  • Once hot ethanol cooling off

One unexpected side effect of the Ethanol push is that the price of Tequila is going up. Farmers in Central Mexico are switching from growing the Agave plant to corn. Less Agave = less Tequila = higher price. As is typical with most government sponsored initiatives they are short sighted.

Here is a case of hysteria. My wife, a friend and I just returned from a visit ti some friends about 100km south of Guadalajara. The area around Lake Chapala has a full time expat citizenry of about 20,000 and a winter time population of 65,000. Crime is low, police (both local and federal) were polite and helpful. Border towns are not safe, but to condemn an entire population because of the activities of some is not the conservative way.

Liberals use broad definitions to condemn conservatives, we should not stoop to that level.

We were treated much better entering Mexico through Guadalajara than we were treated coming back through Atlanta. The most dangerous part of our trip was driving in the mountains trying to keep up with others. Speed limits there were actually low limits (I think).

We are going back permanently next year. Great climate, low prices and some of the friendliest people we have met. The Mexicans in Mexico are not the Wal-Mart variety we see up here.

If the good doctor has been in office for more than 1 term then he has been there too long. The problem is that they all have to go so that no one winds up as a power center because of longevity. I like my Senator but wold vote her out during a primary for a different republican. I am not advocating a change in party makeup just in faces.

At this point I would vote for my mailman if he ran as a republican. We have got to get the entrenched politicos out and send a message that we are in charge and that Washington works for us, not the other way around.

Maybe a good way to start is at the local level, City councils and Mayors, County Commissioners, School Board Members etc. As it shows that it is working (and it will) move up the food chain to state government util we reach the Feds and pull them off their high horses and laugh as they realize they can't work at a real job.

It is interesting to note that since John Edwards left the senate he has done nothing but campaign. What has Algore done since leaving and losing? What would Kennedy do if he were not a Senator? (No answer to that one this is not an R rated forum).

This may sound radical and may get pulled, but I would that FR was open enough to allow a free exchange of inforamtion. It is my opinion that our elected officials have become completely out of touch with reality (out side the capitals)and should be removed from office at the next election. It was never the intent of the Founders to have professional representation. Now I know that one argument against this is that it will give the beuracrats more power because they would be able to sandbag until their elected supervisor was replaced. That can be addressed with a bit of cooperation between the outgoing and incoming reps. The time to do this would be during primaries and that would not upset the balance of power. I don't want to see a Speaker Pelosi or Majority leader Ried. I do want to see my representatives representing my wishes and communicating with us on why they couldn't. The attitude inside the beltway is that we are the unwashed masses and "don't understand". I have a pasture full of manure that doesn't come close to stinking like that statement does. I may live in a small rural town in the south, but I was eucated at a time when you had to pass your exams or get left behind. It doesn't take a DC address to be smart. OK I'm off my soap box and am interested in the comments, suggestion, and threats this produces.

I must disagree. The "Holy Sites" are guesses and edicts from Constantine. The actual places are not known to us only to Him. The real Jerusalem is yet to come. The fate of Israel has been determined since the time of Adam and Eve. It is all spelled out in the various and numerous prophecies of both the OT and the NT. I am curious as to where these things happened, but I will wait to stand before Him to find out for sure.

I would like to go to Jerusalem for the history and the knowledge that my Saviour walked these streets and sat in this olive grove. The real thrill will be to walk the streets of New Jerusalem.

First, I will say something that sounds outrageous and then I will try to explain it.
    Who Cares?
It doesn't matter a lick what "authority" is in charge of Jerusalem. "Holy Sites" are holy because someone way back before I was born said "this is where Jesus was buried, crucified, born etc. It doesn't matter if He was born in Bethlehem at the site of the Church of the Nativity or at the site of the current terrorist training facility. It doesn't matter if He was crucified at Golgotha or Gorden's Calvary.
It matters that He was born and that he suffered, died and resurrected. Moses tomb was kept a secret because God did not want the Jews to worship the site of his burial. Let us take an example from The Most High and stop putting so much importance on a place and more importance on Him who created all places.

When I was growing up (back in the middle ages) we ate pizza, burgers, coke, shakes, banana splits, ice cream cones etc. Of course we also had to get to these places and that meant riding our bikes at least 1 mile and sometimes 3 or 4. We also stopped by the local field and payed baseball or rode to the beach and went swimming, built forts, climbed trees, played tag and agmes we made up involving bike tires and throwing them at each other.

The point is we were active along with the high fat high sugar diet. In the summer we left the house in the morning and came home at dark.

I don't think kids are as active anymore. Part of that problem is with the parents not making the kids go outside and play, but letting them sit in front of the game boy and exercise their fingers.

OK now I am off my soap box.

You are partailly correct. I happen to think that governemnt does way more than what it should be doing. If these people are not performing a task that can't be done by non-government workers they are essential (Cops, firefighters, judges, state attorneys etc.) On the other hand DOT, Social workers, food stamp coordinators etc. Should go find real work somewhere else where I can choose not to support them by shopping elsewhere

Just wondering. If they are non-essential why are they still on the payroll. It isn't just Massachusetts, it is every state in the country. IMHO every one who was able to not come in because they were not essential should get a severance package and job retraining.

A question, if you please? Please give me at least 2 documented transitional species from fossil evidence. I know there must be thousands based on all the different species of animals that have evolved to date.

If you want to make an evolutionist stammer just ask how evolution coincides with the three basic laws of Thermo Dynamics. You can also ask how it stands up to the Super law of Biogenisis.

In order for those who believe in evolution to accept the idea of intelligent design they must first accept the fact that they are not God. For some that is impossible,

The picture in question is from a different angle. The large blue mass in the background is definitely a land mass. A tsunami starts out in deep water and will travel at over 500MPH as it gets to shallow water the bottom of the wall of water starts to slow down (friction) the top keeps going. The top will slow at a slower rate than the bottom, this is what causes the water to recede from the shoreline. The greater the recession the larger the wave coming behind it. By the time it reaches shore it is probably going about 35MPH. Still too fast to out run.

I wonder if going out towards it and diving into the middle would help??? We used to do that with regular waves to avoid getting bounced around. The problem is that this wave is a couple of hundred feet in width.

The best thing is when the water starts to recede and you are in the Pacific is to beat feet in the other direction as fast as you can go and look for high ground.

An interesting fact I heard was that there are no wild animals dead. Even in a zoological park all the animals survived from elephants to rabbits.

Another good alternative to IE is Slim Browser. I have been using it for almost a year. No pop ups at all and it gets updated about every other month. It is also free. I can't compare it to FireFox since I haven't tried that one yet. I guess I will, but if it ain't broke I don't try to fix it.

It is, virtually, impossible for finite beings to comprehend infinity. I am a fundamentalist Christian and I don't have a handle on infinity.

I do have a video interview with an evolutionist from some large university where he makes the statement that there are more "transitional" species than we could ever hope to catalog. When asked to name one he replied "We haven't found them yet".

To answer the question "Who created the Creator", I can only point to the Bible (oh no not that) where it says "Before Abraham was, I Am". Faith? Definitely, but then it requires a lot of faith to believe in evolution.

I will agree with your "possibilities". I will also add that the font used was developed by Rupert Murdock's company for the London Times in 1980 and then licensed to MS later.

Are there any other documents any where from that period using that font and spacing techniques along with the "superscript"? I haven't seen any posted.
