejoiced at what they called "The Year of the Woman," when 10 Democratic women (and one Republican) ran for the Senate in the aftermath of Anita Hill's unproven sexual-harassment allegations against Clarence Thomas. Just two years before, seven Republican women (and two Democrats) ran, but the media just yawned. In 1992, the evening newscasts aired 29 stories exclusively devoted to female Senate candidates. In 1990, there was one ... on election night. In 1992, the morning shows interviewed female Senate candidates on 26 occasions. In 1990, there were zero. This was all about...

GENEVA (Reuters) - Muslim states said on Wednesday that what they call "islamophobia" is sweeping the West and its media and demanded that the United Nations take tougher action against it. Delegates from Islamic countries, including Pakistan and Egypt, told the United Nations Human Rights Council that treatment of Muslims in Western countries amounted to racism and discrimination and must be fought. "People of Arab origin face new forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance and experience discrimination and marginalization," an Egyptian delegate said, according to a U.N. summary. And Pakistan, speaking for the 57-nation Organization...

How radical Islam makes you: a bigot religiously - a racist ethnically UNIQUENESS OF ISLAM'S INTOLERANCE While Christianity, ever since the termination of the Crusades and the Spanish inquisitions has no plans to "convert by force" anybody else, nor is ever Buddhism or Judaism, Islam --on the other hand-- even modern day Islam is about to Islamize the world, with any means possible. When (thank God) not "yet" accomplished, the Islamists bigotry has a few levels, the "people of the book" a.k.a. Christians & Jews are "allowed" to stay as an inferior class [Dhimmis], the other non-Muslims are "totally"...

How to be a bigot under the guise of a "critic of Israel" Try and substitute 'anti-Zionist' instead of anti-Jewish, at least make sure, your references convey such messages. Avoid all humanitarian aspects of Israel's humane army in its constant fight against Arabs who trick them into firing upon civilians, ommit all the risky steps Israeli soldiers take in going house to house searching for bombs/bombers, instead of just leveling the place down (if Zionists were not caring about civilians), the repeated notification for residents to leave a certain area ahead of anti-terror operations, in order to give a chance...

Anti-Semitism: With the state of Israel facing an existential threat, journalism's grand dame advocates ethnic cleansing as a Mideast solution. Liberal intolerance has come out of the closet. The "retirement" of Helen Thomas comes as no surprise. Neither did the remarks that prompted it. She's expressed such sentiments before, and her brethren in the White House press corps, which salivates over any politically incorrect utterance from the right, let her get away with it.

That old racist (Lebanese) ARAB woman Helen Thomas' 'ethnic cleansing' view reflects the 'conflct of the middle east' Arab racism & Islamic bigotry that is. (Helen Thoams under fire http://blogs.jta.org/politics/article/2010/06/07/2739476/helen-thomas-under-fire) You have to thank that old Arab hag for being honest, at least, at her last days... Take a good look at this "moderate" Arab and tell me it's not about Arab racism. The basic attitudes of the intolerant Goliath Arab Muslims world is that: 'You Jews are "outsiders" here in the middle east!' The Arab Palestinians who's parents or grandparents came over from Arab land and occupy the Jews'...

OTTAWA, May 31, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Conservative columnist Ezra Levant , who is Jewish, has slammed a growing trend of overt anti-Christian bigotry expressed by some elected members of Canada's parliament.Following a lunch arranged last week by Conservative Member of Parliament for Regina-Qu'Appelle Andrew Scheer for some of his colleagues to meet Msgr. Frederick Dolan, vicar of the Catholic lay organization Opus Dei in Canada,  some MPs publicly expressed objections to a representative of a Catholic group meeting with other MPs in the Parliamentary restaurant. Perhaps the term "bigot" is overused these days, particularly by the libertine left when referring to those of us who oppose the homosexual lobby, which in turn promotes the homosexual lifestyle and same-sex "marriage" and denigrates the traditional family unit. (The homosexual lobby often supports the abortion industry as well.) Yet bigotry does exist — and we orthodox Christians bear the brunt of it. Consider: Abortion and homosexual activists frequently exhibit bigotry toward us. Vicious secular humanists such as Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins frequently exhibit bigotry toward us. And then there's the bigotry exhibited by some Protestants toward Catholics...

In addition, bells in schools were ordered shut down under the pretense that they sound similar to church bells."The bell they ring to summon students for classes is illegal in Islam.
