When Barack Obama made his since-gone-viral “you didn’t build that” speech (Twitter #YDBT) he turned over a very telling card in a socialist hand that he’s been building since his 2008 campaign. Now that DC Hold’em 2012 is in full play, the cards are taking shape for everyone to see. As you might recall during the 2008 campaign, Obama told Ohio resident “Joe the Plumber” that we needed to “spread the wealth.” There were plenty of savvy political players who believed that he had just tipped his hand, yet the suckers remained at the table and checked their bets. Then...

The Real Culprit Behind High Food Prices August 15, 2012, 2:06 pm Here is an amazing bit of data on where the US corn crop goes: The Department of Agriculture says the corn crop in the US will be down 13% due to the drought.  But corn available for food uses is down 40% due to the ethanol mandate.  You do the math.  Wait, I don't trust your math.  I will do it for you:PS-  It's kind of amazing the supposed worst drought ever has dropped corn yields by just 13%.  Hurray for modern agriculture.   This year we will...

Back in March Soledad O'Brien attempted to rewrite history to protect Barack Obama and was roundly criticized for it. As noted back then, O'Brien is very obviously an Obama/liberal sycophant yet she insists otherwise. "I don't think I show bias in my TV show. I think I am aggressive with people about trying to find the facts behind what they say," O'Brien said. "Am I a liberal or conservative? I'm neither. Like most Americans, I find politics very frustrating. Like most Americans, I'd like to hear from politicians the facts. That is what drives me." Self-deception can be very cruel....
  • Petition supports Sarah Palin America’s Heartland speech At GOP Convention

What is America’s mainstream republican leadership in the RNC or the Mitt Romney presidential campaign afraid of, by not letting Sarah Palin take the podium? Are they in dread that Sarah Palin will wow the convention and America by drawing from her deep well of passionate and fervent feelings for America’s families suffering in the heartland? Does the Romney campaign feel somehow skittish that she will make a better case against Obama’s growing nightmarish handling of America’s economy and his intentional goal to undermine the U.S. constitution, than Romney or Ryan can? There are a lot of questions but no...

By Mr. Curmudgeon:Family Research Council President Tony Perkins was at the hospital just before midnight last Wednesday when Leonardo Reno Johnson was wheeled out of surgery, a bullet having been removed from his left arm. Earlier that same day, Johnson was in the lobby guarding the conservative Christian think-tank when a man possessing a Sig Sauer automatic handgun, two loaded magazines, 50 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, attempted to enter the organization's offices. When an alert Johnson stopped the unfamiliar visitor and demanded identification, the man pulled his weapon and fired, wounding Johnson in the arm. Injured but undeterred,...

Full title: Barack Obama refused to pay the health care bill for his poverty stricken brother, so conservative author Dinesh D’Souza paid it Conservative author Dinesh D’Souza writes: George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States. (George Obama is the youngest of eight children sired by Barack Obama Sr.) George’s brother is a multimillionaire and the most powerful man in the world. Moreover, George’s brother has framed his re-election campaign around the “fair share” theme that we owe obligations to those who are less fortunate. One of Obama’s favorite phrases comes right...

In all sobriety, the Washington Post actually ran an article on Obama’s beer preferences and how he is using his love of beer to connect with the masses, particularly “middle-America independents.” “According to Scarborough USA, 35 percent of these voters say they’ve had a beer in the past 30 days, compared with 30 percent of Democrats and 27 percent of Republicans,” writes Amy Gardner on August 14. “The numbers are even starker when focused on microbrews, with 45 percent of independents saying they drank one in the past month — and only 25 percent of Democrats and 23 percent of...

When we were kids, we saw the damage a twisted truth or unfounded rumor can do to another person. As adults, we have a duty to uncover the truth through contemplation and evaluation. When we fail to examine “facts” as they are presented, we become the audience in a farce is played-out before our eyes. An example of facts-as-farce is happening now. Harry Reid accuses Romney of going ten years without paying taxes. This fact is actually true because during the first ten years of Romney's life he did not pay taxes and lived with his parents. But Reid's statement...
  • Vanity - Why doesn't Sheldon Adelson Buyout a major media outlet?

I think this is a great question! Just why don't the conservatives buyout some of the major networks and then eliminate anyone (which is everyone) that doesn't show a bi-partisan approach when dealing with politics? There should be no defending when a question is asked. There should be no attacking when a question is asked. A journalist is there to present you with the opinion of the person they are interviewing, not the opinion of themselves. I just don't get why they are all owned and operated by liberal hacks.... Well, that's my rant for the day!
  • US Sugar Policy: Not So Sweet for the Economy

According the USDA estimates, the United States will use approximately 11,885,000 tons of sugar in fiscal year 2012-2013. Yet despite this incredibly large and ever increasing use of sugar, few Americans are aware of the economic price we pay for the government’s cartel-like control of the US sugar market. With Congress expected to reconsider the 2012 Farm Bill when it returns to DC in September, it is important to understand how this control operates and the economic harm it causes to US interests. Sugar prices in the United States are kept artificially high through a 3-part system of economic controls....

On May 17, the Michigan Senate voted for a transformational fiscal reform by closing the defined-benefit school pension system to new hires starting in 2013, and instead giving these workers generous 401(k) contributions. This came as a surprise, because the only reforms on the table before the vote were useful, if comparatively minor tweaks, to the existing defined-benefit system, which creates an additional layer of long-term taxpayer liabilities every time a new school employee is hired. What changed in the hours before that vote was that Sens. Mark Jansen, R-Gaines Township, and Phil Pavlov, R-St. Clair Township, two legislators with...

A long time ago, when there were no laws against killing bald eagles, someone made a sculpture that included a stuffed bald eagle. A few years ago, the owner of the sculpture died, and someone inherited the sculpture. Because of today’s laws against the trade in bald eagles, it is illegal for the person who inherited the sculpture to sell it. Because of this ban on selling it, Christie’s auction house has appaised the value of the sculpture as zero. However, the IRS has decided that the sculpture is worth $65 million, and has sent the owner an inheritance tax...

Equipping U.S. embassies with the unlimited ability to show movies to residents and visitors over the next five years could cost taxpayers more than $1.5 million. The U.S. Department of State claims the expenditure is necessary since the U.S. uses "feature films as programming tools to support foreign policy objectives." State's Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau awarded the sole-source contract to the Motion Picture Licensing Corp. (MPLC) , which it says is the only source that can provide a worldwide blanket-viewing license for 800 facilities. According to a Statement of Work that U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor located via routine...

Three years into their forced marriage with GM, the American taxpayers have seen the value of their investment in GM deteriorate by approximately $24 billion, largely due to continuing European losses. Exposure in Europe has contributed to crushing the value of GM's stock due to its chaotic and failing Opel unit in Germany. While government, journalists and Wall Street sympathizers have given the Obama Administration and GM leadership an almost incomprehensible pass on this value destruction and massive loss (presumably due to the macro-economic nature of the crisis), it's time to call for the accountability that this new Board was...
