I so love my wife, she's awesome, and for my birthday, she bought me a Bushmaster ORC with a scope. A Baraska 3X9X50mm Scope. It's looks good on the carbine! But I've never heard of Baraska scopes, I'm gonna google it and see what I can find! Has anyone else heard of them? If I can be honest, I wanted to ask all you Freepers if a Baraska scope, is a good scope! I have no idea, never heard of it! It's kinda large on the rifle, but I was wondering if I should take it off, return it, put...

The Bushmaster .308 differs from the typical AR in a few of its controls. While the forward assist and safety are normal AR type controls, the bolt release is at the bottom front of the trigger guard, and is ambidextrous, having a mirror-image release on each side. This is an excellent design for the bolt release, and it is easily reached with the trigger finger of either a right-handed or left-handed shooter. The magazine release is in the normal AR position, but also has an ambidextrous twin on the opposite side of the receiver. The upper and lower receivers are...
  • Gun firms pay out over US snipers

Victims of the sniper shootings in Washington DC and their families have settled a lawsuit they brought against a gun company and a gun dealer. They had sued the two companies for negligent distribution of weapons. Lawyers representing the victims' families described the settlement as historic. They believe it could change practices across the firearms industry. Bull's Eye Shooter Supply, who sold the rifle used in the shootings, agreed to pay the families $2m. Bushmaster Firearms, who made the gun, settled on a half-a-million dollar payout. The deal with Bushmaster is the first time a gun manufacturer in the United...

Thursday September 9, 2004 9:24AM est Windham, Maine -- The Washington DC Brady Group would have you believe they won some kind of victory! The Brady Group brought this lawsuit not for the victims, but for their anti-gun agenda. The Brady Group asked for the settlement conference after reviewing all the evidence they knew they could not be successful in court and they wanted to stop paying lawyer fees. The Brady Group sent a second tier lawyer to the settlement conference with nine demands on Bushmaster regarding business practices and Bushmaster denied them all. We then gave the Brady Group...

SEATTLE (AP) - The manufacturer and dealer of the rifle used in the Washington, D.C.-area sniper shootings have agreed to pay $2.5 million in a settlement with victims' families, a lawyer said Wednesday night. The settlement with Bushmaster marks the first time a gun manufacturer has agreed to pay damages for negligent distribution of weapons, said Jon Lowy, a lawyer with the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. He also said the settlement with Bull's Eye Shooter Supply is the largest against a gun dealer. "These settlements send a loud and clear message that the gun industry cannot turn a...

Richard Dyke of Windham is a tough advocate for his business and the gun-manufacturing industry. He's also a well-connected one. And Dyke, owner of Bushmaster Firearms Inc., is using as much congressional influence as he can muster these days to fight what he says are direct threats to his industry's survival: civil lawsuits. Bushmaster has been sued because it made the assault rifle allegedly used by the "beltway snipers" in the Washington, D.C., area last year. It wasn't the first such lawsuit against the industry. But he hopes it is the last. Dyke, a Republican fund-raiser with ties to U.S....

Bushmaster has fought the anti-gun movement continually in their constant efforts to eliminate firearms from our society. Nearly a decade after Bushmaster Firearms and other gun makers lost their fight to block a federal ban on assault weapons, the Windham company has increased its sales by at least 900 percent, erasing fears that the ban would put some manufacturers out of business. At Bushmaster, revenue is 10 to 15 times what it was before the 1994 law, said Allen Faraday, the company's vice president of administration. "We adjusted our business as to what was allowed and what wasn't allowed, and we've grown since then," Faraday said. "Basically, what we did was, going forward, we eliminated all of...

A lawsuit filed against the Maine company that made the rifle used in last fall's sniper shootings poses intriguing legal questions, experts say. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Washington state by lawyers representing relatives of the snipers' victims, alleges that Windham-based Bushmaster Firearms Inc. showed gross negligence that caused injuries and death. The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, also names the Tacoma, Wash., gun dealer that either sold or lost the rifle, as well as the sniper suspects, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Malvo. Muhammad and Malvo are accused of killing 13 people and wounding five others in Alabama, Georgia,...

Saying he is a former "Marine and U.S. Congressman from Montgomery County, Maryland", Michael Barnes of the Brady Campaign to ban guns just declared that M16-like semiautomatic .223 rifles similar to what the shooter used "have no place in civilian hands". Michael Barnes just claimed that semi-auto black rifles are mainly being sold to "criminals." Bushmaster, AR-15 owners especially should take note! The DC sniper was supposedly using a "Bushmaster" rifle, but I have seen very little info describing what a Bushmaster rifle is. Is this it: To me, it looks like a rather "normal" military-type rifle, of the type that an infantryman might carry in the field. To my untrained eye, it doesn't look like a specialized "sniper" rifle. More information can be found at this web page.Note that it does fire the .223 caliber round. Anyone else want to expand on this?
