With all the recent moves by the feds regarding bail outs and the cash they are giving away. I find myself just overwhelmed by the moves they are making and the implications of these moves. Some of my questions are “Does the Federal government now “OWN” the US banking system”? If so, where does that leave the “FED”. Or does the FED now own the US banking system? More to the point, who owns the banking system? Do they also “OWN” the auto business? Same kind of questions. Are any freepers out there able to sum up these moves in...
  • The press spooks its readers about increased gun purchases.

Firearms scare almost everybody. But no demographic gets more wiggy about handguns, shotguns, and rifles than journalists. Ever since the Washington Post ("Gun Sales Thriving in Uncertain Times," Oct. 27) put the idea into circulation that the election and economic turmoil were spurring an increase in gun and ammo sales, a score of other news outlets have published their takes on the topic.

For the sake of argument, we all can agree that in the context of Iraq, several countries, most notably the U.S., entered into war based on faulty intelligence. But that was only one factor. Regardless of whether Saddam presently had weapons of mass death, we know that the Baghdad butcher was a mass murderer, and we know that Hussein had been in flagrant violation of his terms of surrender, violating international law. The man deserved to be removed from office, did he not? So long as certain members of the U.N. Security Council were on the payroll, however, Hussein thought...

Dear Sir, Recently I went to a "gun show". I tried to buy a gun. The FBI, NICS's system failed. I was not denied, I was delayed................................for two days. Then the Gun show left town. This is in effect a de-facto abridgment of my second amendment rights, I was denied a purchase. I felt like I was a criminal because I was "delayed". Yet, After questioning the staff I found some interesting real life effects. Such as, If you are a jr. or a sr. or a Smith or a Jones you will never be approved by the time the ...
  • Election vs. Unemployment

An interesting observation on the 2000 presidential election. I am unaware of anybody tying the election results to unemployment statistics so I thought I would. The standard red/blue map we have all seen over and over again. Unemployment rates in the USA by county I think it is fascinating to notice how closely the two line up. High unemployment seems to indicate Democratic voters. The only exception to this seems to be the "Deep South". However, Gore being seen by so many as a "Gun Grabber" coupled with the high rate of firearm ownership in the south might account for ...

I found this on the web and couldn't help but share it with you all. For a little humour break; Note: This is an exact replication of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Army General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base? GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it? GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see ...

"Not too bad," that's what the boy killer murmured to his lawyer when the verdict came in. He was right that it could have been worse. The Florida jury might have gone for murder one but instead convicted Nathaniel Brazill, 14, of murder in the second degree for pointing a gun between the eyes of his favorite teacher and pulling the trigger a year ago. "I'm O.K.," he mouthed to his mother Polly, seated in the courtroom's second row. Then he gave a little wave to a young cousin, sitting nearby. ---------See the full article at the originating site------

AMERICAN President George W Bush is bracing himself to make Tony Blair an offer he can't refuse. It will be couched in such subtle terms that Downing Street can pretend it has never been asked. But it will urge Britain to make up its mind whether our relationship with America is more important than our ambition to be at the heart of Europe. For the rest of the article click here

I watched it carefully, I saw Gore strike out as a leader. But I also saw the lame side of what he said. I think Bush won this one by letting Gore run at the mouth, he gave him enough rope to hang himself. All Gore could do was throw up the class envy card. Which is basicly all he did. That is leadership?

I have watched CNN for many years. I saw the change in CNN over "Desert Storm" , We were giving our tactics away so, as you can understand we have to censor the media, ok. But after that the "censoring" never stopped. One after another whitehouse press representitives quit the whitehouse and then moved on to be exec's to the media. Cokie Roberts And Wolf Blitzer to name just two. Has anyone noticed this as well and wondered as to the media spin on the whole thing? Hi! SAS and the fine folks at the "Darby Project"
