Gov. Kay Ivey has announced her intentions regarding keeping Alabama.“I will not shut down businesses; the business community certainly has my support,” Ivey wrote on Twitter. “As I’ve said many times, you cannot have a life without a livelihood.” Ivey has gradually lessened restrictions since the first Stay at Home order she issued for April. Most recently, her Safer at Home order removed capacity limits for businesses so long as social distancing and mask guidelines are followed.

A crowd between 500 to 600 people casted their absentee ballots on Saturday. Voters waited for nearly three hours to deliver their ballots in the rain. This was the final weekend for absentee voting.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth says some businesses required to close under the ongoing stay at home order should be allowed to immediately reopen. Ainsworth and the Alabama Small Business Commission’s Emergency Task Force released a report Friday morning with recommendations to Gov. Kay Ivey for reopening businesses in Alabama. MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - John Merrill officially announced Tuesday he will run for the U.S. Senate. Merrill made the announcement around 10 a.m. Tuesday, releasing a video on social media. Merrill was elected Alabama’s chief elections officer in 2014 and won re-election in 2018. The Senate seat is currently held by Democrat Doug Jones, who defeated Republican Roy Moore in a 2017 special election.

As many as 800 tractor trailers loaded with relief supplies are at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery waiting to be deployed to Florida and Georgia as the areas brace for Hurricane Irma. Col. Eric K. Shafa, Commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing at Maxwell, said the installation is serving as staging area for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Premium Motorsports announced Wednesday that Reed Sorenson’s No. 55 car will be branded in support of Donald Trump’s campaign at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Election Day is two days later. AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has accepted an offer to be the head coach at Florida, sources told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach. Muschamp, who just finished his third season at Texas, where he was the head-coach-in-waiting to succeed Mack Brown, replaces Urban Meyer at Florida. The USC football program will receive a two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases its sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds that Bayh attracts support from just 44% or 45% of voters when matched against his top potential Republican challengers.
