I just received a Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone and can't figure it out. I was satisfied with my old Motorola flip phone; it rang when I wanted, reminded me of meetings and even sent text messages. This new thing has a pretty screen and more stuff than a space shuttle, but finding it and making it work is next to impossible with no grandkids here to help.

Washington businessman Jeffrey Thompson, who pleaded guilty Monday on federal conspiracy charges in a case that has focused largely on District Mayor Vincent Gray’s 2010 election, told federal prosecutors that Clinton aide Minyon Moore asked him to fund pro-Clinton efforts in four states and Puerto Rico totaling $608,750 during the hard-fought 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign, the documents show.

A jury in the bankrupt city of Detroit awarded a Muslim 1.1 million dollars for his inability to find a job. He claimed that he was fired for his Muslim beard — this after 17 years on the job. So for 17 years the beard was not a problem, but when he was fired, he claimed it was because he was Muslim. And the jury, socking it to “the man,” gave him $1.1 million.

SALT LAKE CITY, February 12, 2014–Can Utah shut down the new NSA data center by turning off the water? A new bill introduced by state Rep. Marc Roberts seeks to do just that. The legislation drafted by a transpartisan coalition organized by the Tenth Amendment Center (TAC) and the Bill of Rights Defense Committee (BORDC) called OffNow Coalition. The Utah Fourth Amendment Protection Act would expressly prohibit state material support, participation, and assistance to any federal agency that collects electronic date or metadata without a search warrant “that particularly desribes the person, place and thing to be searched or seized.”...

On this day in 1959, rising American rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson are killed when their chartered Beechcraft Bonanza plane crashes in Iowa a few minutes after takeoff from Mason City on a flight headed for Moorehead, Minnesota. Investigators blamed the crash on bad weather and pilot error. Holly and his band, the Crickets, had just scored a No. 1 hit with "That'll Be the Day." After mechanical difficulties with the tour bus, Holly had chartered a plane for his band to fly between stops on the Winter Dance Party Tour. However, Richardson,...

Beneath these averages are some demographic differences. For many years, researchers found that women were happier than men, although recent studies contend that the gap has narrowed or may even have been reversed. Political junkies might be interested to learn that conservative women are particularly blissful: about 40 percent say they are very happy. That makes them slightly happier than conservative men and significantly happier than liberal women. The unhappiest of all are liberal men; only about a fifth consider themselves very happy.

LePage vetoed a bill last year that would have increased the number of low-income people eligible for the federal insurance program, but Democrats are pushing him to reconsider. Local newspapers have also called on LePage to release the report, which his spokesman, Peter Steele, said is in draft stage and not yet ready for public release. "Of course we want this report to get out to the public," said Steele. "All the governor is saying, is, 'Can I at least read it first?'" LePage, who frequently expresses his distaste for the news media, told a group of eighth graders in...
